State House will issue a statement on President Sata only when it’s absolutely necessary-Katema

Government has accused some sections of the media of having pre-conceived and predetermined ideas in pursuing its stories on the whereabouts of President Michael Sata and his health status.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Joseph Katema has maintained that State House would issue a statement on the matter but only as and when it will be absolutely necessary.

He said it was not immediately necessary for State House to issue a statement on the whereabouts of President Sata and his health status because the Head of State had already made himself available to the nation by chairing a cabinet meeting on Monday this week.

On Monday, State House released still pictures of a cabinet meeting allegedly chaired by President Sata.

The minister who could not state when State House would be able to issue a comprehensive statement on the speculations and innuendoes currently chocking the nation about the whereabouts of President Sata and his health status said it was annoying that reporters doubted government’s position.

Dr Katema who is Chief Government spokesperson told the reporter to get in touch with State House over President Sata’s absence from public appearances charging that it was not necessary to inform Zambians about the whereabouts of President Sata and why he was avoiding to address the nation.

He said Zambians should believe and accept that President Sata chaired a cabinet meeting on Monday this week and that pictures of the Head of State entering the auditorium where the meeting took place were circulated to all media houses.

When asked why State House had decided to circulate the pictures of President Sata chairing the Monday cabinet meeting when he had always been chairing the meeting as the Head of State, Dr Katema accused the reporter of having a preconceived mind in his line of asking questions.

“The Vice-President has said State House would as and when it is absolutely necessary issue a statement on the whereabouts of President Sata and his health status. The President chaired a cabinet meeting and I attended the meeting myself. Things did move well and we shall inform the nation as and when necessary. Do not quarrel with your sources. Why do you call me with your pre-conceived mind. I have given you the answer, put away your pen and I am cutting the line…finish,” Dr Katema said before terminating the line.

    • No , I am not sure the Minister means that when he dies

State House have said he is fine, who on earth are we to try and demean and undermine their statement and judgement

This Idea of people wanting to see someone die is uncalled for

The palaver surrounding the whole crowd of suspicion is unfounded
People prejudicing about the president are desperate, need to be censored and know that not sensible human being perniciously try to live in hope that someone be unwell dies, or want condition over someone who is enjoying a large amount of healthiness

Unless we are told otherwise from the Horse’ mouth we need to believe that he is fine

      Could someone please say Amen?

    • Do these so called PF ministers think through what to say and how exactly to say it? Or is it because they are called useless by MCS himself? The way they respond to public demands leaves much to be desired. If there is nothing sinister about the TOP man, let him appear before his own people. Yes he is Chumbu mushololwa or chimbwi no plan but let him appear why hiding; bunkum.

    • Minister of Mis-Information and Bullsh!t Services Joseph Katema said it was annoying that reporters doubted government’s position!!!

What do you expect from the party of L!ES! You L!ED with fake 90 day promises to get elected, you L!ED about everything else to stay in power, you L!ED about the Constitution, you lied about Satas ‘working holiday’, and now suddenly you want us to believe your BUFI!!!!

Wake up you ID!OT, we don’t believe and of your bullsh!t anymore. Show us the President otherwise we know he is DEAD!

    • Fair enough. He can take all the time he wants since there is no law that compels him to make an early public appearance. That cameo role during that cabinet meeting was good enough. We will patiently wait….Patience is a virtue.

    • I still find it hard to believe that intelligent Zambians voted these clowns into power.Well enjoy the circus! Voters only have power the day of elections ,during the 5 years the party they voted for reigns, they are insulted, belittled, and ridiculed by those in power.I look forward to the time we shall have laws that ensure that the Zambian People have power. For now this is the government the simple majority voted for- enjoy the theatrical performances.

    • PF,you lied your way into office through false pretence, lies on the constitution, lies on the public order act, lies on the freedom of information bill, lies lies lies , now lies into the grave!!! KICK OUT THESE PF CRIMINALS!!

