  1. Maize even at k65 is very expensive. We need to invest in technologies that reduces the acidity of the soil like liming and the rest so that the amount of maize produced can be increased per hectare

    • yayayayaya…………agriculture is a base industry that supports all other industries. it can also be the largest employing sector if properly managed. HH you have a point. it also encourages rural development and reduces rural to urban drift like it is now in town we have more unskilled labour than is necessary. those who cant find any work are now turning into thieves

    • Saulosi is just a misguided fellow who will oppose anything so long it is uttered by HH, no matter how sensible it is. What you should know scatterbrain is that pricing in agriculture has everything to do with productivity and production, and the ability of the sector to create employment as its profitability has potential to pull in a good section of our population that may currently be interested in venturing into agriculture but see it as unprofitable due to such issues as poor pricing and chaotic market systems. If you are doubting what I am saying talk to Ben Kapita, former Minister of Agric so he tells you how managed to revive the cotton industry just by dealing with the pricing mechanism.

    • for the first time i think HH is missing the point here,,,,,,, i think the first priority should UPND form govt is to grab back the 14bn from Mmembe and Nchito,,,, the 14billion will help Zambia during the state funeral, because the eonomy is under alot of stress at the moment

    • Oh ! Calling a spade a spade ha ? I didn’t see that coming.Never thought i would see a day in which you will disagree with HH.I`m impressed.Keep it up Bo Ndobo.

    • ba Saulosi, am impressed too! looking forward to meeting at the state funeral… when the 14 bn is grab bak

    • Ha ha ha ati at the funeral. This Zambian watchdog fueled Sata death rumour has really excited a lot of you guys who support leaders whose only hope of winning in 2016 is if Sata dies. That moment won`t come baba, he is like Mugabe. For the past 15 years we have been hearing of Mugabe`s apparent sickness and death ,but almost 2 decades later he is still alive.I would advice you and your party to concentrate on selling your party vision than hoping for death to do the work for you.

    • @sailoso
you compare mugabe to sata? a misnomer, mugabe never bellowed tobacco smoke like an iron and steel smelter, never used to run around with women like a he goat, never used to drink anything that intoxicates ,even kachasu, then even illnesses and their charecter will differ. on sata just pray for him to repent of his numerous sins of even insulting others in court, certainly not to live beyond this year, it will be a miracle. sorry mune

    • @Ndobo, iwe naiwe stop ifyo ifya funerals. We need our superior, this world & Zambia needs chaotic minded people, we loose one will remain with NONE. You & me are too far.
I found umuti which can help out ubwanga bulebachusha.
And that HH is really becoming annoying, why not keep quiet when King Charles need some rest? Radios everywhere, ichongo!

    • Saulosi, I think you have a deceased brains. You have no capacity of analysing politicians. What this man HH is saying is the truth and the capacity to deliver the goods to us so let’s support him. Any well meaning zambian should rally behind his call.
Zambia n’s for once let’s credible people like HH.

    • I don’t understand this debate it’s from Maize to death, Sata will rule till 2021 my friends and by then Zambia will change for the better, for this once HH has given a constructive solution, i wonder if he has any hats to pull out of his bag or will he sing this song through out his campaign for 2016. Now can HH the economist comment on KCM, or is part of the locals who back such types of investors, or probably a beneficiary!!!!!

  2. If sata died today, would you people say its untimely death? I will wait and see how many presidents will attend.

    • Look whose talking. 90 days promises and you a$$holes went running to vote. Who is gullible between us who saw through the idiocy of 90 day promises and you daft twats who still believe that sh!t??

  3. Monkeys don’t do agriculture, they destroy it. There is evidence that monkeys were once loaned cattle for agriculture in their provinces and ended up slaughtering them for ‘UMUNANI’. MMD govt left money in BOZ its all gone. What do monkeys do in a maize field?, HH has a point in agriculture policy that resonates well with the rural Zambians. HH deserves your vote.

