Blades end Power’s unbeaten run

Share

Power Dynamos’ ten-game unbeaten run in the 2014 FAZ Super League ended after Konkola Blades defeated them 1-0 at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe on Saturday.

Striker Humphrey Maseneko scored the lone goal after 22 minutes.

Maseneko beat keeper Becky Bizangi with a powerful shot after he was set up by Elson M’kandawire in the box.

After going down, Power threw everything at Blades in search of an equaliser that never came.

Second half substitute Jimmy Ndhlovu wasted two golden opportunities in the box when he shot slightly wide from similar positions.

This loss has come at a cost to Power who drops from second to third place on the table after now second placed Zesco United beat Napsa Stars 1-0 away in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, Power lost to Konkola minus the services of keeper Joshua Titima, wingers Lubambo Musonda and Kennedy Mudenda who are with the Chipolopolo squad that has camped in Lusaka ahead of the June 6 friendly against Japan in the United States.

    • It is still a long way to go, the league championship is open, ZANACO, POWER, ZESCO, etc, can still win it. So LCD don’t celebrate too soon about Power’s loss.

  1. I have said it before and I will say it again. Power have a coach who has no capacity to win the league. All he started with was false hopes. The chap has no clue on how organise and select a winning team. He is a shadow of himself and true colours are now showing. Watch the space…….soon and very soon power will drop to NO.10 on the league.

  2. Well done Konkola Blades we are behind you.Having produced a lot of talent players.During my stay in Chililabombwe you had players like; the Mwanza brothers Simon and Kenny,Dearnce Mutale,Paul Moses Malama,Ashios Melu,Jeff Sichande,Luckson Lungu,Winter Chisenga,Samuel”Simms” Chanda,Mita Chafu,Knox Kalonda,John ”BULIMBO”Tengwe,Edison Malizani Manda,Amazon Kambanje,Simon Mwansa Kombe, Willie Singoyi,George Zimba just to mention a few.
Border Boys continue picking points where possible because Zambian League has come with a lot of stiff competition among the Clubs.
