PF Government concerned with negative reporting of online media

Share

Minister for Community Development, Mother and Child Health Dr. Joseph Katema
Dr. Joseph Katema

Information and Broadcasting Minister Joseph Katema has expressed concern over the negative reporting by some sectors of the media as this will affect investment in the country.Dr Katema noted that some sectors of online media have continued to concentrate on negative issues even when the country has recorded successes in some sectors of the economy.

He wondered how online media could woo investments with negative stories that are in some cases not based on facts.

Dr Katema said this when he addressed Embassy officials at the Zambian Embassy in Congo DR in Kinshasa yesterday.

He stated that some Zambians living outside the country believe that there are problems in the country even when the nation has continued to enjoy peace and has been making steady economic progress.

He observed that the same people who complain about the weakening of the Kwacha still persist on writing negative stories even when it had gained value.

Meanwhile, Government has expressed confidence that it will beat the June 14 2015 deadline for the implementation of the digital migration.

Dr Katema said government has made headways in implementing the first phase saying most television stations in the country have already procured equipment required for digital television.

He stated government had educated the television stations from the onset to procure digitally compliant equipment which could be used for both analogue and digital broadcasting when the television stations were being issued with broadcasting licenses.

He stated that most television stations complied as some of them even started digitalizing earlier than ZNBC, the national broadcaster.

The Minister also noted that the Access to Information Bill had reached an advanced stage as it was currently awaiting the Ministry of Justice to go through the document and approve it before it goes to parliament for enactment.

  1. Well come to the modern world of social media- the print and broadcast is slowly becoming irrelevant- Sata is slowly turning into a vegetable-

    • Zambian watchdog yena.Ala bafik ala balya with their tonga minority propaganda thinks they will manage to have their tribesman Hyena Hyena in power by reporting falsehoods.

    • hahahahazaha……….. katema looks like his boss sata. mulifye bwino batata? these are the people the country is spending over $1b US for medical fees abroad.

    • Kadobi, it is not every news item about Sata’s trip coming from Zambian Watchdog. The Jerusalem Post has also reported about him. Therefore, you should also discredit the reports by the Jerusalem Post. Are you saying the Jerusalem post is also backing HH by reporting falsehoods?

    • Hey you stupid malfunctioning character (Dr Katema) with a bony head which resembles a head of a traumatised shark in a cage, take a self-critical reflection for a change. There is no negative reporting anywhere about the incompetent corrupt PF regime. The PF rules Zambia along ethnic lines and it is marginalising Tongas and other ethnic groups except northerners. Additionally, a handful non-Bemba individuals who act as instruments of oppression for Sata in respective regions worship Sata and dance to his suppressive tactics. What makes you angry is the opposition’s reaction to your severe tactics and the media houses which transmit your devilish deeds in the PF failed project. Without the media’s attempts with regards to publishing your PF madness, your madness will not be known.

    • Dr Katema should ensure that his government tells the truth all the time.If this is done,no media will dish out falsehoods.I hope he has approved the lies being channed out by Mwansa Kapeya on President Sata’s working holiday in Islael.

    • Hey you, Katema character, you must wipe your dirty mouth with a tissue or a clean serviette because your white mucus is dripping from your tongue due to lying and a common cancerous disease in the PF hierarchical order. This is indicative of the dying Sata whose health is increasingly deteriorating faster than we originally thought. Oh dear, what a relief on our side and we wonder what sort of lies are in the pipe line for these Kaponyas. Negative reporting is a thorny issue to these Kaponyas, yet the PF selects specific words that fit its vocabulary at a particular occasion insofar as to play as a victim of its own circumstances and, simultaneously shift the blame to real victims (UPND & Tongas). There is no negative reporting which these Kaponyas are mumbling about.

    • Correction – Sata has always been a vegetable that is supported by his fellow tribalist vegetables.

