The opposition MMD has commenced disciplinary action against five of its senior members for putting the name of the party in disrepute.

The five are Dora Siliya, Vice Presidents Michael Kaingu, Brian Chituwo, Lucky Mulusa and Tobias Kafumukache.

MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu confirmed that he had written letters to the five asking them to exculpate themselves.

Mr Lungu said the letters written yesterday should give them five a chance to explain their actions.

“This process was agreed upon at the last NEC meeting, we resolved to commence disciplinary procedures against the five officials for bringing the name of the MMD into disrepute and disregarding the President’s order for cease fire. They have up to 21 days to respond,” Mr Lungu said.

Meanwhile, Mr Lungu has disputed media reports that he was blocked from entering the MMD secretariat yesterday by cadres supporting those opposed to Dr Nevers Mumba’s leadership.

He said he reported for work in the morning and only left the Secretariat after intelligence reports indicated that four bus loads had been hired full of cadres to cause confusion at the Secretariat.

“It is incorrect to state that I was blocked. I was not blocked. I reported for work and carried out a few tasks. I only left the secretariat when I realized that the thugs from Chibolya were coming to cause confusion. As a law abiding citizen, I left the Secretariat to avoid anarchy and I called the police.”

Mr Lungu said Police officers arrived around 14 Hours and dispersed the cadres after which he was able to enter the Secretariat around 16 Hours.

He also revealed that he will today lodge in an official complaint to the Zambia Police and have the cadres cited for trespass.

  1. I get the feeling there are gunning up on Ms Siliya.

Surely she is an asset for any party that takes her?

She has made mistakes but haven’t we all?

That is not the way you treat a woman, who has worked hard for this country and brought joy to many millions in this country

I am so disappointed with their move here.

DOra hung in there, the majority here at LT are with you

    Thanks

    • One has to admire the “deepth” of democratic principles embedded and being practiced in the MMD despite all the forces behind the current challenges. I cant help but think of the Ruling Party Vs GBM and how he was expelled without following due process and yet, here we have had these “PF sponsored rascals” making noise and calling for undemocratic change of leadership for months now who are now rightly being subjected to expulsion but ONLY after an NEC decision.
The other camp sought an injunction in the dark hours of Sunday in an attempt to halt an NEC meeting which they could have attended to put their case forward.
It wont take a mathematician to work out who between the two camps, has democracy rooted in them…

    • All the sudden Dora has become a saint. That is how the mind works; its the MMD that he hate so much and anyone that is willing to be used to destroy MMD becomes a saint. I am waiting for a day will our politics will mature and we shall have freedom to listen to our inner being. We need freedom from poverty the most and then freedom from inferiority, freedom from fear, freedom from intimidation etc..

    • Had a lot of respect for the five and confidence in them, but wow! I don’t think so now especially the queen her self.

    • MMD hold it together and expel the traitors!! 2016 please come quickly,,, its time for real change,,,, just check right now the kwacha has gone bananas against the dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • First young Muhabi Lungu as CEO is an excellent start point.Revitalising MMD lies in energetic new team that this clean soldier of the Lord Dr Nevers Mumba lays down today. There is a will to form the next government irrespective of opposing forces both internal and external, so they will always be a way.In moving the party forward,MMD must de-clutter the top by scrapping the Vice Presidency for now and let those functions be delegated to various NEC members as additional responsibilities as they arise.Unless someone chooses to be blind,lMMD remains admirably democratic.Traitors get a chance too.Thats why there is a lot of interest of voters. In the west if one fundamentally disagrees with an established party, they resign their position rather than use every weapon in the book to destroy it.

    • Proud of DR Mumba and MMD, very civilised and dignifield in the way they handle issues. Way to go fellas now kick those traitors far far away!

  2. Kick out these spineless malcontents if they cannot tow the party line! The “dead wood” must be “hired guns” brought in to cause confusion and disturb MMD position to prepare for elections in 2016. They must be fired from the party and left to rot on the pile of history. They are a retrogressive lot ; nivachabe chabe vimambala.

  3. Too bad that our former ruling party is experiencing such problems. If you survive this storm you will confirm that you are indeed strong. I don’t like you MMD but you must survive and live vibrantly.

