Forest silence Mighty to go top

Forest Rangers moved to the top of the FAZ Division One North table after beating Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 2-1 away at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira on Sunday.

Forest have now opened a one-point lead at the top of the table with 16 points from eight matches.

Chisopa Malama gave Forest an early lead after scoring a 15th minute own goal before midfielder Jacob Ngulube equalised for Wanderers.

Forest got the winner when Marcel Chewe headed in a well taken corner-kick by Freddy Sutra Tshimenga in the 40th minute.

Mighty now drops from third to sixth place on the table after Sunday’s loss.

At Independence Stadium in Kalulushi, a goal each by Mike Katiba and Chalwe Mailoshi propelled Kalulushi Modern Stars to a 2-0 win over visiting Kansanshi Dynamos in Kalulushi.

The victory aided Kalulushi to move into second place on the 18-team Division One North table.

Alex Musungu’s Mufulira Blackpool thumped Zesco Luapula 3-1 at Kachofa Stadium in Kamuchanga to move out of the relegation zone.

Blackpool scored through Focus Sinkala, Christopher Chola, and Caleb Chansa before Lameck Simusamba got a consolation goal for the Mansa outfit.

At Garden Park Stadium in Kitwe, a first half penalty by Peckings

“Dada” Chinyimba helped Mining Rangers beat visiting Lumwana Radiants 1-0.

Earlier at the same venue, Kitwe United were held to a goalless draw by visiting FQMO mining Operation while Nkwiza beat Chambishi 1-0 away
in Kalulushi Town.
