UPND deputy president for administration Richard Kapita says politics of stereotyping and labeling being practiced in Lusaka would make one think Zambia was on a verge of civil war against each yet all the lovely people of Zambia were the same and still united as before.

“I can assure you that as UPND when we come into power in 2016 through your support, politics of bickering, tribal stereotyping and labeling that has taken center stage for many years will not be our priority, but hard work for our people,” he said.

Speaking when he addressed several wards, constituency, district, and provincial party recruitment and mobilization meetings in his 20-days marathon tour of Luapula and Northern provinces, Mr. Kapita said he could not also understand why such a beautiful country blessed with all manner of resources should be poor and dependent on borrowed resources like the PF were doing.

Mr Kapita said Luapula province alone is endowed with huge economical potential, climatic conditions, landscapes, and water bodies that any country in this world needs to develop fully.

“When I look at just the water bodies, landscape, climatic conditions and the beautiful people of Luapula province surely something should be wrong with the priorities being set by those in leadership and I fear God will never forgive us for not setting correct policies for our people”, he said.

He said with the right policies and leadership in power, Luapula province alone can create employment and feed the entire Zambia through fishing, agriculture, industries in sugar plantation, rice growing, palm oil, and tourism something that many developed countries do not have.

And Mr. Kapita says he was surprised with the rapid growth that the UPND has managed since he visited the province last year and shows that people across the country were embracing the party as a serious alternative.

He said it was surprising that people in various wards, constituencies, and districts in Luapula province were taking up the initiative to set-up structures on their own.

“Most of these structures I am meeting here were actually set-up even without our knowledge in Lusaka. I must confess I am very embarrassed but at the same time very encouraged with this development. I cannot imagine, but very impressed, that you people have already even identified possible UPND candidates for wards and constituencies for 2016,” he said.

He said the UPND will from now onwards pay particular attention to Luapula province through regular visitations by senior party leadership including the party president Hakainde Hichilema.

And UPND National Chairperson Ms. Mutale Nalumango who is part of the entourage appreciated that a lot of groundwork has been done in places visited so far such as Mwense, Mwansabombwe, Nchelenge and Chiengi districts but stressed that more work needed to be done and make UPND the strongest party in the province.

The delegation that has also been paying courtesy calls to traditional leadership comprises party Chairperson for Labour Percy Chanda, party campaign team leader Bernard Mpundu who is also former Minister in the MMD administration, Party Chairperson for Local government Regina Musokotwane and other officials.

And Mr. Chanda stressed the need to recruit more members from all age groups and gender in the province as party of party mobilization.

And the party leadership in the province complained of lack of regular visits by senior party leadership, a situation they described as quite frustrating at times.

They said they were now encouraged to meet senior party officials and were eagerly awaiting party president Mr. Hichilema, who should have been in the entourage but some other urgent party programme and came up.

  1. All the way until there is sanity in politics in Zambia. Abash thug politics of today.

    • As the days progress UPND sounds like the party of the day. There is a greater likelihood they will form the next government and it won’t be a bad choice then again any choice is better than PF! Zambia needs to stop finding itself in these situations. We need to have two formidable parties competing at least.Come MMD pull up your socks!

    • we will never surrender our beloved and beautiful country called Zambia to a growling pack of wolves called UPND

      NEVER!!

    • “I can assure you that as UPND when we come into power in 2016 through your support, politics of bickering, tribal stereotyping and labeling that has taken center stage for many years will not be our priority, but hard work for our people,”

BA KAPITA NAIMWE KANSHI MWALIBA NOBUFI BWAPAKUNYA (to use RB’s language)? TRIBALISM, RACISM, REGIONALISM AND HATRED IS RIGHT FROM THE DOOR STEPS OF YOUR UPND PARTY. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO ABANDON THE ABOVE MENTIONED IF AND IF YOU COME INTO POWER? YOU ARE IN FACT THROUGH YOUR PRESIDENT WHO CARELESSLY CREATE THE IMPRESSION THAT ZAMBIA IS ON THE VERGE OF A SERIOUS CIVIL WAR BY YOUR CARELESS TALK. YOU DON’T EVEN CARE ABOUT POTENTIAL INESTORS CHANGING THEIR MIND BECAUSE OF WHAT YOUR PARTY FALSELY TELLS THE WORLD IN THE MEDIA.

    • PF should accept that this is how the end begins. Ask KK about how the Kamalondo’s (MHSRIP) were lying to him about UNIP still being popular when the MMD winds of change were sweeping the country – this is what UPND is doing; sweeping every corner clean and ready for 2016. PF are just having their last bite of the dirty corruption money and the free collarless chinese jackets and suits. GO UPND GO!!!

  2. Another useless, clueless past-use-by-date political alarmist like Dante Sauders.

Please give us a break – it’s only Monday. I am more tolerate of such crap on Fridays.

  3. Why these extra wise UPND not in the news everyday? Every time one of these Presidential materials talks, I feel so sober. But not those daily useless Kabimba and the hopeless Kaingus, you feel like squeezing their soul out of the wasted material.

    • You are right. There is something very wrong with Zambian politicians. They sound useful and trustworthy when they are still in the opposition camp. But once they are in the ruling seat they become so useless it hurts. May be the country’s politicians are cursed, hence the abundance of turncoats and wet blankets in Zambia’s political arena.

  4. You are all the same ba koswe.I come from Luapula, you are telling me all the politicians ahve not seen the potentail luapaula has?just singing ifyabupuba, you suck. Tuli ba tubulu ifwe, period!

  5. Thats true. One gets a false picture especially if you are outside Zambia and reading news on sites like ZWD and Zibani Zambia.

