Kennedy Mweene is celebrating his first South Africa PSL league title while there was pain for Joseph Musonda and Co.

Mweene, who was between the posts on Tuesday night, picked up his first league title after ten years in the PSL after keeping a cleansheet for Mamelodi Sundowns who beat SuperSport United 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

Sundowns win saw them reach an unassailable 64 points from 29 matches with a game to spare while 2012/2013 champions Kaizer Chiefs will have to settle for second place.

This is Mweene’s first season at Sundowns after nine seasons at Free State Stars.

Meanwhile, there was heartbreak down in Durban at Golden Arrows where Joseph Musonda witnessed from the bench as his club was demoted after losing 1-0 away in their derby at Amazulu.

Christopher Katongo played the full 90 minute while Festus Mbewe was substituted in the 84th minute.

Arrows finish the season bottom in 16th place as the curtain came down on the Durban side after 14 years of non-stop stay in the SA PSL.

  1. Congratulations our No1 Keeper. Well deserved, for a Continental Champion, after a very long wait.

  2. What kind of amashamo Chris Katongo akwata kanshi. Everywhere he goes, the team he joins get relegated. Now he has pushed best player Joseph Musonda in jeopardy.
