Arrows coach laments Charity Shield defeat

Share

Red Arrows acting head coach Charles Kafula has rued his team’s failure to hold on to a first half 1-0 lead in Saturday’s 3-1 Charity Shield final defeat to Nkana in Kitwe.

Nkana came from behind to thump Kafula’s Arrows 3-1 and bag the 2014 Charity Shield at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Veteran striker Adubelo Phiri handed Arrows a 5th minute lead before Nkana replied with three second half goals by Simon Bwalya (brace) and Evans Kangwa.

“We would have won the match had we maintained the lead,” he said.

“It was a tight game, we were leading by 1-0 in the first half and created many chances,” Kafula said.

He now wants to forget about the Charity Shield final loss to focus on the coming 2014 FAZ Super League.

“We now have to prepare for the league and hope for the best.”
Kafula is warming up the role of Arrows head coach following the firing of George Lwandamina, who is now Zesco United head trainer.

Arrows are now reported to be courting Oswald Mutapa.
