VICE-President Guy Scott has said that Zambians have started seeing the fruits of voting the Patriotic Front (PF) into the Government as the party is determined to deliver according to its campaign promises.

Dr Scott said when the PF was going round the country campaigning, it promised to uplift people’s living standards once in power and now the fruits have started materialising.

Speaking at the launch of the first of the 169 communication towers for mobile phones in Chief Matanda’s area in Mansa yesterday, Dr Scott said the PF under President Sata is working hard to deliver services to the people.

The Government, through the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA), will build 169 communication towers across the country to enhance communication services.

“You are just beginning to see the fruits of electing PF and President Sata in power. We are just two and half years in the Government and we have delivered much on our campaign promises.

“Now can you imagine what will happen when we are there for more years,’’ he said.

Dr Scott said that having a communication facility in Matanda is important for the people of that area who have been yearning for it.

He said communication is an important aspect to human life.

At the same function, Dr Scott donated 300 handsets to women and youth clubs to enable them to communicate better in their activities.

“The Chinese Ambassador to Zambia has donated to you, I have also donated 300 phones and these will go to women and youth clubs and vulnerable people so that you can start hiring them and make some money out of them,’’ he said.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Zhao Yuxiao assured that the towers being erected will improve services as the company contracted, Huawei, is reputable.

The ambassador also donated 100 phones to the people of Matanda.

Chief Matanda thanked Government for building a tower in his chiefdom saying people in his area would be able to communicate with their relatives and friends in other parts of the country and beyond.

He said the PF government under President Sata has done what other past governments had failed to do for the people of Matanda.

Chief Matanda said this was proof Government cares for the poor.

“What we have seen today here is something that will go a long way in the memory of my subjects. My subjects are extremely happy. Just recently we received an ambulance.

We have seen a number of clinics and schools in my chiefdom are being built, so as their chief, I am saying we are very happy with this Government,’’ he said.

Speaking earlier, ZICTA board chairperson Emmanuel Musonda thanked the PF Government for ensuring that rural areas are connected to communication systems through building towers in all areas.

Mr Musonda said the rural communications project had been on the table for a long time but because of the PF government’s commitment, it has started moving.

  1. stupid white man, stupid chief. who hires phones? and how much would one make? this is how low Scott thinks our people.

    • What an Embarrassing ***** this Man is…………. people expected so much from him…. what a disappointment!

    • This stupid aging white hobo has the audacity to insult our people through his uncalculated and clumsy discourse, in which he wants real Zambians to dream that they are benefiting from Sata’s lies, insults and threats. This naïve white man with his outdated form of education which is not applicable anywhere except in the PF dysfunctional regime, must go to hell. We neither need him nor his ranting. He is poor and whatever he possesses has been accumulated at the expense of needy deserving Zambians. Viva brother HHHHHH and viva UNPD. Power to the real Zambians not to imposters and traitors or former ‘sell outs’ informants such as Sata.

    • Guy Scott even your wife knows that things have got worse under PF. Very soon she will leave you if you continue with your stupidity.

The only fruits people can see for voting PF is an INCREASED COST OF LIVING AND LOWER STANDARDS OF LIVING. Fuel has just gone up and you are busy voting rubbish that PF is doing a good job. This proves that Scott you are demented just like your boss mad Sata.

Sata and his PF team are completely out of touch. They continues to bribe the people for support but what they should know is that such support based on bribes lasts for as long as the people continue to receive bribes.

People lets rally behind the front runner HH and vote UPND in 2016. Its only the UPND team that will correct all these things PF are getting wrong.

UPND and HH , I am in!

    • This is pure trash coming from this d!ck-head. Guy Scott is a true definition and manifestation of stupidity in white people. Only corrupt Sata and his PF are seeing the fruits, and not the ordinary Zambians.

    • Folks Sata is finished! Is that how his suits hangs on him like that. We should start counting days not week or months.

Its true what @Matipa said that “infula pakuya ilaonaula ifitabo” in reference to Sata’s state of poor health. Thats why the first lady is busy globe trotting so that she get some fresh air . She is tired of the stench of illness from the dying serpent.

    • upnd cadre, you are the one and your kind who are stupd. The Chief and his people are appreciating schools, clinics and now mobile communication while your kind are busy press conferencing in your secretariat on irrelevant issues on a daily basis. Come 2016 Muzalila bashetani.

    • Who hasn’t seen fruits of having voted for the PF already.

In 2011 a 25kg bag of Mealie Meal was K35, it now K80
      In 2011 a Litre of Petrol was K7.35, it’s now K10.62
The Kwacha is 80% more worthless than it was during Late President Mwanawasa’s time.
Electricity Tarrifs have been increased threefold. People are now spending more than they did prior to 2011
Water Bills have increased by almost 50% in the past two and half years
      Bus fares have proportionally increased

Muzungu Opusa, yes we have seen the fruits of this huge mistake we made in 2011. Never again

  2. The Vice President should be sincere enough. The fuel pump prices were adjusted up wards last night. The cost of living will go up for a poor Zambian.

