The Patriotic Front (PF) in Kasama has disowned former MMD supporter Kelvin Sampa and has warned its members against associating with him alleging that he was carrying out clandestine political campaigns in the area.

The ruling party has warned of stern action against if they conducted any business with Kelvin Sampa.

“There is no by-election in Kasama Central and no one should be campaigning. We have seen a child rights activist going round making donations and campaigning in the name of the PF. We want to disassociate our party from such activities,” Monta, the Kasama district PF chairperson, who was flanked by the district political secretary Zebron Kashiba lamented.

The development comes after Sampa made a series of generous donations to several private and government institutions in Kasama recently. The critics said the public should investigate Sampa’s true motives and objectives for the donations as well as establish the source of the wealth he was lavishing.

Some observers both in the PF and outside the ruling party questioned Sampa’s huge generosity in Kasama where he donated vehicles, cash and bed linen and other items. Sampa defended his lavishing saying he was merely making humanitarian gestures to the people in an area where he was born and bred.

Senior party officials in Kasama have said that Kelvin Sampa had been accused of plotting to be adopted as the parliamentary candidate on the PF ticket in an event the incumbent Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba was expelled and he wanted to use the donations as a stepping stone to his political career.

“The directive to stop our members from associating with Kelvin Sampa comes in the wake of accusations that Mr Samapa was carrying out a clandestine campaign for the Kasama Central parliamentary seat after he was seen in the company of PF carders at some of the events where he made donations to the underprivileged,” said Kasama PF district chairperson Caleb Monta.

Monta warned that any party member who would be seen in the company of Kelvin Sampa would face stiff disciplinary action that they would regret for the rest of their lives.
Monta said the donations from Kelvin Sampa had no blessings from the PF because Sampa was making the generosity in his own personal capacity that had nothing to do with the ruling party.

Last week, two factions from Sampa and incumbent Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) openly clashed in the Kasama central trading district, bringing business to a stand still for several hours and it took police in riot gear to restore order.

The clashes were sparked by Sampa’s donations in which his supporters went to provoke their counterparts from the GBM group. The GBM campaccused Sampa of making maneuvers to unseat the current MP using donations and posing as a Child Rights Activist.

But in reaction, Sampa said he had no political ambitions in Kasama, adding that his generosity was motivated by the love to serve the people he grew up with and that he had conducted similar donations in other places across Zambia.

  1. Sampa is an opportunist. He tried to implicate Dr. Mahtani in league with Sakwiba Sikota, Ody’s and Ventriglia of Zambezi Portland Cement. He is a turncoat and jumps from clock to boat and come 2016 will be out stretching his palm.

  2. The reason why Sample is being associated with PF is that he among other things;

    1. Donated two (2) vehicles to PF. Why not any other party??
    2.Moving with PF cadres in chitenge and waving the PF symbol at any function.
    3.He appeared at a time when there was confusion in Kasama district/pending expulsion of GBM.

  3. donating to people he grew up with! In kasama? Kelvin is an opportunist, Ba kateka be wary of this chap! look at the mess he has left RB in!
