Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has challenged the Zambia police to move in and arrest the Patriotic Front cadres that are threatening to harm fellow citizens.

FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi has told Qfm news in an interview that police should not entertain anyone breaking the law regardless of their political affiliation.

Mr. Chipenzi observes that they are citizens who are proposing and committing violence in full view of the police but they are not brought before the law.

On Friday the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka and the Copperbelt Provinces vowed to protect the President and party leadership using whatever means necessary.

Lusaka Province Chairperson Geoffrey Chumbwe said the ruling party is being forced to act violently against opposition leaders due to continued insults against Republican President and the party leadership.

Chumbwe said youths in the party will not fold their arms while the opposition continues to insult the President.

And United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has expressed disappointment at Zambia police officers who are custodian of maintaining law and order by their actions of running away from PF cadres armed with machetes threatening innocent people’s lives.

Mr. Hichilema says the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed the situation where the law enforcement is executed only to protect the PF members.

The opposition leader adds that PF cadres are terrorizing people on their legally acquired land but the Home Affairs Minister is mute.

  1. ……I ve a views:

    1. As a country we shud ‘ humbly’ ( thru voting of course) ask PF to leave govt and will get back to them after sometime.
    2. We shud keep ALL the major parties (PF,UPND& MMD) intact. And these shud b OUR Major parties like the USA or the UK or Indian way.
    3. Lets work hard to change the Constitution to allow Coalition govt/ 50+1.
    4. Let b Unkted as Zambians either PF or whoever and lets ‘mutually’ agree on this. Fhen Zambia will DEVELOP TRIBAL ISSUES ASIDE.

Please publish my VIEWS. IVE A GREATER PLAN of we can POSITIVELY change politics of our country for GOOD.
    GOD BLESS Zambia.

  2. FODEP BE PROACTIVE
THANKS FOR FODEP TO SPEAK OUT AT LAST. BUT WISH IS FODEP SHOULD QUICK TO CONDEMN WHEN ANY THING BAD HAPPENS IN THE COUNTRY. WHY SHOULD IT TAKE OVER ONE WEEK FOR FODEP TO SPEAK OUT TO WHAT HAPPENED TO HH IN NDOLA. ITS LIKE THIS HAS COME AS AN AFTER THOUGHT. WE ARE ZAMBIANS. ALOT OF US RESPECT THE VIOCE OF REASON FROM FODEP AND OTHER INDEPENDENT BODIES. BUT IF IT CAN TAKE ONE WEEK PLUS DAYS FOR FODEP TO SPEAK OUT . THEN WE BEGIN TO THINK OTHER WISE. ONCE AGAIN FODEP I THANK YOU FOR CONDEMNING PF THUGS. BUT WHAT IS STILL WORRYING IS THE CULTURE OF PF POLICE WHO ARE CONDEMNING THE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE INSTEAD OF PF THUGS. IN RUFUNSA POLICE WHERE CALLED *****S AND IN NDOLA THEY WERE THREATENED TO BE SORTED OUT BY PF CADRES. PLESE POLICE STOP THESE PF THUGS TO AVERT…

  3. I call for an Indaba on Policing in Zambia. It should bring together the Police, Judiciary, members of the executive, parliament, civil society and former victims of political violence. Let resolutions be made and publicised. We cannot watch our country slide back to stone age political violence while we watch. We all want peace and to allow our women and children, young and old to enjoy peace and prosperity. Our Police is just too powerless against politicians and fake government officials like that Deputy Permanent Secretary Zulu who spearheaded political violence in Rufunsa. All this becoz of an outdated constitution. If we do not nip this trend in the bud we’ll have ourselves to blame for the mayhem that will befall us in 2016.

  4. ba fodep…what about those that insult innocent people and in the process instigate violence.the insult by saying kaponyas and uneducated and forgeting that these are the pipo that vote.shame on fodep.ask the police to arrest the educated insulters first ,atleast thats what civilized pipo and thats what we do where i come from. so in short am asking to ask the educated villagers to stop insulting the civilized uneducate kaponyas