  3. Yes drankard, we can see the results alright,,, we are not blind!!!! High fuel prices, high mealie meal prices, high electricity tariffs, poor medical services, exploding debt level, extreme violence, human right abuses, corruption, unprecedented deaths on the roads, destruction of agricultural system, rapid kea hs devaluation,,,, need I go on? I can if you want! And all this in 2 and half years? Yes we can imagine how it will be if you are there more years

    • nail on head mwana. the more pf stays the more Zambia vanishes on the map. will be like Zim soon

    • @Old Rug, This is just a passing phase, remember the copper prices have never plummeted forever. They will rebound and you will be left licking your wounds. The plan to equip ZNS camps and Prisons with milling plants will for sure bring this commodity down. Wina azalila!!!

  4. Its true that we have started seeing the fruits of voting for PF.High fuel, meal meal, transport and other costs.
we have also seen the legalizing of street vending, thugs moving freely with panga and guns in Zambian streets and the break down of rule and law in Zambia.
Who can not see the grabbing of land by cadres and locking of government offices by cadres.
If you can boost of 169 towers what about MMD which even brought the mobile companies and how many towers are constructed across the country.
How can you make money by hiring a phone now when they are at K45.
Guy Scott. Thanks for showing us your true fruits by giving us the Ester gift of increase in fuel prices

  5. The white man is dead right, the cost of Fuel and living going up,those are the fruits,I miss RUPIAH BANDA,zambia was a better country under him than these guys.

    • Rupiah Banda was just as useless. If you said that about late President Mwanawasa MHSRIP I would agree with you.

  6. Dr Scott you are in dream land, Mobile towers is not development ,in fact mobile companies are they ones who were supposed to build those towers, we pay for towers and they charge us talk time, that’s dull thinking, and at least boast if you reduced inflation, stabilized the kwacha, increased investments, fixed the economy, anyone can build and not everyone can fix a bad economy, when the economy bites people will free those places despite good structures , it happens everywhere including the. US

  7. Yes indeed Mr. Guy Scott, Zambians have seen sour and rotten fruits for mistakenly voting for the PF, a party endowed with deceit, violence, refusal to honour its campaign promises no respect for Traditional Rulers. Come 2016 KUYA BEBELE

  8. This just goes to show how racist Scott is. He has the audacity to talk in this patronizing and contemptuous way toa black audience. There is no way he could go before his own people (white that is) in some Scottish county, if he had been an mp or Vice President there, and tell them that putting up telecom towers was proof of development happening. Why are we Zambians allowing this?

  9. The Vice President should know that Zambians are not fools who cant see what is happening in the country. It is very irritating for PF to continue boosting for what they have not achieved. We the people are the ones that should be left to judge and our findings has been that PF has failed us in many areas.

  10. I agree with Scott. We can see the fruits but these fruits are too sour and usually leave a very bad after test after testing them.

  11. This guy is insane! Zambians are seeing the rotten fruits being produced by PF and are actually regretting having voted for them.

  12. What fruits are we seeing sure mr veep..da only fruit we have seen is a very bitter one which your government has given to us:fuel hike price .this is all you have given us…were u not the ones who condemned the fuel price during great MMD reign that the price was too high which in the actual sense was better than what you have given u?you have opened your on exit door come 2016

  13. …true…fruits indeed….. defying science ‘norms’….planting what one thought is an orange or apple seed only to geminate into a strange tree and bearing lemon, orange and apple fruits…..but only the handfull manage to climb and shake the tree….. and the lemons drop off for the majority down there to scramble for them while the oranges and apples hold on to be consumed by those who have made it up there.
That’s why they get shocked when they come down only to find lemons….yes, shocked of the price of mealie meal. shocked of the dirt water people drink, shocked of the fuel price, tomatoes, transport cost…..eeish
So the VP is damn right depending if one is up the ‘tree’ or under the tree…..

  14. we have started your excellence… i mean we have always wanted expensive fuel and very expensive maize meal. oh and freedom of assorciation of any of the freedoms on our bill of rights ….overrated. we zambian never wanted that staff. you guys are godsent

  15. In english they say if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, IT MUST BE A DUCK!

Yes Scott, we have seen the fruits of PF, but it looks more like a big heap of SHlT than fruit!

  16. Chingebenga cheni cheni chamuzunguchi! Chimuzungu chopusadi kwa basi ndithu! Chikuthi tero koma mutengo wa ufa, wa petulo ndi ya talk time yomwe imango kwera!