  4. Forward with the party! Nevers and Muhabi must get down to work immediately so the party can rout the dysfunctional, tribalist, nepotistic and cronyist government bent on peverting the constitution. You have the support of the people.

    • Never’s i a tribalist, and not Sata. in 2006 at the late Mr Fube’s house in Mufulira. Never’s said these words” Aba Bemba tabtekwa”. The wise Mr Fuba father to Kelvin castigated him and asked him leave the house. He was trying to solicit Elderman Fube’s support to challenge Mwanwasa at the 2006 Convention.

  5. Only a mad person can feel pity for Dora Siliya. Zambians you early forget how stupid this girl when she was minister?

  6. MMD will and can never come aback. For now it just a spoiler for pf votes. Pf and MMD will fish from the same bemba pond, leavin HH un garded. HH will score but sata will dis allow the goal as offside.

  7. Now i know why Levy Mwanawasa did not want the post of vice president in MMD.Vice chakuti——chakuti , will always cause problems.

  8. Declaring Psalm 91 and the blood of Jesus over DR Mumba, family MMD Supporters and all his supporters.

    • Where as this God of yours been then when Mumba has been losing all the elections he stood in? Across all the attempts he has made, he has failed to secure any more than a few, i.e. less than 10K, thousand votes added up together.
Not even his Church people would vote for him. Now you are telling me that God is all of a sudden interested this fraudster?
People like you rely on the fact that God actually does not exist, you know that very well and hence why you abuse his name because if he were to exist, he would really punish you for your selfish abuse of his name. You are lucky God is just a myth and you should thank your luck stars for that.

  9. MMD don’t give up! We need you strong to keep Zambia’s democracy alive.Shame on Dora Siliya,Dr Chituwo , Lucky Mulusa and that broke fellow Kafumukache. Shame on your selfish souls,do not realise you are helping destroy Zambia’s future?

  10. MMD IS A TREND SETTER WHERE DEMOCRACY IS CONCERNED.

PF, UPND SHUD LEARN FROM MMD HOW TO DISCIPLINE ERRORRING MEMBERS; MMD IS DEMOCRATIC.

    VIVA MUHABI ;VIVA DR MUMBA.

  11. This is proper management. MMD is better with few dedicated members than hungry hyenas whose motive is to eat (Ukulya). I hope RB will keep a distance from these two factions because he will be soiled.

  12. @ 18 and 19-Sata will try to use RB but RB is far ahead of these PF scoundrels. MMD is not finished and will not die till it takes Zambia back from PF and that is coming sooner than you can imagine. The end of PF, its sinister Cartel and Money-laundering financiers. All will be laundered properly before despatching them to the place they permanently belong.

  13. I somehow have a terrible feeling about what is happening in MMD. This party that calls itself the mother of democracy is rushing too quickly in expelling its members. what happened to the talk they wanted to have with the Chituwo and Co.? There’s more than meets the eye. If Chituwo and team leave, what will remain of MMD? No, I think Nevers is well advised to slow down and not to get too excited. He has a party to run but not the way he is running it. And Muhabi needs to mature quickly. This is not Unzasu politics he is engaging in. If him and Nevers are not careful, they will soon have a shell of a party in their hands. How will they feel if Kaingu and team joined HH or even Chipimo? My advise to Muhabi and Nevers, slow down, take a breathe and Yes PRAY! Don’t rush with these…

    • Read the article before you comment, bwana. No one is firing them right away.Even with the level indiscipline, anarchy, call it whatever you wish, Kaingu, Dora and co have exhibited, the new MMD CEO has given them 21days to explain their actions, this is in addition to months of rowdy behaviour far removed from the kind you would expect of a party vice president or senior NEC members. Their departure will be good riddance. It will allow Dr Mumba’s new team to begin strategizing for 2016 with focus. I doubt it if HH, Chipimo or CNP himself will want to work with someone who constantly undermines him. From the lot its only Mulusa with a political brain, the rest are hopeless.

    • Kaingu and team are a spent force. They are well passed “the use by date”. What popularity can they command on their own? MMD can re – model themselves under Nevers and the vibrant Muhabi and inject new life in the party.
