Nkana seek more good fortunes in Tunisia

Nkana seek their first 2014 Confederation Cup Group B win when they visit Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel on Saturday night in Sousse.

Nkana are bottom of Group B on one point from two matches played.

The match has an emotional tinge to it with Nkana return to the country where they secured their historic first ever continental group stage qualification on April 27 when they ejected CA Bizertin 1-1 on away goal rule secured under late coach Masauso Mwale.

“We have prepared adequately we are ready for the game and as you are aware we have played three games against the Arabs and I think we know they can do and we know what to do,” Nkana coach Zeddy Saileti said.

Saileti has travelled with a strong attack led by Evans Kangwa, Ronald Kampamba and Simon Bwalya including winger Bruce Musakanya who scored a brace in last Saturday’s 5-1 home league win over Green Buffaloes.

However, Nkana are still keeping their fingers crossed on striker Festus Mbewe’s FIFA clearance following the expiry of his six month loan stint at demoted South African club Golden Arrows.

Mbewe has travelled with the team and is on standby waiting the greenlight.

But the good news is that defender Christopher Munthali is back after serving his two match suspension to ease Nkana’s defensive owes in the absence of the suspended Billy Mwanza.

Meanwhile, Nkana face the 2006 winner who like them have yet to record a win in Group B with two points.

And Roger Lemerre’s side stay home for a second successive Group B game after they were held to a 1-1 draw by leaders Al Ahly of Egypt on May 24.

Etoile have two points, tied with third placed Sewe Sport of Cote d’Ivoire, while Al Ahly lead Group B on four points heading into round three of games this weekend.
