Kambwili: Nkana must win Confed Cup

Share

Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has told Nkana players to win the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup in honour of their coach Masauso Mwale who died in a road accident on Friday.

Kambwili said winning the Confederation Cup would be the best way of mourning Mwale.

He was speaking to players after Saturday’s Confederation Cup Group B match between Nkana and Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast that finished 1-1 at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Nkana met Sewe less than 24 hours after Mwale died in a car clash on the Ndola-Kitwe Duo carriage way near Maposa area in Luanshya.

“I want to urge you that the best way to mourn your coach is to go all the way through and win this tournament,” Kambwili said.

He praised Nkana’s character in the game against Sewe that came less than a day after Mwale’s death.

“We are very proud of you as government, you played well. It is not easy to lose a coach and you perform well as you did.”

Nkana’s next Confederation Cup match is against Etoile du Sahel on June 6 in Tunisia.
