The Zambia Police have been challenged to state their position on directives by PF Copperbelt chairman Stardy Mwale that they should seek permission from the ruling party before granting permission to opposition political parties intending to hold meetings.

UPND Copperbelt provincial chairperson Elisha Matambo said it was unfortunate that police could not arrest Mr Mwale even after he admitted that he sent his team of ruffians to disrupt a programme on which Mr Hichilema was appearing at SUN Radio of Ndola at the weekend.

Mr Matambo said it was the first time in the history of Zambia that party cadres had dared police on how they should execute their duties.

He called on the Zambia Police to show their independence when enforcing law and order.

“Zambians should be on the lookout as democracy is slowly being wiped away by the PF who cannot accept divergent views from other political parties because they have failed to deliver on their promises.
“We are challenging the police to tell the nation that they have failed to arrest Mwale and the thugs who fired guns at the radio station and unleashed panga and machete wielding cadres on the UPND supporters and police officers.
“As a party that knows the sufferings of the people of this country we would like to ask every Zambians to stand up and condemn in strongest terms the behavior of the thugs at Sun Radio and to rise up and defend the democracy that this country has enjoyed for 48 years. Why should things change now that PF is in power,” he said.

He said opposition political parties had worked in harmony with all the past PF chairpersons in the province who respected different views from the opposite side.Mr Matambo said plans by the PF to destabilise the opposition would not yield results as they would not be intimidated even by the panga carrying thugs.

“We shall give them the correct dosage if police have failed to do their job. How can Mwale say police should seek permission from him, who is he?
If the police are not going to arrest Mwale then Zambians will believe that they are another branch of the PF,” Matambo said.

    • The police position should be neutral. Anyone who has any idea of politics and the law would know. What’s her name from Lusaka went to ensure that the Ndola commissioner understood this…one can hope. As for permission…..how ridiculous!!! protest and demonstration are very different to a meeting or gathering. Could someone please tell this Situdy guy and every else who doesn’t understand the public order act. Even a grade 7 can tell you that….thats why the education system is being ruined…to bring everyone down to their level.

  1. My appeal is to the Police command to show professionalism otherwise very soon we shall see bloodshed.
UPND has said that they will army itself for any attack. This is very serious matter because Police has failed to protect Zambians but only to protect PF thugs.
Remember no party remains in power forever and governments change so such unprofessional conduct by police women gives me doubt if this is the leadership we shall have when we have a woman as a president.
We need fair play PF for you to call yourself popular not oppression, intimation and violating of other peoples rights.
Time will come when you will be answerable to the entire world.

  2. THE SO-CALLED POLICE CANNOT BE PROFESSIONAL UNDER THE CURRENT CONSTITUTION WHICH WAS MADE BY KK DURING THE ONE PARTY STATE ERA.
THAT IS WHY THE CURRENT RULERS DON’T WANT A NEW CONSTITUTION.

  3. Police have so many issues to contain with ranging from social, spiritual and academic.

  4. I watched this thing called Mwale ranting on TV when being interviewed by Muvi TV. He accused the cops of giving bene HH permission without first going through the PF party and this shocked me beyond belief. He further went to say ati ‘We have a list of policemen here who we know are working against the party and we shall flush them out!’ People please, honestly you guys who support PF, bene Mpundu Trust and them, show that you are capable of even a tiny amount of impartiality by condemning at least just this statement by mwale coz if not, i will seriously doubt the completeness of your mental faculties. Chaps like 2201 Kalanga and them should not bother coz even if they found Wynter kabimba banging their wives, they would still praise wynter.

  5. These PF are slowly turning Zambia into Congo Dr,they say blood is thicker than water and indeed is thicker than water, we can see them through their works

  6. ZAMBIA HAS WELL, & TRULY GONE TO THE DOGS!!!
    Thank You Panga Fraternity -(P.F).
    I rest my case!

  7. Where are the PF kaponyas like Saulosi, Gen, Kalanga Street, Dr kasonde, Mushota , Mpundu Trust etc all gone to? Come back here and turn truth on its head!

  8. Elizabeth Chitika said Chiluba said it in 2001 that i can’t give the Presidency to Sata; “teti asunge abantu, kuntu abapatanya” and here we are.

I am very upset that innocent citizens are being harassed just for belonging to a different party. Chili ndwii mu state house and very primitive as usual. wake up and start leading, iwe chi Sata. Say something about the violence. Also there is a provision for resigning in your contract in case you are not aware.

  9. What is going on in that country is precisely why nations fail. It is a clear template and the route plan is clearly laid out. How do you bring 1960s politics in the 21st Century? It still beats me…

  10. the above picture it doesnt give good reading, its just like in katanga Congo Dr, this is what poverty can do,we no longer value education in Zambia, We value Tribe connections, being a malitia for a political party, this is a price of voting politician without idealogy