      Truth is SATA IS DEAD,
That’s why he can’t swear-in newly ratified Attorney General Musa Mwenya, Solicitor General Abraham Mwansa and Supreme Court Judge Mumba Malila. I dare PF to bring Sata to swear in these constitutional officers IN CAMERA NOT BEHIND DOORS within this week, a duty Sata was duly employed for by the Zambia people. No more statements needed , failure to bring him confirms what we in the system already know- SATA IS DEAD!!

    • At what point is the necessity decided bwana minister, give has the defining moment so we can know if your are being realistic. Otherwise, you seem to be saying nothing.

    • WHY ARE THEY EVEN ASKING PF WHERE IS SATA- IT IS TRYING TO GET MILK FROM THE STONE. It is very clear that the way PF cheated the people on its way to the presidency, that is the way they are positioned to cheat and blind the citizens. No wonder why many governments are overthrown in many parts of Africa.

    • Dead or alive the old man is already exposed. ..he is better off retired indefinitely. Even retiring back to his village is a problem with enemies he has created there.

    • @Saulosi Kasolo
It is beginning to dawn on you that your uncle could be as ill as speculated. What do you expect when he is surrounded by people with viruses like yourself? Instead of worrying over his poor health, you truly believe in your thick head that he is fine. If he was, he would have appeared in public by now. Katema has just confirmed it. Viruses could be your specialty, but definitely not English, read the headline of this article–this time slowly or ask someone in your lab to read it for you, you nut-head.

    • @Sick Saulosi aka Zagaze
I don`t need English. In the country where i live it is not the official language ,so polishing it is the least on my list of priorities. I just find out weird how my academic background has made you insecure. I suggest that you channel your energy toward more positive things because cyber bullying or stalking me won`t take you anywhere. You always fail to stick to topics preferring attack me instead. Only people with limited rational, analytical and debate abilities resorts to personal attacks and insults like you do when they don`t agree with someone.Get a life.

    • Ba Zagaze just debate wisely.Changing your blog name just to insult Saulosi tekusova.Real men debate issues and not insele.Maturity and respect are important things in life. These are just politics don’t take it too personal.Respect people with divergent views like the rest of us normal people do.

    • This is how shallow Saulosi is: posts a completely id!iotic comment knowing full well that someone will attack him and when he is attacked, retaliates with the tuma bombastic expressions that he has learnt when doing the same academic stuff he is doing so that his tuma shallow-minded PF disciples will cheer and make merry and hail his name to be the supreme brain in an otherwise dry oasis of intelligence in the PF circles. Nobody that matters gives a sh!t about your academic excellence Saulosi my boy. Intelligent people give a sh!t about the nonsense your government is feeding us about where that dunderhead excuse of a president is. Thats my opinion.

    • @Saulosi Kasolo
It is not Zagaze, it’s me. Leave him out of this. He is a man of principles and can clearly see where this country is heading. He is not a virus like you who contaminates the air and do not care how many people you infect and kill. Your kinship with Sata has made you to lose your mind. Bloggers are begining to see how shallow you are. Their concerned is you are embarassing the intellectual fraternity with your myopic and *****ic one-sided comments. No one can engage you in a debate with your mindless stance. Stop sniffing ebola, you virus!

    • We don’t need statements, let him address the nation since PF still claims he fit and working! Or is that your way of telling us he is sick?

    • @saulosi and straight talk – mwambala. i am not sick saulosi. ba mdala ba saulosi teti mwanjipushafye bwino than accusing me and pegging names that arent mine on me. its just illogical for any normal thinking person to be changing his blog names just to get at other bloggers. what is there to be afraid of? its not like ba LT give us ama commission for getting the most likes that i would strive to create a persona with whom everyone would associate with just for the likes. Next time gentlemen mwanjipusha. I would have asked for an apology from you both, but i find my vicarious accusation unnecessary to warrant any apology from timorous simpletons as yourselves.

