Finance Bank Zambia Chairman Rajan Mathani has praised the PF government for handing back the Bank to the rightful owners and serving it from what he termed as ” jaws of death and total annihilation”.

“My heart is filled with gratitude and thanks giving to our lord Jesus Christ who sustained, established, granted growth, delivered from Jaws of death and total annihilation and now steering FBZ to greater glory for his name”.

He further commended the current administration for being a people’s government that listened to the cries of its citizens as well as for its intolerance towards injustices perpetrated by the previous administration.

“On behalf of the board of directors, Management, members of staff, our loyal customers and indeed the entire nation we record our gratitude to your government for being a principled, fair and listening government bold to redress injustices and restore the indeppendence of our judiciary”.

“This spirit has also been proven in your recent revocation of SI 55 and SI33 for the entire benefit of the nation”. Mr Mahtani said.

And speaking at the same function. Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has described the action by the former ruling party, the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) on its move to grab and sale Finance bank for $5 Million, an amount not even half the banks value, as the last franchise of morality.

Mr. Chikwanda claimed that the action by the MMD would have incapacitated Zambia and the Region because the bank has been a supporter of small scale businesses as well as small scale farmers, who are the economic engine of the country and the region.

The Minister noted that his party, the ruling Patriotic Front (PF), came to liberate the country’s economy, claiming that the PF came into office with a view of promoting a free market economy without undue influence from government.

He added that the president’s move to repossess the bank and return it to the rightful owners has been vindicated as can be seen from the good economic performance of the bank which has continued to grow since it was returned to the owners.

And the Finance Bank chairman has revealed that the bank will before the end 2014 list on several Stock Markets.

Mr. Mathani said his bank is in the process of listing on the Lusaka stock exchange, Nairobi stock exchange, and London Stock exchange as it extends it tentacles to other markets.

The duo were speaking at the Finance Bank Zambia limited financial result for the year ended 31st December 2013 cocktail party at Pamodzi hotel last night.

  1. No matter what praises you shower, that is self deception. This Chimbwi No Plan government has to give way to progressive UPND. PF has lamentably failed the people it lied to just to take up power and abuse it. This dictatorship should be the last in series in Africa particularly Zambia

    • Mr Mahtani, I can agree with you that PF saved Finance bank from being given away by the former MMD.
But I disagree with you on this. The PF is not a people’s government and it not a listening government to the people’s cries. Otherwise the constitution would have been given to Zambians by this arrogant government. Mr. Mahtani, just because you are few of those elite enjoying from PF mis-rule, does not mean that the marjority of Zambians are enjoying. Just speak for yourself and your family Mr. Millionaire and not for the Zambian people.

    • He is showering them with all these praises for personal gain. Indians do not cleanup where they make their money from. If you go to any Indian trading area of any country you will see clatter and derelict buildings from where they display their wares. They never plough back the money into modernising infra structure as they truly feel they don’t belong to the land and their money is always mystical. There is used to be an Indian in Ndola called Amin many decades ago who was mega rich and is purported to have ritualised his son of 7 or so and his dead body was used to conceal millions of dollars ready to fly the corpse to India for the funeral. The Kaunda armed forces were well funded during that period and they managed to intercept the satanic deed and arrested Amin and accomplices

    • @ james

Whats progressive about being tribal, regional, bantustan, lacking in national appeal?

In UPND you call a lack of national development agenda and national character as progressive?

You call it progressive by embracing without shame, a well planned and orchestrated agenda to alienate, disaffect and even possibly annihilate the biggest tribal grouping in the country (bemba which is 43%) if, God forbid you “come into power”

You are the most wretched and dismal political grouping any right thinking and progressive people can join.

I am happy that in your current prejudiced format, the majority of the Zambians reject you with contempt.

    • Where has it failed its people bwana kanyokanyo James. The problem is you guys who have focussed on grabbing power from PF that you re blinded by the progress the country is making. Speaking for my clan, we happy with the govt so far for restoring our land with new roads, clinics and schools. If you not happy with this, let’s meet at the ballot booths in 2016.

    • Excuse my misspelling of the word clutter which I wrongly spelt as clatter. Paradoxically, the latter might also apply but I prefer the former.

