Open Society Foundation (OSF) says there is need for a clear succession plan in the ruling Patriotic Front.
OSF Executive Director Sunday Chanda has told QFM News that the PF’s succession plan must also signal a generational change that can inspire citizens once again.

Mr. Chanda says President Michael Sata pioneered the PF but that there is need for party to present another transformational leader to steer the party into the future.

Mr Chanda adds that there is need for the ruling party to also deal with opportunists within its ranks.

But Patriotic Front PF National Chairperson Inonge Wina says it is premature for anyone to talk about succession in the ruling party.

Ms Wina has told QFM News in a separate interview that the question of who succeeds President Michael Sata in 2016 is irrelevant at the moment.

She states that there is no reason why people should push the PF to look for alternative Leadership when the party has a Leader who continues to oversee the affairs of the state.

  1. Mr. Chanda, you have a spot on. But remember though that it is not only the PF to have a new scoope of leaders but the entire political parties in Zambia. Zambia needs change. We are sick and tired of these same old finnished guys in the likes of William Banda, Guy Scott, Daniel Mukombwe, Alex Chikwanda, Chifumu Banda, Nevers Mumba, MCS, VJ to mentioned but a few. It’s time a new crop of leaders was ushered in and not in the likes of HH, Chipimo nor Cozmo but just some guy with a calling. Some guy who’s going to give us a sense of believing in ourselves again. Some guy who’s going to lift our souls by his/her charisma and hope again. We need that guy and I don’t see it in HH neither in Chipimo even though they call them selves young..

    China Obeserves…

  2. “the party has a Leader who continues to oversee the affairs of the state” ?????

    Which one is that?

The vegetable in Israel???? Or the fake one in Lusaka with his FORGED HANDOVER?

  3. What succession plan? Which Chiefdom does PF rule over? UNIP and MMD did not have such a plan, nor do opposition political parties in Zambia.

Tell me who is going to succeed who in which opposition political party, and I will accept this as a well meant advice.

  4. P F should not even be voted in again period; during it s short rule so far, the country has been run on terrosist action; intimidation; lies cheating; the works; I have seen this country come from federation; independence , rule of one party, democracy and the selling off our country assests then the shoppers I mean the Bandas and now; reign of terror by the PF who are desperate to stay in power for their own benefit; the only president we had here that had a heart for the country and the people was Mwanawasa; under PF we are sliding back to a one party state; Yes I totally agree that we should choose an intelligent young person, who is proud to be zambian and respects traditions and culture; after all; a country or a people without culture is not a nation at all: I have no confidence in

  5. We need young leaders to blend with the old. Does anyone know the whereabout of Mayor Mike Mposha. During his time he showed me and many others in Munali what good leadership means, missing his leadership big time. Looking for him

  6. They may deny it in their words but their actions reveal that the king is almost dead and is most likely never coming back. See them cow down in fear