    • And a word of advice ba mdala ba saulosi, what you have achieved, being a virologist is great and i as a pan africanist feel happy that you represent our continent well if at all you dont shy away from associating yourself with being african, later on a zambian. Being in your profession is as great as the physicists, engineers, educationists etc we have on this forum. There are people on this blog doing equally well if not better and some worse. so dont be narcissistic!!! we are not jealous of you, we are proud of you as long as you represent our continent first. You may not know what i do, what sick saulosi does, what nostradamus does, what ndobo does, dudelove, the entity mushota and yet you judge others as being jealous? it doesnt make any sense baba!!!

  1. I concur that

It is absolutely not necessary now, people should move on

I am sick and tired of seeing that certain people here are using this as a campaigning tool

I don’t think there is a necessity to pass any statement at all.

WHo cares about still pictures or a video of him?

    WHat difference will it make?

I don’t understand at all, and most intelligent and the people who are a cut above the rest will agree with me

May the witch hunt end please
    Thanks

    • @Musota

Do u know that you can give yourself a vote? I usually feel sorry for you that all your comments have negative votes.

    • HH

The bible reminds us that Noah was laughed at , alone when he built the boat but proved that minority doesn’t mean you are wrong, majority equally doesn’t mean you are right

So It doesn’t matter, I talk sense and I am a cut above the rest

      Thanks

    • @Mushota- I like your argument- Just like the way the majority of Zambians voted for Sata does not mean that they were right. Just like those who didnt vote for Sata does not mean that they were wrong. You are correct- majority does not mean that they are right and minority does not mean that they are wrong. As to whether you are a cut above the rest is debatable –

    • Ola
Thank you for seeing where I am coming from. I respect your rebuttal to admit about me being a cut above the rest, I don’t intend to be the epicentre of any major discussion. I however know, I see things that the majority don’t see, saying that I hope I am not breaking the proscenium.
      Thanks

    • me i get disgusted with this mushota, you will soon be disappointed because your pathetic fulls will soon be out of power. You only support even things are not OK, just because you are pf. Be realistic when things are not OK just give in.

  2. Rubbish of ths Govt.

I personally need Guy Scott to Act as a NEUTRAL PRESIDENT to take us to the Land of Honey !!!!

God deliver us from this DILEMA AND CONFUSION PF has us put into.

    God Deliver Zambia.

    • anderson chilala walitemwa abasungu iwe, mamamama. even if they went to the moon, you would follow them. Ati milk and honey. Whatever makes you happy my brother ayi? this is the second time i have caught you with white preference thought inclinations. I dont blame you though, its the programming.

  3. “A president will be put out of circulation due to sickness” this was a profess from a renown Tele Evangelist. wondering whether this was about our own. Buying time is the trick here, we know that power is very sweet. 27 days is surely big period to remain silent. This man was only good as an opposition leader. Sometimes i agree that there is no opposition now in Zed. PF must start grooming, because 2016 the founder shall have no muscles. Zambia Zambia Zambia shall we ever shine?

  4. What Dr Katema is telling us Zambians is that he does not have answers as to why Sata can not address Zambians to clear his perceived demise or sickness. Its clear that their is a big problem? Can so one tell me what happened on 29th June ,2014 at around 02:00hrs?

  5. the truth is…the president is ill that is a fact. but government is covering no wonder they could not show a video footage like it has been in the past. it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out. like the bibles quotes the truth shall set you free i would advise the government to come out in the open and state the fact and know how we can move forward as a nation because no matter how long they hide sooner or later the truth shall be known so whats the point?

    • The point is to place themselves at good vantage points politically and economically (stealing), before the average Joe even realizes it.

  6. Pure senselessness and short sightedness.

There is absolutely no need to show arrogance in face of such crisis, neither is there anything to hide everyone knows that MCS has been unwell. It will be more of a crisis if all the cover-ups get exposed which of course will happen soon.