    • Bakatema, it is because of too much lies from you at helm of the government PR machine. Learn to tell truth systematically to avoid speculation. We are in the internet age where government secrets are no secrets at all because any one affected by any decision within government has a way of letting off his/her anger through online media.

My advice to you is change the “Donchi Kubeba” ideology because it can not work in this era. Unless you block the internet in the country you will always be exposed when you lie. Blocking the internet on the other hand would be suicidal for it will work against you as most youth who rely on the internet will vent their anger on PF.

To solve the problem of negative reporting learn to tell the truth and shame the devil.

      You can’t hide Sata’s…

    • Its the technology age either adapt or you will extinct like old man and Fossil Chikwanda….last century’s bullying and hollow threats are obsolete!!

    • Its simple bwana Katema. In the same way you feel frustrated about what you term negative reporting, thats exactly how we feel with the lies you feed the country on. You be truthful to the Zambian people and the so called negative reporting will cease. Deal?

    • @1.4 Nubian Princes – The Post tells 1/4 truths on political news or news where Mmembe is on the receiving end.

    • Iwe Alf, if your father brings home five day old vitumbuwa and tells you its bread and cakes, are you going to tell your friends and neighbours that you eat bread and cakes at home? They’ll come and visit you one day and the truth will be revealed. In this case the person who saw the father pick those expired vitumbuwa (Israel) has reported to the children of the house exactly what their father is trying to feed them and where it came from. This is the dot com age where the world is a global village. Unfortunately you and your stone age PF bootlickers don’t seem to be able to grasp it and realise just how much shorter it makes the legs of your lies. Smh

    • @soulosi
my brother lets cut the crap and be serious here,,,,,,,,, your PF govt is giving sh!t smelling manure for rumour mongering to germinate and grow,,,,,,, people like you soulosi if you are as educated as you claim,,,, step up and save your PF,,,, I MEAN! whats wrong with flying the president to isreal in broad daylight,,, and your PF govt making an official sober statement to the effect that `the president is unwell but not ill,,, he is going to isreal for a routine medical treatment after which he might have high level meetings,,, we`ll inform the nation more in due course`,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that would make people back off!,,, now kapeya makes some crappy working holiday statement, then ZWD jumps on the story because of stup!d mishandling of the whole presidency

    • @soulosi
Contd! now because of the ZWD,,, you have BBC, CNN, VOA,,etc asking questions,, even after noticing mistakes were made in the beginning,,, your kapeya and scot make more mistakes,, edgar lungu is also exposing his team mates,,,,,what a govt! not even good old damage control,,,,, retire all those old lairs,,,, maybe this negative reporting will go away

    • You know what would make a good ad slogan right now? Like ‘MTN, everywhere you go?’ ‘Saulosi, growing stup!d!er and duller everyday!’ Catchy ain’t it?

  2. How you can expect “positive reporting” when current Ministers are constantly either laying or threatening?

  3. Yeah, we know you. You are always concerned and this can only be as a result of you lying consistently. You answer critics with action. Also, learn to tell between what is constructive criticism and attacks on the government. In fact, you should always expect such things in your leadership positions and in a democratic nation. Leadership is not so smooth sailing after all. You do not get paid for nothing!

  4. ‘OLA” Waba itoloshi someone is talking about negative reporting from some social media, you are bringing the name of the Presido in this story, waba ichatile.

    • @MIGHTY SHANSHA

I pity you! You still believe you have a president in the name of Sata. Sata is gone, the Kabimba cartel poisoned him to die slowly a long time ago. Now the K cartel are busy positioning themselves to completely remove Sata together with GBM and Mulenga Sata camps out of political power.

So from now on forget about Sata, he is not coming out the comma. He will come back as cargo from Israel.

The end of PF is fast approaching so make your mind up and get used to the idea.

  5. Mr Katema, let your government act professionally, with integrity and justice. Let them follow the tenets of democracy and speak to Zambians with respect and honour. THEN, only then, will have positive reportage. But for as long as you act like Kaponyas you will be treated like Kaponyas, you will be reported as Kaponyas.

