Mandevu Member of Parliament Jean Kapata has told Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Leader Hakainde Hichilema to desist from issuing statements on the Constitution as the Patriotic Front (PF) government will deliver its promise to people at an appropriate time.
And Ms. Kapata, who is also Tourism and Arts Minister, notes that it is unfortunate that the opposition is not giving proper checks and balances to the government.
She says the opposition is instead concentrating on the issue of the Constitution.
Ms Kapata says people in the country should keep it in mind that the PF government has not refused to deliver a people driven constitution but that it will deliver it at an appropriate time as there are a number of projects that require adequate attention.
The Mandevu PF Member of Parliament was speaking in her constituency today when she received one thousand two hundred defectors out of which nine hundred and four came from the MMD while one twenty four from the UPND.
Speaking Earlier, PF Lusaka District Chairperson Mulenga Sata also castigated opposition political parties who are assuming that the ruling PF has lost popularity due the manner in which it is handling the constitutional making process.
Mr. Sata, who is also Mayor of Lusaka and son of republican President Michael Sata, has also expressed happiness at the number of defectors joining the ruling party stating that this is a sign that PF is ready for 2016 elections.
He has since called on party members not to close doors for people willing to join the ruling PF.
And the defectors from two political parties have vowed to work with the ruling party saying that they are convinced that the PF government is working as evidenced by the number of projects that have been worked upon in Mandevu constituency.
If its true, let them go they will fall together with the Panga Family(PF) come 2016. Maybe they are in the same class with Mr Munkombwe”politics of the Belly” Who knows?

The PF will shock many political amateurs in 2016 because victory for them is almost guaranteed.Any serious political analyst can attest to the fact that the two main opposition political parties are only popular in their traditional strongholds with the MMD slightly losing its grip on Eastern,Western and N/W provinces.This gives the PF and UPND to share the spoils thereby giving the PF an advantage.If the UPND is to make a difference,they need to work extra hard in PF’s traditional strongholds.Looking at the many developmental projects the government has initiated,it gives an electoral advantage to the PF.One can underestimate the PF at their own peril.

Did you just wake up after 2011? The Rural electrification programme has been around for 10 years. It is been going on since that time. Between 2000 and 2010 Zambia attained 100% primary school enrolment, life expectancy increased from 38 to 52 years, infant and maternal mortality rates were both brought below 100 per thousand etc etc. So my dear stop kidding yourself with your mirage of PF successes. This is the First Ministerial Action by the newly appointed Tourism Minister! All members of cabinet are now out to talk about PF, and in their shallow thinking, this is equivalent to what Sata told them; to go back to the constituents and explain what the government is doing. Am one of those who voted for PF to kick the MMD out of office after it lost respect for the Zambian citizens, to say the least am still PF but closely monitoring wat our leaders in PF are doing. Honestly speaking things are not ok at the moment. Try to take a ride on one of the public transports & bring out issues related to PF & hear wat a common man is saying, seriously we have lost it starting from the marketeers, lowly paid including our galaant youths who gave us most votes wen we needed them most.