People have ever right to correct information on the well being of their President, after all he is holding Public Office. The outside world is also watching as well and how this is dealt with has an impact on how the perceive us as a Nation. Freedom of Information Bwana Katema!

  7. The arrogance of some politicians makes my blood boil. Don’t treat us like Imbeciles, issuing condescending statements like that Katema. Your time would be better spent investigating face-filling procedures ( such as implants, Botox and the like…..)

  8. Kwena, only in Zed! A plane can’t be in auto pilot for this long. These *****ic ministers can’t just ask him to call in on a live radio program and have him just say his name. Something is so fishy now

  9. Show a little more, show a little less, add a little smoke, welcome to burlesque. everything you dream of, I have already plundered. Everyone is donating and put your money in my pants. I am not guilty of hammering money during my term as high-comm issioner but I am ready to confess it felt soo good stealing the money. my Dominican lady assistant can always give you a great personal service. Free ladies for everyone when I am president.

  10. The problem is that as Zambians we are so docile. As if we don’t have learned lawyers in the nation to advise what the way forward should be legally if Changala’s efforts are blocked. There must be a legal recourse to address such situations. The question is after all this, who is going to be charged with a serious case of treason for covering up the condition of the president during which time affairs in the nation are very unpredictable and then corruption and plunder of national resources is inevitable? Someone should pay for this mess at some point.

  11. …I had voluntarily boycotted to comment on any subject to do with the status quo of our president…..but somehow I’m compelled to because of the annoying and frustrating responses from the govt…
…is there no provision for an opposition member of parliament to raise a private motion or private member’s bill whatever they call it….to compel the govt or simply invite the president thru the VP to address the parliament (ofcourse at parliament building)…??? …specific time frame must be given….a week

    • I think you are right. They must be some sort of mechanism in Parliament that would put this situation to bed. Like you have become hesitant when it comes to making comments about this drama. Its just frustrating that Zambians can be taken for granted like this. Its all lies lies and more lies from these incompetent people. Someone inside state house should go rouqe and leak something so we know whats going on.

    • @LusakaBoy…
…II’m glad you have appreciated my line of thot….if he can chair the cabinet, then he is fit enough to go to parliament and address the house

  12. I am glad that Dr Katema is now serving his last and final term as MP for Chingola central. At least the town will breathe some clean and fresh air as his performance has been below average for the last 10 years PF has been controling the town. Lets hope the people of chingola have leanrnt a lesson

  13. Surely this is the worst government we have ever had come on guys why do we need to wait for state house to issue a statement, why can’t the cobra himself come out and tell us he is fine Mr Ketema sir don’t make yourself a fool just because you want to keep your job you told us he is fine and working now we must wait for a statement for what, Ketema as much as they are using you please spare us your dullness don’t behave like Mushota sometimes it is nice to keep quiet if you have got nothing to say

  14. Mangooo! Tailapya! Mangoo! Tailapya! Mangooooo! Yapyaaa! That is kabishe bishe. PF stop this game. It is for children who have not yet attained puberty.

  15. The Zambian government are feeding speculation.

How can we have an absentee President, who is fighting fit?

We deserve to know the truth.

The government are simply mismanaging our President and they are abusing their offices.

If we hear the President has died at any time soon, be ready to give account to the Zambian people for depriving Zambians access to their President.

  16. Lets not blame but the opposition where is it? Imagine if data was still in opposition and this was going on.this shows how weak it is so of you who think pf will loose 2016 you are wasting your time.

  17. Why are the id1ots in the opposition so uncomfortable about Sata’s whereabouts and health status? We, the ardent supporters of Sata and PF are at peace, relaxed and not agitated, neither are we anxious. The fact that the president chaired a cabinet meeting this week is proof enough to assure the nation. In any case, fools are being given long ropes to hang themselves with their unfounded anxiety.