    • Now it is abuse, then it was prudent financial management. FB was being used by the PF cartel for money laundering. If it was left unchecked, the country would have been in ruins. Thanks to the efforts to RBs intervention. Mathani’s activities in Zambia are worthy investigating.

  2. UPND: the party of pastoralists, for pastoralists. Never to ascend to state power in mother Zambia!

    • What is wrong to be “pastoralists”? In so far, city dwellers are the ones which has failed the Nation for the past 49 years.

    • @2201 Kalanga Street
Please clarify for the benefit of readers:- What do you have against livestock, and making your wealth thru livestock which actually grows exponentially over time?

    • @142 comments from kalanga and gen (I would never capitalise their names) are filled with hatred towards the first known settlers and indigenous people of Zambia called The Tonga. The diatribe and homophobia tendencies displayed by the afore mentioned is unZambian and should be condemned by all sane bloggers.

    • @ One Hit Wonder; Who is a settler?
One Zambia One Nation brother. No human being is greater than another. Encourage oneness. Don’t be affected by little minds dear.

  3. Koma muli na ficonfidence ba upnd, anyway each dawn draws us close to 2016 we shall meet you on the ground.pf is still strong, most of you upnd bloggers hardly mingle with people that actually vote.most zambians Do not ve access to the internet, were the upnd is busy propagating on the zambian watchdog.

    • @Mr. Mwaume,
The opinion on Zambian online news, websites, etc is the true reflecion of what is happening in the country, even on the ground among most common Zambians. It was the same even prior to 2011. At that time PF was the most prefeered party owing to the comments from bloggers comments, etc.
Today its the same with UPND. UPND is the most preferred party and if you PF are still living in denial, you will receive the shock of your life. Mark my words. I for myself I voted to PF in 2011. But after realising that PF is not the right party to rule Zambia, I have now decided to go with UPND, and so is the case with many of the people I know and their families.

    • @ 142 & mopao

just ask yourselves a simple question: who are the majority of voters in Zambia?

Watch dog can succeed in brainwashing a few of you lacking in moral scruples and you become hyperactive deceiving yourselves with popularity you don’t even have.

your HH has no leadership qualities worth writing home about to even lead a political party.

    • @Gen, kolwee iwee. And you think your fossil at state house has leadership qualities? We cant even start mentioning the many nonsense your pathetic family (pf) party has been doing in the country. Ichi mutwee!!!!

    • @ mapoa

with your impertinent reponse, it shows that i just hit your tribal bantustan and regional faction where it hurts most

My point has been drilled firmly home

hey dont hang yourself there is salvation out there

    • @gen, what tribe/ If you knew my tribe you wouldnt even bark at me. Ia m not Tonga neither am I bemba. But I am a Zambian.

  4. thats why zambia needs a better constitution for the protection of such private ventures whether its MMD or PF ruling, this notion of depending on the executive can b dangerous at times especially when you disagree with the executive!

  5. Dr Mathani you are right in SOME OF YOUR WORDS, to b HONEST PF had started well but mabilili naku simvele ba Sata. Giving Bank back PF did well.
But currently the only BETTER WAY is UPND and UPND forward.

  6. UPND doesn’t even need to compaign to win 2016, just bad policies of PF will do the tricks coupled up with their Pride, not listening. building structures is ok but it should not preside over the economy, right now we need a miracle to reverse this trend of things going up, so please President Sata listen before HH becomes your predecessor, you promised to alliviate our suffering, if you don’t suffering will ask for
    a new leader.

    • Try By elections in Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, Copperbelt, Central and Lusaka Provinces to test your popularity as UPND. Remember democracy is about numbers. Which part of Zambia is highly populated? You have the answer.

    • But where is Kafulafuta, Katuba or Chililabombwe mwe bantu? Are they in Southern province? What was the margin in Kapiri by-election? PF 6000+ and UPND 5000+. Continue living in self denial and get the shock of your life very soon.

    • But Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, Copperbelt, Central and Lusaka Provinces push on Zambia useless leaders so far twice now. It is high time they modernised.

