The debate about the Patriotic Front’s (PF) Presidential candidate in the 2016 tripartite elections is over because President Sata will run for a second term, Vice-President Guy Scott has said.
“In 2016, Michael Sata no change… anyone who is saying that they will reward you is telling lies. There is no one who has been endorsed by the President, the Vice-President or the election chairperson who in this case is Ms Sylvia Masebo,” Dr Scott said.
He said this in Ndola yesterday when he opened the PF Copperbelt provincial conference which will choose new office bearers.
Dr Scott said the leadership on the Copperbelt must have the drive to help the ruling party, led by President Sata, win the 2016 tripartite elections.
He urged PF leaders in the province to render selfless service without expecting any payment as their collective effort will be for the benefit of the whole country.
Dr Scott called on party members to remain disciplined and “do the right thing” for the party and the country.
He said that the PF wants the Copperbelt to govern itself and people should not thrive on lies.
He said there is no one in the PF, who was not brought in by President Sata and this must be respected.
And Ms Masebo, who has been in the province since Thursday, said she has not experienced any intra-party violence in the run-up to the conference.
“We ensured that the atmosphere is free and fair,” she said.
Ms Masebo said the party is strong on the Copperbelt which contributed significantly to getting the PF into Government.
Meanwhile, voting for the PF provincial executive committee kicked off late and saw Wusakile MP Richard Musukwa battling it out against Stardy Mwale for the position of provincial chairman.
The vice chairman position attracted Menyani Zulu, Steven Kainga, and Newton Chabala while in the women’s category Hildah Kawesha, Selita Shanga, Agness Chomba, Beauty Daka, and Mary Banda were jostling for the chairlady post.
Other candidates were Dorothy Chimpimpi, Annie Nicho, and Mwansa Jordan who were vying for the position of vice chairlady.
In the youths contest, John Kalyati, Evans Sithiya, and Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chishimba were eyeing the provincial youth chairmanship slot while the position of vice youth chairman was a two horse race between Thomson Ngulube and Albert Bwalya.

I used to respect Guy Scott, and just because he is whiteman. But when a man brings on the “Endorsement campaign” which GBM launched makes me wonder why Scott is acting like a salamander. Today he forsake Kabimba, whom he thought will step-up in place of the resigning-bound Sata.
He is old, looks unhealthy and should retire, he’s 74 for Gods sake. Guy Scotshould also retire. Kupusa!

PF is destined to be a one term party. Post 2016 upon losing power, I see PF fading from the political scene and the few PF MP’s who will have made it will proceed to detections to other parties. Guy Scott is living in denial.

I have my seriuos doubts as to whether Mr Sata will run in 2016. For a man who has so successfully shied away from the public by not holding a press conference since assuming office in 2011, I wouldn’t put my money on him hitting the more gruelling campaign trail.
Having been cheated on the 90 day promises, Zambians would be particularly unforgiving of Mr Sata and the PF. Mr Sata is smart enough to know that and he is unlikely to embarrass himself by running in an election whose outcome appears very obvious. Mr Sata is more likely to watch the next election from the sidelines, and blame the PF loss on the rest of PF- I can almost hear him telling them ‘ You see, you can’t even win an election without me?’

If MCS is your candidate for 2016, the the best way to say it is by KEEPING QUIET.
By endorsing and re-endorsing him this early, you cause the electorate to start wondering (WHY..?)
The most urgent ENDEAVOR for PF should be to strive and fulfill campaign promises and win the lost hearts of the previously dear electorates.
The question of candidate endorsement is useless for them right now. What is rather important should be ‘IS the BOAT still SELL-ABLE?’. If not, you will go down heavily regardless of your candidate!
And before you wave MCS under our noses, let him get to 2016 first; he is old and frail remember? Old age, disease, heavy responsibility and a 3 year wait doesn’t look like a healthy combination to me, and I’m sure most level headed Zambians share my sentiments.

When GBM spoke the same thing Guy Scot and his friend Kabimba were the first to throw stones at him saying no one is allowed to speak about endorsement now, now that it’s Scot speaking what will Kabimba say. Not that am supporting GBM but I think morality must be the guiding line when dealing with leadership or is it that the fight against GBM was just a personal one? It’s not long that Scot was shouting against GBM, the echo of his voice is still loud that he can hear himself. What has changed?
