Guy Scott’s labeling of Given Lubinda as a dog with a bone was an insult to the people of Kabwata, his family and clan-HH

hh [1]

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has accused Vice President Guy Scott of practicing vulgar politics, replete with bullying Hichilema said that Dr. Scott ‘s only descriptions for other people were derogatory names to disrespect them.

In an interview, Hichilema said that Dr. Scott’s likening of Patriotic Front Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda to a dog with a bone was an insult to the people of Kabwata, to his family and clan.

He said that Dr. Scott was a bully who wanted to scare Zambians by using derogatory remarks such as the ones he used against Lubinda.

“I was shocked that Dr. Scott as Vice President could use such derogatory remarks against one of his senior members in the PF. Lubinda worked hard for the PF to be where it is today. Why likening Lubinda to a dog? Where are the morals in that man (Scott) he thinks Zambia is still in colonial days where racial and insulting remarks should be tolerated? Dr. Scott has just proved to be uncalled for, what he sees in people is colour and tribe,” said Hichilema.

The outspoken opposition leader said that PF leaders must be kept in check to avoid abusing Zambians, “they know no kind words apart from insults. The PF is an insulting party. A few months ago when I made a comment about people condemned me but what has happened now that he is likening Lubinda to a dog?”

Hichilema said Zambians should wake up and defend the country from people like Scott who did not have respect for his fellow human being.

“What Scott sees in other human beings are dogs, animals. It is not me that is what he said. He was quoted by his friends as saying that Lubinda should not be like a dog with a bone that has lost its flavour. Honestly is that the language which must be encouraged coming from number two in government? How did Lubinda and his family feel about this statement by Scott? These are racial remarks and Scott should grow up and stop abusing people in such a manner,” said Hichilema.

Hichilema said that he was compelled to speak out on this matter because Dr. Scott had continued insulting Zambians at will.

He said that Scott has been insulting Zambians on various fora when he has an opportunity to do so without any challenge.

“It is up to us to stop this bullying especially from our leaders, they have to be responsible enough in the manner they respond to people. There is no way Zambia can develop with people like Scott at the helm of the governance of the country,” said Hichilema.

Hichilema wondered why President Sata had continued keeping an insulting and disrepective Vice President.

Surely a normal thinking person cannot support what this colonialist said about Lubinda. @Gen, it is evident that you and your Sata are sellouts.

Gay Scott, must do the honourable thing of leaving Zambia and go where he belongs. f.oo.lish old white man. Its only Sata the traitor who can entertain this racist pi.g masquerading as Zambia’s vice -president.

@Gen; you mean you can’t see the tribalist that Sata is? He has been one throughout his life and I guess to you that is fine and you can only see tribalism in others.

#6 Comment By kolwe On March 31, 2014 @ 5:19 pm

Dog with a bone – it is an idiomatic expression. to refuse to stop thinking about or talking about a subject. Imbwa never stops licking the bone, even though soupu yapwa,it still licks the bone. thats where the expression derives its meaning and origin. sticking to a subject even when it considered over and done with. Now, we need to contextualize when the said expression was said and to what subject!! Only then can we clearly see the racial remark tendencies here!! However, when Scott chooses to consistently use expressions which involve animals to compare umwina zambia, then it becomes clear and evident that he is racist. Its the subconcious brain of his which quickly brings animalistic idiomatic expressions,whenever the subject is a black man, to his conscious brain.question is why??

I am Bemba and my statement has nothing to do with tribe.

#15 Comment By Kamukati On March 31, 2014 @ 4:54 pm

I think from my judgement things are changing, the tribal painting will not work. And one day I will be vindicated. Zambians are not fools. We shall come in masses to drum up support and my relatives in Northern province are not happy at all with the status quo. I am proud to be Zambian and I want Zambia to be a better place whether under a Lozi, Tonga, Bemba, Bisa, Soli etc leader it does not matter but if one is able to deliver I will give my support. I have given support where the government is doing well and I will continue to do so. But the country is collapsing my fellow Zambians.

