Uganda international striker Tony Odur on Monday arrived in the country to officially join FAZ Super League champions Nkana from Kampala City Council Authority.
Odur has signed a one-year deal with the Wusakile side.
The 29-year-old player landed at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola around 10h00 and was received by Nkana secretary Ken Mwansa.
Odur was later taken to Nkana Stadium.
Mwansa said:”He arrived this morning at 10h45 and signed a one year contract.”
Odur scored 15 league goals for Kampala last season.
“We expect him to fill the vacuum left by Evans Kangwa and help us to retain the league,” he added.
Odur is expected to join Nkana in training on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the striker is ineligible to play for Nkana in the CAF Confederation Cup as he has already featured for KCCA in the CAF Champions League.
Zambians mwacha now getting pros from other countries
Zambian league is getting better and better.. with that hardworking Togolease defender at Zesco, and the 2 Congolese at Indeni, especially that striker Kanda.
Import more, from Mozambique, Rwanda
What’s the point of getting pros from abroad?? We are supposed to be developing talent!! These Pros WILL NEVER TAKE Zed to CAF or the World Cup!!
Well said Nostradamus.
Lyonse mu Zambia vibwela mochedwa, but this is good beginnings, tefyo?
The young man is welcome to Zambia. we hope other teams will follow suit to make Zambian football competitive and attractive for the region to WATCH. I ve been following Zambian games on DSTV. The league looks promising.
Zambian players should also be exported to clubs in Nigeria and Ghana, to tap talent there, even when we at par. It will help as a lot when we playing Nigeria or Ghana in WC or africa qualifying with 5 or 6 zambians playing already in their local clubs. Its a question of confidence and exposure.
