The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has appealed to President Michael Sata to provide leadership on the stalled constitution making process as opposed to making mocking statements on the issue.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza said President Sata’s recent statement questioning whether the current constitution is an animal driven constitution for people to continue demanding for a people driven constitution is disappointing.

Mr Mwanza said the President’s statements on the constitution are not inspiring especially that people expect him to give direction on the constitution making process.

Mr. Mwanza told Qfm News in an interview that President Sata should give the Zambian people a constitution they have asked for.

He added that President Sata is fully aware that the country needs a new constitution which he promised the Zambian people while in opposition.

And Open Society Foundation Executive Director Sunday Chanda said Zambians do not need to show President Michael Sata an animal-driven constitution because they are not an animal farm.

Mr Chanda has called on President Sata to show leadership and give the people the long awaited constitution.

    • The president has shown ‘leadership’ and he doesnt care of course.

Of Course the constitution is important but this has crowded the minds of people and has become a campaigning too by the opposition

Disgraceful in every sense of the word and LT please don’t report on this, i am pulling my hair now

Someone please pass the puke bucket.
      Thanks

    • It was a duty for each and every learned Zambian to help those who were brainwashed to come back to their senses. Vulnerable people were exploited and made to believe all this was possible. Putting the PF government into office was the biggest mistake we ever made in voting as Zambians. I hope there have been lessons learned.

    • @chiwanangala, we chinangwa we kolweee. I know you are used to being deceived by sata the devil. I sympathise with you. We chipuba weeee!.

    • Sata HAS shown leadership. Just because it is not what you want, does not mean that he is not leading. Why do people use soundbites that they do not understand?

    • @THE SAINT: Wonder what kind of a saint you are? Are you sure Mr. Sata has shown leadership? Are you kidding me! Do you have any idea how much tax-payer’s money was spent on the constitution making process? Any idea how much time and effort was committed to it, only to be trashed by Mr. Sata? And you call that ‘showing leadership’?
I will tell you what it is. Mr. Sata is a frightened old man. He is afraid that if he signed-off on the constitution, he would be scoring an own goal, come 2016. Would you call that leadership?

  1. WOW Life can Change people??. DR Kaseba has also changed; she needs someone to carry her handbag? As first Lady / Mother. What advice is she giving to the Husband? The man is quite on critical national issues and just barks on immaterial matters. He needs to show true Leadership. Else let him step down / kicked out like the Ukrainian President.

    • “she needs someone to carry her handbag”? You’re quite right – well spotted! How long does it take to change eh? This is the guy who got into a minibus in livingstone because he wanted to keep his feet with the people… wow…

  2. What Yali is this as far as I know thi sis what YALI is
” the Obama Administration’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. Nearly one in three Africans are between the ages of 10 and 24, and approximately 60 percent of Africa’s total population is below the age of 35. President Obama launched YALI in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.”

I need some education on this one.

  3. SUNDAY CHANDA IS BACK TO NORMAL OOH THANK U LORD MAY U ALSO LORD TOUCH OPPER HAMIYANZI THE MAN IS DEEP IN THE DARK MY FATHER

  4. Bla bla ! Bet that’s what you get when you have a nation full of dull people.Surely people can’t distinguish between a figurative and a literal statement ? Sata’s speech was figurative.Only someone confused can take it in this way.We are a nation of jokers.Smh

  5. The church has the moral right to advise the Government, but the Government has the constitutional right to govern. However, advise to any one can either be taken or not. Those church mother bodies opposing government while hiding behind the robes should resign and form political parties like father bwalya. If the government does not take their advise, the best they can do is let the government do its job and if they fail to deliver, vote them out in 2016. As far as I know, president SATA has not said he will not give Zambia a new constitution.

  6. How come our Oposition Parties are only talking abt the 50+1 and a running Mate? What about the rest of the issues that largely affect an odinary Zambian.

  7. Funny how every Jim and ndobo is now shouting for the release of the constitution without even knowing what was contained in the old one or even worse its meaning.

  8. President Sata needs to show leadership – PERIOD! The PF Govt has been a huge disappointment. I hope Zambians have learnt that you don’t play around with political leadership.

  9. THIS SATA IS A VERY DISAPPOINTING PRESIDENT,AM EVEN LOOKING A FOOL IN THE EYES OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS FOR SUPPORTING THIS MAN BEFORE HE BECAME PRESIDENT.I DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOING IN HIS MIND UYU MUNTU.

  10. It’s the Zambians who are being taken for a ride. So far, we haven’t had a single honest president. Sata, a relic of the past oppression of the Zambian people, is following a well-established precedence.
For 27 years Kaunda abused power to any level conceivable. If Chiluba had been honest, he too could have delivered a more sane constitution to the Zambian people. Alas, power became too sweet for him. Mwanawasa was equally protective of his tenure. Otherwise he too had his chance to give us a legitimate constitution. Rupiah Banda, not a new comer on the political scene, could have done the right thing had he wanted to.
Now poor Zambians are looking to the serpent for deliverance. Unfortunately, this is not he brazen serpent of Moses’ day. It has venom instead.

  11. To be able to show leadership, shouldn’t one have leadership qualities?

You shall know them by their fruits. You can tell what type of tree it is by its fruits.
A tree that does not bear fruit is useless and needs to be cut down and used for firewood.

    #OneZambia.

  12. This is smart. You look good mr and mrs sata. We.still.trust you with the constitution. This man has intergrity and a sense of humor. Pipo learn to differentiate

  13. SHOW leadership?
90 days is equal to lies. I advise people never to do anything that requires
90 days to accomplish because it will be a lie.
