A 42 year old man appeared in the Lusaka magistrate court for spreading rumours that the Republican President would have died by May 30, 2014.
This is in a matter in which Michael Achiume of Libala South Township is facing one count of publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public.
It is alleged that Achiume on May 28, 2014 did falsely publish a statement which was likely to cause fear and alarm by stating that “the President will die by May 30, 2013”.
Achiume who earlier pleaded not guilty before magistrate Wushimanga could however not take plea yesterday after the charge sheet was amended by the State.
After the new charge was read out to him by Ms Wushimanga, his defence lawyer Jonas Zimba from Makebi Zulu and Company informed the court that his client could not take plea because they wanted to advise him on the route to take.
Ms Wushimanga has since adjourned the matter to July 18, 2014.Several other people have been arrested and appeared in different court for spreading similar falsehood about the President’s health.They include two United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres.
Nonsense, just leave Achiume alone. Sata is dying anyway. We do not wish Sata any recovery. We actually want this man dead. He is a nuisance to the country and Zambians at large.
Life does not revolve around Sata. When Sata was in opposition, he was wishing others dead, Mwanawasa, Mazoka, George Kunda, etc. Who is Sata? Who arrested him? Whats so special about this man? He’s just wasting taxpayers money sleeping at state house, doing nothing. We need a vibrant young intelligent president who will be all over Zambia checking on developmental projects.

What a ridiculous charge? How does the death of one failed president ’cause fear and alarm’ to the public? In fact it is Sata who must stand charged with so many crimes including corruption, nepotism and many others.
Sometimes Judges should throw out some of these cases for the sake of their own sanity and self respect.
Let is go to the courts and let the state prove that Sata was not sick on the material day.Zambians need an explanation as to why the president kept hundreds of people waiting at the National Heroes Stadium for the opening.He never showed up and now its a crime to speculate as to the reasons he didn’t? Never in Zambia’s history has a president failed to show up at an event without an explanation.Indeed someone needs to slap of those silly blond wigs of the heads of some magistrates.
I don’t see why a person should be arrested for claiming that someone will die by a particular date. Especially since no one knows for sure what day someone will die.