    • But then, when you come back to Zambia, you realize that a bunch of deceivers has hijacked the Country and its sole purpose for existence is to stay in power in order to destroy few achievements of the past 50 years.
Saulosi, please make majority of people happy by diving under speeding rubbish track.

  6. Spot on. These politicians are messing and dividing the country big time. We who traverse this vast and beautiful country and dinning with people in remote areas do not experience the tribal crap we are fed with everyday by these politicians. That ka short man at the Past newspaper and his kind should be told that their tribal nonsense is disgusting.

  7. Upnd the way to go! You will indeed form the most effective, productive, progressive, inclusive, developmental oriented, most intelengent…. government ever since independent. Thanks Nalumango & Kapita for your wisdom that is all Zambia needs.

  8. You guys do not contaminate my lovely people of Luapula with yo politics of hatred. Basheni beka and never shud yu go back there. My people are busy preparing for harvest time. Mr. Kapita yu ar a lost Politician!

  9. The whole country is ready for real change. HH is the man to rule this country, especially with the massive wealth of Knowledge in economic management and hands on experience in agriculture.

Mind you, the late Mr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa and late Mundia Sikatana admitted using the UPND manifesto on agriculture in 2002 because MMD’s manifesto on agriculture had failed. The move by the two comrades has resulted into the bumper harvests this country has continued to record even when PF have failed to deliver inputs on time.

  10. For sure One Zambia One Nation. Rwanda is celebrating the 20yrs of Genocide.

But will move as a United people. UPND, PF and MMD battle it out.

Soon and very soon the system is changing. NORMAL TRIBAL POLITIC but only credibility POLITICS.

Viva Kapita, Viva Nalumingo Viva UPND.

    and MMD battle it out.
Soon and very soon the system is changing.
NO more TRIBAL POLITIC but only credibility
    POLITICS.
Viva Kapita, Viva Nalumingo Viva UPND

  12. 2016 will leave summer shocked to find himself out of politics and facing the people of Zambia as an individual. Summer should recall that he is not a representative of any group of people other than being appointed.

  13. Waiting for 2016 mwebantu when people shall cry again that they have lost elections. In 2011, it was the same …the same people were saying they would win and lost terribly even in 2016 it will be the same. I am just waiting for that year and day.

  14. Ha ha ha , which Luapula? People should not be cheated the province is foot to head still PF. It will take a bulldozer to move one person from PF to UPND. Just came back from there last night after spending time in Mansa, Mwense and Samfya.

  15. USELESS AND DECEIPTIVE STATEMENT. THERE IS NO POLITICAL PARTY IN ZAMBIA THAT PROMOTES TRIBAL POLITICS MORE THAN UPND. SO IWE KAPITA JUST SHUT THE HELL UP.

  16. PF are not invincible. If UPND can demonstrate national “complexion” in word and in deed and are all inclusive as they build a new cadre of following across the length and breadth of this nation , they can upset the balance of power in 2016. This country is in dire need of fresh and inspirational leadership that is lacking in the present government.

  17. The usual uselessness is playing out because most of the reporting is equally bankrupt, incompetent, and useless. There are omissions in reporting at best, at worst most reports are full of cynical insinuations and gossipy assumptions. That added to a band of useless representatives…

  18. You think we are fools in Luapula we have not seen our potential. Go and cheat your people in Tonga land. We are too advanced for you.

  19. But it is your U5 HH who is busy practicing that kind of politics and giving that impression…..

  20. Richard ,
How can you tell us the people of Luapula are beautiful? Are you real? The ugliest people in Zambia are from Luapula.

  21. @Sata knows me Better.

You ve made my night man….hahahahaha Kabimba is INDIRECTLY INSULTING GOD for giving him tht Father. He is so Useless.

Viva Luapula for UPND and ths Old Man who tricked by naming Airport after our 2 Heros. Nkumbula and Kapwepwe.

Tongaz, Bembaz , Tumbukaz and ALL ZAMBIANS will b one.

  22. This will never end. If UPND thinks this rubbish they have started will end, then they are burying their heads in the sand.

  23. It is not necessary to talk about tribalism. All of us are Zambians. Luapula is for all Zambian and any one is free to talk about it. Come to Solwezi and learn from Kaondes who have embraced all tribes to work in their beautiful mines. Stop peddling tribalism or risk being cursed forever. Viva One Zambia One Nation.

  24. Kapita with borrowed political proverbs you are cheating yourselves. We are not ready to relinguish power to an underfive candidate

  25. Ku nyanya fye. Only a fool will praise what the useless dreamer is preaching. How are you going to change the mindset of Zambians to achieve waht you are vomiting. Its very easy to vomit than putting food into your mouth. Keep on having fake dreams.

  26. When people are associated with other leaders, mostly of the kind associated with attrocities or wanted to some extent, or people with little insight, foresight or ideology that is criminal, untrustworthy and limited, or people who are eager to please, or people who are easily led, or people who would wield a machete (like those used in Rwanda), or people who are the law but don’t practice it, or people who manipulate the law, or people who refuse to listen to the people, or people who hide from the people, or people who don’t provide true, honest and evidenced information……or people that lie, cheat and steal…and everyone can see it on the wall then that is likely to give this impression.

  27. This is nonsense at the verge of civil war? The guys that say such rubbish should be tried for treason Zambians are civilized we can fight but we are still united no! civil war. We might dislike each other but not to the point of killing one another where have you seen in Zambia a Lozi kill a Bemba or a Bemba kill a Lozi due to tribal hatred. In a house hold brothers and sisters fight but in the end the love they have for each other is greater than the hatred and that is what matters.