#16 Comment By Kamukati On March 31, 2014 @ 5:13 pm

I travel frequently and what I have observed for the past 2 years is unbelievable. My heart bleeds….Let us stop the politics of worshiping some people. Even the opposition, we have to ask them want they can do for Zambia before voting for them. However, the manifestos are not enough because we have been cheated before. The voter has no confidence. One may ask; what is the alternative? My suggestion is to have regular debates involving those aspiring for plot 1. This will give a coherent picture of their caliber. The panacea for development is knowledge and the nucleus is effective governance and leadership.

I hope and wish he did not utter such words, this is an indication of tough times for the motherland. Such is the conduct of rulers, they fail to use appropriate words for fellow human beings. This level of behaviour by a parent, a senior government official cannot and should not be allowed in a nation such as ours. Time has come for Zambians to correct the situation. The faith leaders should immediately lead the nation and restore the dignity that our parents fought for. Guy should be among the least of persons to utter such words – so much could have been said about him. If Zambians were racist – Guy Scott would have been the first target but alas – he is now insulting our parents – this is sad and provocative to all Zambians

#32 Comment By HH – Only time will tell On March 31, 2014 @ 2:18 pm

This is how HH is so bent on inciting fights. It’s a shame that HH chose to misinterpret that figure of speech. When the Bible says the devil is like a Lion does that make the devil a Lion. HH had a choice of what to say and how to say it to either promote peace or incite a fight and he chose war over peace. This is a person aspiring to be the president. HH has allowed his bitterness to impair his ability to make sound decisions and choices. It’s like telling someone that so n so was saying this and that about you so that that person can get upset and go fight ( children do such things) . Only time will tell where HH is leading us.

Absolutely, it is an idiom! If we accept English, we also need to take time and understand the context in which certain things are said.

Who is being vulgar now?
It is also clear that GL’s heart is not in PF anymore, he is always being found on the wrong side of the fight, this was not his battle to fight but Sesheke Villager WH.
Let Lubinda keep his distance from divisive issues, Bwinjimfumu are not happy over this issue, the big fallout will follow soon.

Guy Scott is a racist. Is he not the same person who insulted MPs by saying that they are monkeys?

Racism is in his blood. Once a racist, always a racist. His words show that he considers Africans to be ranked as inherently inferior to those with a pig skin like his. He thinks pig skinned people have superior inheritable traits, abilities, or qualities.

Because of his stupid racist behaviour he holds that Africans should be treated differently. What a colonial mentality! This colonialists!

Should anyone of us, admirers of this government’s efforts to develop our country, sink so low as to associate Chimbwi or hyena with the President’s or indeed with anyone’s clan/tribe? Really, if Hon. Lubinda felt so insulted, why can he himself escalate the issue?

Really Bo HH you are sounding so childish and dallo man. Its you who called scot as a stuupiid white man and scot has never called you anything. Scot uses an idiom on Lubinda, Lubinda understands it and keeps quiet but you HH since you are a racist and tribalist you see tribe, clan and race in the idiom scot used. What a desperate person you are HH. Remember that now us Zambians have come to know you as a very terrible tribalist and racist. If you want to win the 2016 elections, please change your tribalist mentality. Wishing you all the best.

Peace and Prosperity to mother Zambia.

@Chilyata,

Excuse me! Which comment could not be accepted in his Britain/Scotland? Are you kidding?

If Zambians could simply blush aside the Chimbwi silly comments coming out from a someone’s frustrated mouth, why should anyone in Britain be offended so cheaply by “a dog with a bone to grind…” comment?

I am afraid, your leader’s (HH) lack of exposure and decorum coupled with your lack of education betrays you.

@LOVELY

I think HH is educated than you because it CANNOT spell ‘see’ as ‘sea’ as you did in your first comment

@CHILYATA

Do you live or stay in Britain or the UK?

I don’t live in YOUR Britain but I stayed in the UK during the reigns of the Major, the late auntie Margie and Cameron as British PMs.

Mind you English (UK/English) English differs from British English otherwise Scott’s language on Lubinda was harmless and non offensive….

I wish you could invite HH over there to see for himself first hand how they do their politics before the President takes him to India!

Given Lubinda is a valued member of PF and its government.
However, Given does not deserve to be abused or dehumanized like all Zambians, he deserves respect and dignity. Its this underpinning value that HH, Chipimo jr, Mumba, Sondashi, Miyanda, Mpombo, me and even Sata should condemn comments attributed to Lubinda by Vice president Guy Scott.