    • @Aquilla, After insulting the bembas you f00l and then asks for a vote. We will see if your relative will ever get a vote from us. Bembas say that “umwana ashenda atasha ngina ukunaya”. You Id.iot go to the northern part of Zambia and see how they have developed agriculture. You think wealth is about rearing cattle? Has Bill Gates got cattle? Has GBM got cattle? Have you been to BOZ offices and check in the treasury and find no money. You pathetic liar. In the meantime useless article. Same old lies. Yawning! Ready to bef

    • @QUllla.which bembas are happy with sata?the shilubembas?gbm? Or do you mean dollar in bembaland is less than k3? Come on stop pretending in the name of bemba. Sata has injured all areas of zambia-the chief, farmer, bus drivers, nurses etc and his sickness is now affecting the dollar and the longer he stays the more the kwacha will gain negative strength.

    • @Ganja Farmer, do you smoke or out of your stinking mind? You ask questions to assume as if there is no Bemba happy with Sata. You think you can outsmart us? Come 2016 you will receive a rude shock of your life you ganja smoker. Let all the projects finish and then you will be in shock because PF won’t need to campaign. Meanwhile keep on living in your fantasy world.

    • HH deserves nothing from me because he has never done anything for me. Let him attend to his “ranch” or “various leading corporates” or whatever. Politics is for different men than this one

    • @Quilla, you can continue voting Bemba for all we care, but the country will continue to go down under your watch. Yes you have the numbers to win elections and that’s the reason why Zambia is so poor becoz the majority of it’s people, who happen to be Bemba, are dumberheads who can’t produce anything. no wonder 90% of the food found in stores like shoprite is imported.

HH is talking about agriculture and all the lazy monkeys start yawning.

Ati “we will out smart you” everybody knows you people can never vote for anyone other than your own. And if HH is trying to get a Bemba vote he is wasting his time .Actually I want Sata to win in 2016 so the people can continue to suffer more until they realize that you Bembas are the most dull and lazy people on earth who have failed to…

    • Well Mr Mann, whether you like it or not Bembas are intelligent, can persevere in the harshest environment. Who told you that bembas are tribal? Who voted for Mwanawasa and RB? You I don’t hate Tongas. Don’t show your dullness on the internet. Zambia is backwards and Sata is trying by all means to catch in terms of infrastructure. So you call L8000, L400,600 health posts, chiawa bridge, upgraded UTH, upgraded Airports, new universities, upgraded UNZA, bumper harvest of 3.3 million tonnes of maize Chingola Kitwe dual carriageway etc as backward? For USA, England etc to teach where they are, they went through a lot, worse than us. The kwacha is under pressure due to high demand mostly coming from construction going on. There are a lot of highly educated bembas

  4. Market forces, cycles of nature in agriculture and politics of promises – those three will never align bwana HH, its just like the sun, earth and moon rarely aligning.

    • At times it’s a sign of maturity when someone acknowledges the validity of points advanced without prejudice. The truth of the matter is that Zambia could do better with favourable agriculture policies that would in turn incentivize the farmers. What HH is saying is exactly what major farming countries offer their farmers. Look at France, Holland or the States. To oppose everything that the opposition proposes by certain sections of society just exposes the type of politics practiced in Zambia, that of tribal politics.

  5. NSHIMA A ZAMBIAN GOD!
Are Zambians that limited in innovation and invention where by it has to be Nshima all the way?! Maize and Nshima has proven to be your God so much that you’ve been enslaved and imprisoned you cant see it any other way….. How sad that You people would starve to death in a futuristic world were there would be no room for maize to grow. Move on and eat other nutritious foods that come cheap, you will see how these farmers will reduce their prices!

  6. This is Micky Mouse staff from HH!
In a free market economy, the invisible hand of market forces should decide commodity prices. It should not depend on someone’s announcement of what price to sell at!
    Cheap politicking indeed!

    • ….And which economic policies has Sata got?Borrowing and Borrowing.Bane the country is not going to eat projects on inkongole. We need planners to run this country!WHETEHR BEMBA ,LOZI TONGA OR LAMBA PERIOD!

