Poor Power Dynamos fail to impress, Zesco shocked

Share

Power Dynamos failed to impress today while Zesco United suffered a shock defeat away at promoted Green Eagles.

At Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka, leaders Power failed to show anything close to championship contender material after playing out to a scoreless draw against Assembly.

Power’s performance was epitomised in striker Alex Ngonga who continues to enjoy favoured status with coach Tennant Chilumba despite failing to find the target since April 5 when he scored a brace in a 6-0 home win over Konkola Mine Police.

On Saturday, Ngonga continued to blow hot and cold before fizzling out late in the second half when he was replaced by Martin Phiri.

Power could be replaced at the top for the first time this season on Sunday if second placed Zanaco beat Indeni at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

Zanaco are on 18 points, one less than Power.

Meanwhile in Choma, Eagles dispatched Zesco back to Ndola with a 3-1 home win.

The win was Eagles first of the season.

Paul Malama scored a brace in the 5th and 17th minutes, Mateo Ndashe added the final goal in the 30th minute.

Jackson Mwanza scored Zesco’s consolation in the 71st minute.

Zesco drop from second to third on 18 points after the defeat.

  1. Power’s biggest mistake is to engage Chilumba as coach. This fellow is has no technical abilities to drill a team of power’s stature. With this fellow Power will get no where to win the league. The false start will soon crumble and power will get back to the 7th Position sooner or later. Please can power wake up now and get rid of this of pretender before it is too late.

  2. A draw is fair on away matches.. I don’t see any season to critise Power Dynamos.
Instead, talk of Nkana’s 0-2 loss and Mwale’s pre match comments whereby he said he would not accept anything other than a win.. Now.. After the defeat will he resign???

  3. Ba Zamfoot, Kalampa has only played 6 matches not the 7 you are showing on this table. I am suprised by Kanjimaano who is comparing Nkana’s loss to Al Ahly and Power’s draw at National Assembly. The two leagues are different my man or woman. Al Ahly is a global and classy team which you will be all wrong to compare with a minion team like National Assembly. Embrace the advice from Goodluck and improve your power dynamos because living in denial will not help you or you have team in any way.