  7. This little pricey of a crook is just a conman. His time will certainly come and very soon. We shall see. Reaping the benefits of helping Sata with stolen funds for elections

    • Of course this criminal Mahtani is happy with the PF confusion! Now he can steal even more millions of Dollars from Zambia with his transfer-pricing schemes to Switzerland.

And this dull dinosaur of a Finance Minister has not got enough intelligence to even understand how it works!

  8. This little pricky of a crook is just a conman. His time will certainly come and very soon. We shall see. Reaping the benefits of helping Sata with stolen funds for elections

  9. Ba Mathani don’t be too sure of this CNP government. Your honeymoon will be over soon as you differ as they will surely grab the bank from you. For now continue funding and making them fat, and never you dare cross their path the wrong way.

  10. It is not possible to do a public listing of a bank which is not transparent and fraught with mismanagement and flouting of bank regulations. Mahtani in any other country would not be allowed to be chairman of a bank.

  11. Is this not the same Mahtani who forcibly grabbed Zambezi Portland Cement from its rightful owners and got them deported? Mahtani is a smooth criminal.

  12. Viva PF. We are seeing the tangible things you are doing. Come 2016,we shall meet them head on. Let them “bwata -bwata “

    • What tangible things are you seing apart from the Tanta exposure in the picture above??? Ubunga, fuel, roads, exchange rate, unemployment .. . . . are you blind you???

  13. To all of the UPND suporters:

What alternative plans does UPND have to offer to Zambins? HH, in all his statements in the media is simply critiques of the PF govt. Let him tell Zambians how differently he will run the affairs of Zambia if given the mandate, otherwise he might as well just forget it.

    • Do not expect everything on a silver platter!! That is why you will always be waiting for hand outs. Here is the link to our web address and ask for our party manifesto and you will be better enlightened. Better still come in person we may even convince you why we feel we can do better in government.

  14. This reminds me of an Editorial in the Pfost newpapers some time in 2011 “Thief praising a Policeman”

  15. Thanks LT and Tumfweko for allowing divergent views on your site. ZWD is pathetic in this regard. How can it be that only people of the same mind inhabit their world? Never in the the real world, only happens on George Chellah powered facebook page at plot 1! Be real and switch off those slanted filters; divergent views nourish nation building.

  16. #job 13:13 dont misuse the Word of God over Mahtani. No need for a new govt to grab Mahtani’s bank. What MMD did was evil. jealousy aside, Mahtani has his weaknesses but we need to support him and help him to do what is right. Let him sing praises to PF and next time he sahall sing praises to UPND. But he has a heart to help Zambians and to put Zambia on the map.

  17. the pf has failed..i keep wondering why these kolwestans form those forests in muchinga, and noprthern province can’t see..ba pf..shame

  18. I think Mathani is delusional, how could any sane Zambian, even a Mwenye one, claim this CNP government is “a people’s government that listened to the cries of its citizens as well as for its intolerance towards injustices perpetrated by the previous administration?. When Sata is removed from power, Mathani must be shot in the head to teach him a lesson.

  19. I am always shocked by the UPND supporters. It seem like you folks want everyone to join in showering praise even when we have other preferences. Probably we give time to listen and think through what the PF is doing. If someone says something you don’t like, you scream with insults and threats. Just campaign for your party and allow others to do the same for their parties not insulting and threatening them! They are entitled to their preferences in a democratic dispensation.

  20. Yes Dr. Mahtani you are right. ‘A guy who owes you money should be praised when they pay it back’. And everything else they do after that is right. Thanks for telling the world something they didn’t already know. You are the best thing that ever happened to Zambia and the world at large. I don’t know what your issues were with the previous regimes (Chiluba’s and RB’s possibly KK’s as well) but please stop giving us lectures about ethics and morals then playing smiling assassin with a beauty sitting next to you. I smell a rat!!

  21. JAY JAY, what you are saying is that our country is run by crooks and a guy who is not even suppose to run a dentistry (or less) runs a major part of our economy? Was this why Chiluba deported Ticklay in the year 2000. I saw Mathani in London two years ago, he was quiet and was standing alone like a nice man. Was he acting?