  7. @qullla.its clear that sata who is pf won’t stand in 2016.do you think kambimba wynter can beat anyone who he can stand against?okey wynter is not bemba, would you vote for him on pf ticket? When did you become the bemba spokesman? Do you also know that there are bembaz borne from[ tonga, lozi, chewa, luvale, lenje etc] mothers? Grow up boy!

  8. THE SAME MISTAKES THAT ALL ASPIRING PRESIDENTS MAKE – EARLY FERTILISER DELIVERIES, HIGHER MAIZE PRICES, EARLY CROP MARKETING, FREE FERTILISERS TO FARMERS, ETC, BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY GET THERE? PLEASE, PLEASE, AVOID SUCH “VOTE” BUYING UNREALISTIC THINGS WHICH MAY WIN YOU VOTES BUT MAY MAKE YOUR LIFE AT PLOT ONE VERY DIFFICULT INDEED. YES, ANNOUNCING CROP PRICES EARLY IS GOOD BUT WHAT GOOD IF THE PRODUCE PRICES ARE NOT ATTRACTIVE. THE EXCUSE OF ANNOUNCING PRICES EARLY TO ALLOW FARMERS PLAN PROPERLY DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF FARMERS DO NOT INDEPENDENTLY PLAN BUT WAIT FOR GOVERNMENT PLANS AND SUBSIDIES. VOTE WINNING PRONOUNCEMENTS ARE POPULARITY LOSING PRONOUNCEMENTS AS WELL. TWO OPPOSING POLITICIANS ARE JUST TWO SHARP ENDS OF A VERY NASTY SHARP END & TWO POLITICAL…

    • You are comparing an educated and successful businessman to an uneducated former police constable and colonial informer? How many rimes were you Zambians warned by Chanda Chimba III ?You did not heed his advice. Now soon you will wa.nt to experiment with his son who only experience was selling ‘comboni” dogs.
Soon the campaign slogan will be: Vote back PF in oreder to fulfill Sata’s projects! Sounds familiar?

  9. U cannot fix the price before the marketing season HH. This will spiral some market failure. The government is right. What we need are just policies which will reduce market imperfections and eliminate distortions.Say something bwana.

    • You are the one lying. Simple basics around the cost of agro inputs and all one needs to produce a given crop for a given land mass as well as how much harvest will come out of it will give you an idea of what would be a profitable return for a farmer. Of course these basics will have to be married to other economical factors such as the fluidity of the currency which your government has messed up. By the way my advice to you is stick to your trade and leave farming matters to us farmers.

    • A FRIEND OF MINE ONCE TOLD ME: “WITH REGARD TO ZAMBIA’S AGRICULTURAL POLICIES, THE ONLY CONSISTENT THING THAT CAN ONE TALK ABOUT IS THE LACK OF CONSISTENCE ITSELF”!

  10. its good that most of you who’s comment’s are tribal are out of the country probably with the wife from your tribe committing incest leave Zambia n’s alone and you can not sell a political leader using his tribe the coutry has changed

  11. Dream on gay cowboy. (HH) if you dont stop being theoretical you will surely die having spent 1000s in fruitless election campaigns. you will surely never rule this country. what makes you think you will be able to announce the food crop floor prices well in advance? you dont even know the dynamics which lead to these announcements

  12. Let us pray for our president and and let the tribal leader continue to live in fantancy hoping for the demise of the president, what a useless and bad wish, God will punish him. The tribal leader is even expecting the majority bembas to vote for him, he wastes his time. You can not win an election if you excludes bembas. Come 2016, he will cry the loudest, that is when he will stop politics.

  13. (HH) you think maize marketing is as easy as opening the kraal and letting your cows wonder off into the pastures? inexperienced Under 5 tribal leader with blind tribal followers called UPND. they are dumb and they follow you like blind oxen

    • It is only difficult to people like you . You are a clueless lot and incompetent government. You’re the tribalist who is always talking about tribe.
