The Summit of the Group of 77 developing countries plus China (G77 + China) opens in the historical eastern city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, in South America this weekend.

The Summit brings together 133 developing and emerging countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia and over 100 high-level delegates, among them, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who is expected to deliver a key- note speech at the summit.

Twenty Heads of State from around the world are expected to attend the Summit and Zambia will be represented by the Vice President, Guy Scott.

According to a statement released to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Bolivia today by the Zambian Embassy in Brazil, Dr Scott is expected to arrive in Bolivia on Friday, June 13 ahead of the official opening of the Summit by the host president on June 14.

Bolivian President, Evo Morales, who is this year’s president of the bloc, has told the local media here that the UN Chief is expected to be part of the Summit of the G77 + China whose delegates have already started arriving.

Other speakers expected at the Summit include the President of the General Assembly of the UN His Excellency John W. Ashe.

Just like Zambia back home, the Santa Cruz G77 + China summit coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the bloc, which was founded in 1964 to jointly voice the concerns of the developing countries within
the UN system.

A number of activities have been lined up to celebrate the golden jubilee of the G77 + China Summit and the Zambian Vice President, Scott, is expected to give a speech during the commemoration of the G77 + China golden jubilee celebrations on Saturday June 15.

President Morales has indicated that the successful hosting of the Summit and the golden jubilee celebrations will not only make people of Bolivia happy but also bring glory to the entire Latin America.

The Group of 77 was established on the 15th of June 1964 during a United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) held in Geneva, Switzerland.

From the on-set, the conference that started with a group of 75 developing countries pledged to promote equality in the international economic and social order and promote the interests of the developing world.

The 2013, G77 + China Summit was held in Fiji, which is an island country in Melanesia in the South Pacific.

Meanwhile, President Morales yesterday visited the exhibition fair called Fexopo Cruz, the venue for the 2014 G77 + China Summit.

Addressing the media shortly after a conducted tour, President Morales said the venue will be closed to the public as from Thursday this week to prepare for the Summit that opens on Saturday.

President Morales said only people who have been accredited will have access to the facility before and during the summit.

  1. Hopefully he will represent Zambia in truest sense, if not going to organise his wildlife business??? who knows

  2. These are occasions you expect the head of state to represent his country, especially if he is has no busy schedule at home.

    • @cabbage, since when did he fall sick? he told us he is fit and working 24/7. I think he is just busy solving the kwacha problem, that is if he understands even a little of the complexities surrounding the kwacha.

    • iwe!Don,t you know of a term known as ‘delegation’.The president delegates who he wants? For your own info,i delegate some shoddy work given to me to my juniors. How many presidents ‘re there anyway!!

  3. HIS COMRADES ARE GATHERING TO DISCUS DEVELOPMENT IN THEIR COUNTRIES HIM HE IS BUSY DEMOLISHING PEOPLES HOUSES.WHEN HE IS DONE WITH THAT HE WILL START FIGHTING WITH CHIEFs AND THE EPISODE CONTINUES.GOD SURE WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO HAVE THIS MAN PRESIDENT.SATA HAS TAKEN US BACK TO SHAKA ZULU TIMES.SATA IS THE MOST BACKWARD PRESIDENT ZAMBIA HAS EVER HAD AND HE IS AN EMBARRASMENT TO HAVE HIM AS A PRESIDENT

  4. Scott had to go because the things they will be discussing are too complex for Mr. Michael Katongo Mwango Sata to understand…

The muzungu “VP” is not really the best person to represent Zambia but he is a better choice than our president. Every time our president goes outside the country he makes sure that he embarasses our country.

    • Guy Scott is a very intelligent man. You can say whatever you want about him but you can’t match his intelligence. Most of our MPs can’t match his intelligence. In fact of the politicians. The problem you have with him is that he says things as they are and you don’t like that. You want to be lied to.

    • You may want to believe that he is the “Chola Boy” as you so intimate here. However, for him to be afforded such limelight, Guy Scott is effectively the president who is running this country. The guy you call Sata is there in name only.

  5. Our audacity as Zambians knows no bounds. We think and believe passionately that we have a president, when all we have is a dissident.

  6. To represent Sata not Zambia. From which District , Chief and village if is Zambian in order for him to represent Zambia?

    • Guy Scott is from North Western Province. Check online where cabinet mentions that. He is Represents Zambia very well. In fact almost all Zambian tribes are not from Zambia. The true inhabitants of Zambia are the Khoisan people who are now in South Africa

    • You Faggot! Why always spitting smack? If you don’t have better things to say,i’ll advice you perverts to just start surfin adult sites and jerk off!Atase.

  7. During the time when he used to aspire for the office of president, Mr. Sata may have thought that the going would be easy and smooth. Since getting in there, through a historic victory over an incumbent, the going has been anything but easy, even among the naturally easy going Zambians.

The job has taken its toll on his life, his health, his family and his previously good and less stained reputation. At the end of the day, Mr. Sata may be asking himself the question: “Is this worth the price?” While it is true that the money may be good, the overall price seems to be way too astronomical.

He is now a confined man. Confined to a State House that has more or less become his prison; no longer the free man he once was and with less of the freedom he once enjoyed.

  8. I agree with Nastrudamas….
Way back Guy Scott said Im scottish so I don’t know anything about tribalism. He said this when kabimba accused kambwili of being a tribalist.

This is a clear indication that something is seriously wrong with our president….

    • You all should stop complaining; you all voted against good candidates and had very mean things to say about people like HH and Magande which would have been better choices than the two top clowns fighting to see how can rob the country more . You have made you bed, now enjoy the ride…. Fools! No mother Zambia is leading the race to the bottom. And when the Whiteman gets power, you will once again be put in chains….