    • If all Zambians were as retarded as you are then the country would be in reverse gear like it is the case now.You are such a f00l who doesnt deserve to be a Zambian

  18. Don’t mind this thin man he was obviously high on I don’t know whether it is kachasu he takes. if I say he was not drunk I would be lying! he is always high!

  19. Dr stupid Katema.why should we wait for an appropriate time when you sure presidado is fine and kicking?who is to announce, himself or yourself?

  20. Zambians enjoy rumour mongering. So Mr Minister don’t even respond to questions based on rumours. Let them choke with their on little stories.

  21. Sata already said he has a bunch of U.S.E.L.E.S.S. Ministers. Is there any wonder when you see how this bunch has handled the illness of their boss? Do you know what happens in families when a wife keeps the illness of her husband from family members? She would be bullocked and given all sorts of names, one of which is that she is a Fwiti. Sata’s predecessors were very free to announce they were going to South Africa or India for medical treatment. We knew when Chiluba, Mwanawasa, RB were sick. The nation prayed for them but this lot in PF are hiding matenda. What’s wrong with this government, kansi? And Katema does not see the need to clarify the rumors? I support the petition “We want to see President Sata” Zambians stand for your rights!

  22. I wonder what the prophets of doom will do when they see the Real Master Chumbu Munsholowa in public doing his usual kubwata bwata. I wonder what the prophets of doom will do when the Real Master Chumbu Munsholowa wins 2016 elections!

    • Both are correct: munshololwa and mushololwa all depends on where the stress is.
      e.g (1) Ulya ni munshololwa!
      e.g (2) Ba mushololwa baisa.

  23. I have a feeling that Katema himself has not seen Sata since his disappearance more than 3 weeks ago and therefore he does not even know where he is holed up. His waffle simply betrays him.
It makes sense to believe that the president is in very poor condition and those hiding him are trying to buy time for him to sort of recover and then they will parade him at a 10-minute swearing-in comedy show.

  24. A perfectly stup!d statement from the not so honorable minister. But then we have been told by none other than their boss himself who is currently AWOL, that his minions are USELESS. So we shouldn’t be surprised at the filth they spew at each and every turn. I now understand why he carefully picked the fantastically id!otic to help him misgovern the nation, he knew they are so yellow they would still be terrified of him even in his vegetative state or death. I confirmed this truth when one of them was called an iD1ot in front of his countrymen, wife and children and did nothing, not even resigning! Yellow through and through, to borrow KK’s phrase.

  25. Only in the communist countries of the yester-years could a country go for weeks without the leader being seen in public, let alone an explanation. In a country like Zambia, that professes to have embraced democracy and moved with civilisation into the 21st century, the reactions of govt. and the inertia of the people’s representatives is astounding. In normal countries, government would by now have been given a right good kick up the backside – if not done away with altogether by a show of ‘no confidence’ of some sort. Right now, MP’s, who are composed of mainly PF members, are impotent, cabinet is terrified to the bone and civil society is clueless as to how to force matters. You cannot simply tell the electorate that you can do what you want as govt. Treated as *****s, we are.

  26. “If it looks like a duck & quacks like a duck, it’s a duck”; the only way to shame skeptics is for the President to make a public appearance, preferably a press conference. Otherwise, this story will continue to be a distraction. Meanwhile the debt keeps piling up. How easy it is for Zambians to be distracted.

  27. The GRZ is becoming very arrogant. No accountability; high levels of irritability and too many irrational behaviors/decisions. They need help, like right now.

  28. Dr. Katema, one day you will answer charges for all the misimformation you are giving us, those lollipop ears of yours will droop when you are in and out of court; you guys think that we Zambians are fools;

  29. Useless president,a burden to zambian taxpayers and a very uninspiring performance on his 1st term.

  30. Non responsive president and government does not make for good reelection candidates. PF would do well to listen to the people.

2016 is just around the corner.