  17. Ba vice president which part of zambia are u domiciled? U have messed up the economy.Women and children r crying bcz of the high price crisis.
The kwacha is nose diving each and every day.
Bwana vice b realistic and dont bury yo face in the sand.

  18. who is getting the same salary as he was in 2011? ask the companies else were they make adjustments because the factors surrounding their operations are costly such of which are been affected by the overseas charges do you part as well bring your ideas that you just sitting and waiting for the PF or the NEXT UNKNOWN PARTY with no experience to solve economic problems but selfish leaders

    • Iam sure minions like you you have never heard of a thing called “Planning.”

Take time to learn what magic A PLAN can do then maybe you will understand what “THE NEXT UNKNOWN PARTY” always talks about. If your CNP PF had a plan, things would be better.

As for DOING SOMETHING – who does not know that your Panga Family are the almighty, all-knowing, all-powerful chumbu munshololwa. When we try to offer solutions we are insulted like he.ll.

  19. According to Scott, the improved standard of living means accessing Sata’s facebook using phones. What a bad dream from a white man.

  20. At least there was a road to Nakonde in RBs time. There is non as at the moment. I was at pains to be made to drive through the bush because trucks were stuck in the on the so called main road. The clearing process at Nakonde border is total chaos due to the ill planned constructions taking place at the border. Does this government know how to prioritise development ? Does this government know how much we are depending on Dar es Salaam port and the revenue coming from Nakonde Border? VP take a drive to Nakonde and review your statement. Please do not fly.

  21. We are missing the PF Kaponyas on this blog! Too hungry and broke to comment? You shall eat mobile masts and don’t even have talk time to page -word of warning.. it’s gonna get worse before it gets better when we usher in HH son of the land to correct this huge injustice to the people of Zambia. Haleisa Haleisa, Habwela Habwela, Hulaboola Hulaboola, Hurray Hurray, Hosana Hosana, Hurry Hurry HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  22. the PF even have the audacity to insult people like this? i have never seen this kind of arrogance from an elected govt.

  23. HE IS VERY RIGHT AND I AGREE WITH HIM.

There are fruits that can nourish your body and there are fruits that can poison your body or even out rightly kill you.

I’m sure Ba Scott is referring to those fruits which are poisonous that have come about as a result of voting for PF and he is right. Yes there are so many fruits that Zambians are seeing as a result of voting for PF. Unfortunately most of them are poisonous.

    • PF have in fact found themselves in a stalemate and are perhaps are too confused to realize the predicament that they are in.

  24. Let me give a glimpse of the source of the PF vote in 2016: 1. the street vendor who have been allowed to make a living and will be afraid to give a vote to opposition who will chase them 2. the Govt worker who has received bumper harvest that was condemned by the opposition 3. The villager who has never seen a tarmac before and it is on his door step 4. the enlightened who have appreciated the revitalization of the country at a fast rate never seen since the Kaunda early days. Street lights are coming back and going green with solar. 5. The new districts whose inhabitants have seen new buildings made of blocks for the first time in their lives. Come 2016, when cost living picks up again, who will listen or watch kadansa?

    • @Chabwera: You are such an i.di.ot really! For someone who is hungry and has an empty stomach, what is the use of Street light, Tarmac or even houses made from concrete blocks etc? They just want to survive and your fantasies! Wake up fella!

  25. Guy Scott’s comments are a chain of errors, omissions and manipulative wording. The PF government needs to convene genuine debate which is not stifled by gun and panga wielding cadres.

Guy Scott is a descendant of British immigrants that cherished democracy, but alas Guy Scott has failed to advice Sata to stop the violence coming from PF cadres. The failure of Guy Scott is caused by his 100% reliance on Mmembe’s Post which has failed lamentably to observe traditional journalism standards of accuracy, objectivity, and comprehensiveness.

  26. PF shall balance the budget and the development. It has taken the long path of development, the infrastructure development, the fruits of which will be visible in medium term, it shall immediately resort to short-term measures of reducing the cost of living for poor people. Good intended projects will lose their value and appeal to voters if they are not balanced with immediate relief. PF shall go back to drawing board and think through it.

  27. Which fruits sir? Fresh one or rotten ones… edible or poisonous? Just asking sir.

  28. This shows hw these pipo thnk abt zambians,Bt it matter where he make such statements i do’nt thnk de muzungu can make a useles speech like that in a place like solwez town or any other city, bcoz even sum1 uducated can tel from de prices of enssetial comodities nw de useles vp think making those remarks wil regain them who thought they were?sory my nkambo!do’nt mk ful of those villagers.NOTICE :WHEN A POLITICAL PARTY STARTS MAKING STATEMENTS IN RURAL AREAS IT MEANS THERE IS NOTHING ELSE BUT DEATH.

  29. Guy Scott is damn right, we have started seeing the fruits of having pf in power. it cant be said better, or is it worse!
