The Electoral Commission of Zambia has disclosed that it will next week announce the dates for five constituencies following the landmark Supreme Court judgment delivered on Friday.

ECZ Chairperson Justice Ireen Mambilima announced that by elections will be held in Kasenengwa, Mkushi South, Vubwi, Solwezi Central and Zambezi West constituencies.

She has however clarified that the Commission will not hold by-elections in Malambo, Mulobezi and Petauke Central constituencies until determination of the matter in the Supreme Court.

“We will be announcing the dates for the by elections next week, we shall meet to determine those dates and we shall be announcing the dates next week now that these issues have been resolved by the courts but I need to emphasize that it is for the five constituencies that were subject of the rulings for yesterday. The by elections for… I think for Malambo, Petauke Central and Mulobezi, that matter is still pending in the Supreme Court and there is a stay which was granted in the Supreme Court for the judgement of the High Court not to be implemented,” Justice Mambilima said.

“So that one we shall wait for the Supreme Court again to make their rulings, so for those others, by early next week, we shall be announcing the dates for those by elections and off course we have the Mangango which is…we shall have the nominations I think its Thursday next week so Mangango is on course,” she said.

She was speaking in Lusaka during a media luncheon held for the ECZ Media Corps at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

Meanwhile, Justice Mambilima has challenged Acting President Wynter Kabimba to explain to the nation about the Kenyans he smuggled into Zambia to conduct the Parallel Voter Tabulation during the 2011 general polls.

She has stressed that Mr. Kabimba is better placed to avail more details on the matter.

“We cannot say more about that issue, as a Commission we believe Mr Kabimba is in a better position to clarify that matter,” she said.

Justice Mambilima maintained that elections conducted the ECZ are done in a transparent manner and the Commission has no control over electoral malpractices some candidates are engaged in.
She has since called on the media to play their active role in sensitizing people on the delimitation exercise.

Justice Mambilima said the delimitation sittings which will begin soon shall be publicized in the local papers in order to encourage local participation.

  1. Why and how come this lady (Ireen mambilima) still in her position?

    She should be replaced

Saying that, I think PF should sweep to victory unanimously in these bye elections

    Thanks

    • Justice Mambilima should be the next Chief justice. she is very strong and can not be intimidated by any one.

    • @Wanzelu
Mambilima is okay but I like Fulgency Chisanga. I think she has her head wired correctly. Judge Evans Hamaundu disapointed me when he coward and failed to register the London Judgement against Kafupi.

    • Zambian watchdog Vs Proud Aushi Musamba Mumba

….. Never thought Zambian watchdog can be fingered by a Lady. What an intelligent woman. She has exposed those malicious and biased traba-lists.

    • Wanzelu aka LIoyd Himmambo

How do you manage to sleep at night knowing you gossip for a living? It is Sata this Sata that, how can a person in a coma wake up suddenly and go home.

You really work hard for that money.Ever since the Dog house was torched by Musamba ,you are on all online media trying to repair damage.

    • Lloyd Himaambo/Wanzelu i`m selling some law books my friend.Maybe your Germany partner can buy for you. What do you think about that ?

    • @Robin

Don’t bring such garbage to this website. ….its no wonder you people never develop. ..small minds discussing silly issues.

    • @Bricklayer

Exactly my thoughts . Zambia needs Strong willed Judges who play it strictly by law of the land not basebana wikute judges.

    • @Jay Jay
Why are you taking it personal ? We know you chaps are part of of Himaambo group.Time will catch up with you bafana.

    • @Jay Jay, thank you for chasing that Jamal piece of thing from here.
@Jamal, this site is not for prostitution or your silly discussions, you be deleted out of this earth for ever, don’t play with us.

    • The Zambian watchdog chaps are scared that we are exposing them even here.We are doing so because Lusaka times is a decent blog.We don’t want you chaps like Nostradamus,Jay Jay and Wanzelu bringing ubufunfutungu from your ka ZWD to our decent LT.

    • Why ain’t you proactive when it comes to tackling bread and butter issues….this is why our West African brothers prosper in diaspora unlike us Zambians who are quick to expose each other for cheap gossip. All those people you keep mentioning are being used by politicians like pawns on a chess board.
Grow up and exercise your brain with the right knowledge! !

Go to LT archives we have been contributing here way before ZWD or your college boy George Chellah knew what Facebook was…for all we know it was probaby a book with a mirror to them.
      Wake up!!

  2. Ba mambilima,,,, please just anounce those date,,,,people want to vote with force!!! by the way,,,, ba mambilima,, just for your own information,,,, you cant challenge sitting president Kabimba because he is using his new constitution,,,,,,,,, since ba Sata went with his constitution on holday to israel on holiday and he is not picking up calls!

    • I suspect Ba Mambilima is waiting to see f she can combine with presidential by-elections. I am sure someone is resigning on medical grounds, Pope Benedict did a honorable thing, I wonder why NOT Sata. Is it “till death do us apart”?

  3. Please just announce the dates before the old man comes back on either an ambulance plane or DHL cargo plane …Ladies and gentlemen, welcome onboard Flight ZMK this aircraft has no captain, ignore the empty tin called Winter Kabimba and auto pilot has been engaged. Should the cabin experience sudden pressure loss, stay calm and listen for instructions from the online media. Oxygen masks will drop down from above your seat. Place the mask over your mouth and nose, like this. Pull the strap to tighten it and WAKE UP!!

  4. Development under the PF, bye-elections, swearing-in ceremonies, creation of new districts and appointment of female police commissioners at all provinces.

  5. I FEEL SORRY FOR DORA. SHE SHOULD DO SOME SOUL-SEARCHING WHY THESE THINGS ARE HAPPENING TO HER.

SHE TOUCHED AND INSULTED GOD’S ANNOINTED.

SHE SHOULD HUMBLE HERSELF AND COOPERATE WITH NEVERS.
