Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Bonnie Kapeso has denied allegations that the police in Muchinga Police hounded out the United Party for National Development (UPND) entourage in Chinsali District today.

Mr. Kapeso has told Qfm news in a telephone interview that police is only doing their job by advising the opposition not hold meetings without notifying the police in accordance with the Public Order Act.

Mr. Kapeso says there is need for political parties to abide by the Public Order Act and give notice to the police before holding public meetings.

Mr. Kapeso explains that the UPND should not exaggerate the situation on the ground but accept that police only advised the entourage to get permission seven days before holding their party meetings.

Earlier during the day UPND Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba told qfm news that the UPND entourage had been hounded out of Chinsali District were they are for party mobilization.

  1. The Zambia police should always bear in mind that, political parties come and go but the zambia police shall be there till the coming of ”JESUS CHRIST”so they should be impartial in the discharge of their duties, should there be any change of govt in 2016,all senior police officers should consider themselves fired and shall be replaced by the juniors!!

    • I would love to see that happen! In fact we should document all atrocities being committed by these cops so we can use it against them come 2016. We should fire them all – no benefits!

  2. The Public Order Act…the colourless animal….like water, it assumes the colour of the container.
Pre 2011 elections MCS and the VP literally camped in western and eastern provinces respectively….without any written notifications.
    Conversations usually went like this………
    Police commissioner WP……
….’Sir, Mr. Sata is here trying to conduct meetings, we have stopped him bcoz he hasn’t given us the notice as per POA. The problem is that he is defiant and using abusive language to the officers….can I lock him up??’

    RB…..
….’No officer, musiyeni tyala(leave him), just ensure all is peaceful. We don’t want him to come and complain that we were denying him platform to campaign after we beat him nafuti nafuti…..leave him..’

    Officer…
    …’Ok Sir’

    Now…

  3. Public Order Act…the colourless animal, like water…. assumes the colour of the container….

    RB….
‘No, musiyeni tyala(leave him). He shouldn’t come and complain that we denied him chance to campaign after we beat him nafuti nafuti..just leave him. But ensure peace prevails…’

  5. If indeed UPND did not give prior notice to Chinsali Police before going there for meetings, that is wrong and a sign incompetence on the part of the senior party leaders.

  6. Even if the opposition apply there is always an excuse as to why they can t hold rallies, Dictatership very rife here now:

  7. Even if 7days was given the permission wud be cancelled coward pf dictator who sends armed battalion to hound UPND out.

  8. The Party of Fascists will use the Police Force to trample on people’s liberties and rights. Expect worse before 2016.
