Students Unions in the country have been challenged to be active in their participation in governance and national matters.
Former Copperbelt University Students Union (COBUSU) Secretary General, Levy Sakala, told QFM News in an interview that the student movements in the major universities in Zambia are not influencing government policies in the positive direction.
Mr. Sakala said the student movement should have been in the forefront in demanding for the release of the final republican constitution unlike what is experienced now.
He said the current students unions are not vibrant, because during his time, student unions were strong and that the student movement is supposed to influence government policy in the positive direction.
The former COBUSU Secretary General sais that student unions needed to be revived in the positive sense so that they are able to shadow the government.
He has since encouraged students unions to take a big role in demanding for the release of the final draft constitution.

Talking is simple!!! better said than done.
This guy was no secretary general of ours. The fella resigned two months into his tenure. Have some pride Sakala. You failed to govern, offered no leadership and here you are trying to offer leadership advice.
I guess U want them to push your agenda. They’ve school agenda to attend to!
I have warned my son against joining hotheads that want to spend TEN years at UNZA through participation in wrong causes.