  6. Mr katemo wants us to believe zed any be see news.-when sata is sick he wants us to believe that he is wooing investors,at k6200\$ to him means kwacha is appreciating, mealie meal at k80 means there is bumper harvest,60000 jobs created means 600000 etc. I can’t imagine how these PFs would have manipulated us if we didn’t have on-line news.infact it could have taken a journalist to fly to Isreal to find out whether sata was truely on holiday if there was no online.thanks to Isreal Post and zwd. You are just too old and ancient to govern in this dot com era.personally I don’t watch zed any be see news.

  7. You r right….But the People in Power r already used to lies and wht do u expect frm Them ?

Its only easy to say tht if u ve been OPEN THRU out your life. Being open doesnt mean u divulge information which is not for Public CONSUMPTION.

WE need ‘EXTREMLY INTELLIGENT and POLITICAL MINDS in Govt. NON matches tht of Dean Mung’omba and MazoKa.

Even HH safika po….!!! But is the ‘only’ Option.

  8. ‘PF Government concerned with negative reporting of online media’
No, stiupid, it’s the nation that’s concerned with PF lies about Sata’s health and whereabouts. Answer the question: Is Sata wooing investors or is he in a coma? Anyway we know the truth will shortly catch up with you id!ots. We know you know that the president is on a death bed right now, and he isn’t wooing no investors.

  9. When we say this government this filled with empty tins (and dead wood) we are peppered with unpalatables. Surely does this empty tin know what feeds these negative comments? Does he honestly think the investor they are “wooing” do not know what’s happening on the ground?

  10. We are very disappointed with negative conduct of government over national affairs. We are the bosses as the masses and we say that the media is doing a very good job of informing the public and even potential investers that government is corrupt. That is why we are a democracy and not a one party state. Nowonder PF wanted to get us back to one party state so that they can do things without acoountability.

  11. So the watchdog is really hitting these guys. How are they accessing it when it has been blocked in Zambia?

    • You can access the ZWD on face book…….Another site which is making shocking revelations is Zambia Reports. I really wonder who is revealing inside information to these online papers. It just shows you how many people are dissatisfied watching others dip their fingers in the honey pot.

  12. The best a resposible can do is to ignore onliine media. Its like graffitti. You dont take it seriously. PF IS WORKING HARD . IGNORE CRITICS.

  13. PF we know how HE MCS is changing the face of our beloved country and tring to clean all the mes left by mmd.may be thats causing fatc to u you.as for this minority tribal party from south ignore them they ar jst under 5 calculator boys yaping, they av failed to believed dat the man they made a pact with is in plote 1 sorting out things for the gud of our country.and their man is back ward as uso yaping in the wilderness with a fent voice.very soon they wil burst after lozing in 2016 let them insult oz they dont av anythn to offer to de pipo of zambia as avidenced by sinkng popularity.try NKOMBO not HH that man has failed even to become a councilor, watmo president he has litle or no knowdlg about governanbe isues

  14. We the citizenry are also concerned about the continued lies by the PF govt. The govt must expect more negativity from the both media and the citizens for as long as they continue peddling lies and not implementing what they promised prior to being voted into office. The PF govt is simply reaping what they sow and sowing period. It is good to hear they are feeling the heat of the media.

  15. I suppose channel 209 on sky also supports HH, because they also reported that the Zambian president is in hospital in Israel. Why are politicians so thick headed.

  16. What govtss must realise is that blog star are people who are just bored. I am in eastern province. Sataz adminstrattion is on the ground doing wonders. The monies beiing borrowed are put to good use.

  17. Pf and its supporters are feeling the heat!!!
if you embressed everyone regardless the tribe, and worked according to your promises, u would have been smiling everyday. but alas the reverse it is!!

  18. The best way to curb this is to have a government that tells the truth – in our case, a government that communicates with its citizens.
If the GRZ is free and open ZWD and LT will not have any fuel.
But PF makes it too easy.
