Zamalek advanced to the group stage 5-0 on aggregate to pick up their biggest win in the competition this season.

Nkana were down 2-0 into the break after Ahmed Tawfiq put Zamalek ahead in the 20th minute before Moemen Zakaria added the hosts second in the 34th minute.

Omar Gaber added a third in the 48th minute , Hazem Emam found the target on the hour mark before Ahmed Gaafar sealed the contest nine minutes later.

Nkana have a chance to redeem themselves in the Confederation Cup when they go into the knock-out round draws on April 1 in Cairo.

  1. I watched the game online; it was as though Nkana were playing Bayern Munich. This is the best Zambia can offer? Useless team & coach; they couldn’t beat Haiti’s U14 team. I doubt a Renard or Patrice coached team could lose this badly. Zambian coaches need some serious technical training to avoid future embarrassments.

    • @ concerned citizen niwe marabish cabe, bankana have always lost to zamalek, it has nothing to do with zambian coaches. u v an imbedded idea that what is foreign is better our own, have confidence.

    • @ concerned zambian sori, i did not mean to say ‘niwe marabish‘ i meant to say the performance of nkana is rubbish…

    • You want to know what is next for Nkana? What is next is to continue representing Zambia this time in CAF Confederation cup and win the 13th league title. NKANA 4 LIFE.

  2. Nkana had been away from such competition for too long for us to expect them to do anything miraculous. Nevetheless Egypt whose league was in recess because of the political revolution in that country shouldn’t be so high up as to beat Zambia’s champions 5-0. That kind of outclassing is for real amateur opposition. Orlando Pirates beat Zamalek in Egypt

  3. KALAMPA BA MU KALAMPA..The technical part in the Zambian football circles still leaves so much to be desired bakaamba…we need professional psychologists not Ing’anga OR sang’omas or bamuzimu….see the way my TEAM The Gallants MINE COPS – KONKOLA MINE POLICE FC….. will fare this year with my free services as the psychologist… I FEEL SO SAD FOR OUR REPS…

    • What did lilya ikula mean? Ever since he joined Swallows he is yet to score a goal and the team hasn’t won any game. U cannot compare Moroka Swallows the team Katongo is playing for in SA is to Nkana? U and Katongo are all rubbish. GO KALAMPA, WE ARE WITH YOU FOREVER MOREOVER WE STILL HAVE THE CONFEDERATION CUP AND THE 2014 LEAGUE TO WIN.

    • Hi Jay Jay, I have no words for you today. Anyway, I am gland that you are not the one “attacking” the coach. Nkana has never and will never be my team. I am disappointed for Zesco though.

  4. What did lilya ikula mean? Ever since he joined Swallows he is yet to score a goal and the team hasn’t won any game. U cannot compare Moroka Swallows the team Katongo is playing for in SA to Nkana, Nkana is far much better. U and your Katongo are all rubbish. GO KALAMPA, WE ARE WITH YOU FOREVER MOREOVER WE STILL HAVE THE CONFEDERATION CUP TO PLAY AND THE 2014 SUPER LEAGUE TO WIN.

    • One of the things he mentioned was consistency. You also need maturity, exposure, mental strength, tenacity, discipline and experience to play at the international level. These things are cardinal and you trivialise them at your own peril. Yes being young and skilful is an added advantage but its not enough.

  5. psychologist, ges u r right.psychology in football is real and Zambian teams seem to miss that link.hard luck kalampa, but I suppose zamalek was just too much for kalampa.the home game showed it all.13th title? Power may get their way.

  6. Nothing new… I recall a Nkana goal keeper being nicke named Zamalek coz of sheety results against the Egyptian team…. I think his name was Lumbwe .. No surprise here Zamalek beta team ,,,

  7. The usual story. We dont seem to learn or improve at all. What star players do Nkana have? They dont have any at all. They needed six or seven Zambian internationals in their starting line up to overcome Zamalek and compete effectively in the champions league. The other problem is the amateurism that is in Zambian football. Can amateurs beat professionals?Never!Thats why we cant compete.Nkana could have signed Mbesuma on loan,Chris Katongo(free agent) and many Zambian stars who sit on benches at their clubs.Ilyashi litali.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  8. Same old story! Iam sure they went into the match with so much fear and respect for Zamalek. In short they had already lost the game even before they got on the pitch and kicked the ball. Shows how average our players are. Favour from God should be backed up with hard work and technical intelligence. Coach should go to school and learn how to psyche players for such big games.

    What an embarrassment!

  9. Eish, I thought it was Nkana who won 5 – 0! gosh was i dreaming olo chani kansi? we need to strengthen our local league mwe

  10. Zambians don’t seem to be learning from previous mistakes. So now that Nkana lost, wat will be next for whichever team that will win the league this season? What will they do if they meet Zamalek to ensure maximum points and make a record? No one is thinking about these things and this will be put to rest and be history.
    Preparations must start immediately.

  11. The coaching Bench was pathetic. For a game like that, all the need to do was defend 101%. Pack the Bus in the goal as they say. Just have a lone striker for a quick counter attack. Aim for a draw and then extra time and then Penalties. In most cases, the underdog wins during penalties. It is very dissapointing that they couldnt do damage control. After conceed a goal, they should have parked the buses in the goal. Chapwa……

  12. Local Coaches are useless, too much corruption in Zambia. The whole Country smells like the PF, UPND and MMD. With these parties in Zambia they is no future for mother Zambia. Just imagine all the problems going in EGYPT and they can still beat Nkana.
