Kaunda: Botswana are beatable at home

Zambia Under-17 coach Chris Kaunda has demanded improvement from his team ahead of the away 2015 CAF Youth Championship qualifiers second round return leg against Botswana to be played in Gaborone on August 2.

Zambia on Sunday edged Botwana 1-0 in the first leg match of the second round played at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

Midfielder Enock Mwepu scored a solitary goal to give the Junior Chipolopolo a slight advantage going into the return.

“I am not dissappointed with the result. The game is still on but they are beatable even at their home,” Kaunda said.

He defended the performance of his team at home.

“Some of them are playinng at that stage for the first time.”

Kaunda believes Zambia have the potential to score away in Botswana.

“They (Botswana) will open up in the return match and goals will come,” he said.

The overall winners between Zambia and Botswana will face either Uganda or Rwanda in the final round of the CAF Under-17 Cup to be hosted by Niger.

  1. Kaunda, just say the qualification has become tricky. The Young Zebras have an edge over your team. A one zero was not enough since beating them at home will be a crucial task for your lads.
Already your plan in mind is to play defensive football and only attack if you are scored.

    • Tricky Yes. but the Away team didn’t score, Kaunda has to find an away goal or two then wont be as tricky.!

  2. THAT’S THE TROUBLE WITH AFRICA IN GENERAL. THEY SETTLE AND REMAIN IN ONE PLACE. TAKE FOR INSTANCE ZAMBIA- AFTER WINNING THE AFRICA CUP THEY SETTLED DOWN VERY COMFORTABLY ON THAT POSITION. WHITE PEOPLE FIGHT MORE FOR THE NEXT LEVEL. GHANA DID THE SAME. THIS IS MASSIVELY REFLECTED IN OUR ECONOMIES. FOR INSTANCE, COMMUTER TRANSPORT IN CITIES. SINCE WHEN HAVE WE BEEN USING IMBABULA (OR THOSE SMALL MINI BUSES) FOR COMMUTING? IS IT NOT HIGH TIME WE INTRODUCED PROPER BIG COMMUTER BUSES IN AT LEAST BIG CITIES WITH THE RIGHT INSIDE CONFIGURATION- MEANING WITH WHERE TO PUT SHOPPING, PARK WHEELCHAIRS AND PRAMS. IS IT NOT HIGH TIME WE HAD PROPER BUS STOPS WITH BUSES GOING FORWARDS IN ONE DIRECTIONS AND NOT BACK AND FORTH TO PICK UP EVEN THE PASSENGERS BEHIND THE BUS? WE CAN’T MOVE AS A COUNTRY.
