Zambia has requested the government of Scotland to help her to further develop the health sector in order to improve the wellbeing of Zambians.

Vice President Guy Scott asked the Scottish government to render assistance to Zambia during a closed door meeting which he held with Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Alex Neil in Glasgow yesterday.

Dr Scott told ZANIS through First Secretary for Press at the Zambian mission in the United Kingdom, Amos Chanda, that the two countries resolved to work together in the area of health.

He said all the three ministries that deal with issues of health would be looked at by the Scottish government.

The three ministries are Health, Community Development, Mother and Child Health and the ministry of Local Government and Housing.

And Mr Neil said in an interview that his government would send a team of experts to Zambia before the end of this year to assess which areas it can attend to.

“We have agreed to send health officials from the Scottish government to Zambia before the end of this year to look at areas in which the Scottish government and the health service can be of assistance to the people of Zambia,” he said.

He noted that Zambia, like many other developing countries, is facing a number of health challenges hence the decision by his government to consider assisting in the areas of technology and knowledge transfer in the health sector.

“We had a very productive outcome from the conversation that we had with Dr. Scott,”Mr Neil disclosed after the closed door meeting.

Mr Neil added that his meeting with Dr Scott was very important especially that Zambia was a developing country and that the two countries shared a long history dating back to the 19th century when the Scottish missionary, David Livingstone explored and died in Zambia.
He further noted that yesterday’s meeting and other recent interactions between Zambia and Scotland will enhance the two countries’ future development relations.

Dr Scott was accompanied to the meeting by his Senior Private Secretary, Robert Kamalata, Zambia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Paul Lumbi and First Secretary for Press at the Zambia Mission in UK, Amos Chanda.

Last night, Dr Scott witnessed the official opening of the 20th Commonwealth games at the Celtic park in Glasgow.

A total of 43 Zambian athletes are participating in various sports disciplines at the 2014 Commonwealth games in Scotland.

    • They must first state by checking the health status of the president and the vice president. Especially their mental status

    • How come there are pictures of Scott woo-ing investors whilst there were no pictures of Sata woo-ing Israeli investors????

    • This is why is Important to have leaders who are well connected and have
Blood anywhere but in Zambia, Scotland etc.

The truth is, because of being a nonentity HH would struggle to attract such dignitaries
And bring investment if at all, because he not well rounded and just vexed and bloodied in
      Southern province regrettably.

Great presidents have experience, finesse, well spoken, liked, and shows leadership qualities
All which Mr Sata has shown abundantly and is why you chose him to lead the masses.

I urge you all to think of that when you cast your Vote in 2016

      Thanks

    • when is this begging disease going to end`????,,,,, now stup!d white man scot is begging for poor black Zambians… whose black president is dead or dying,,,,, yaba! being black and stup!d is a big sin,,,,, thats why mushota wants to buy a white skin at all cost

    • @Mushota; I see that nepotism really runs down your veins. Why should it be that you think things can only be progressed if only one is connected to another person. Connections shouldn’t matter as long as the premise is sound. Mind you, where Scotland to assist it wouldnt be for free. The assistance will cost money and as such they wouldn’t be doing you a favour as they will at the end of it all want to make a profit. Wouldn’t you think that having a viable business plan is more important that have no business plan and relying on connections? You exposing what we all know that those qualifcations you quote are non existant. HH would give you a credible business plan than your Sata and Scott put together.

    • The Scottish are not stupid to bring money in country ruled by a dead president.

The Scottish know Sata is dead but just playing along. It is utter stupidity for Guy Scott to even pretend that Sata is alive, when CIA and GCHQ have access to information being exchanged by PF minions.

In Ethiopia it took the French to let the Ethiopian know that their president was long dead because every thing in Ethiopia was on hold due to a power vacuum. With us in Zambia it will take either Israel, Britain and America to let us know that the president died a long time ago (in June).

TOO BAD SATA DIED IN JUNE AND PF HAVE DONE THE WORST FORM OF DONCHI KUBEBA.

The Chinese already know that SATA is DEAD. Thats why the former Chinese ambassador, said he was ready to work with any new…

    • Mushota’s English is getting worse I must say. It all sounds gobbledygook to me. Anyone else noticed? Maybe she is ‘bloodied’ from Scotland or the minge.

  1. Last night, Dr Scott witnessed the official opening of the 20th Commonwealth games at the Celtic park in Glasgow.

Yes the scottish men were wearing skirts at that occasion. is it skirtland?. Tell us more iwe ka Mushota you always brag about being in Glasgow.

    • Way to go where? In admitting that after 1.75 billion dollars in less than three years babies die during delivery on the floor in the main country hospital and “powerful” and theirs siblings and associates are treated outside the country?
      Really, “way to go”!!!

  2. Sounds like one going to Barotseland and asking the ‘government’ there to render help. Blood out of stone? Scott seems at ease with a candidate for a breakaway state while at home denying his Western Province brothers and sisters the same. Is Scott anticipating that Scotland will be independent in September?

    • Guy Scott has no problems with Barotseland as an individual. Barotseland shall be like Scotland. Men’s skirts etc

  3. LT what is this government of Scotland? These empty tins don’t have a plan they start planning when they reach their destination in the hotel.

  4. Scott is better than Sata. We are being updated on his trip with discussions he’s having with potential investors and nearly up-to-date photos, unlike His Excellency our beloved leader when he went to Israel. To-date i have not herd word about that trip, 30 days down the line!

  5. @Mushota,why hate people from musanza like that? HH is your own brother he has a right to aspire for any office in the land without steriotyping him as if being tonga is a sin.#getlost.

  6. The only thing I did not agree with on this particular tour of duty is the one where Dr. Scott was asking that Scots investors to come and set up a Scotch Whisky plant in Zambia. There are sirely other avenues. What do others say?

  7. Nsimbi you are too backward to know that Scotland has power to do things that may benefit her. Devolution has paved way for Scotland. Wales and Northern Ireland to have their parliaments. The only thing that three has got no control is monetary control, military and foreign policies . Just like in USA each state has its policies for health, education. Health, policing and so forth the same as these three countries within UK

  8. Get the private sector to invest in health, not government which is inefficient. Indians have cheaper medical services than those Scottish guys.

  9. What investment can come from people who don’t even know how to speak. You need an interpreter to interpret their English. Without the English, Scotland will be impoverished. Just look at the behavior of Guy Scott, like a person who has never been to school.

    • This old man knows how to waste money. This was meant for Kambwili but muzungu wopusa wanted to go and invite his people to come and recolonize us. He gives himself as an example of how even finished and expired whites can be elevated to high political offices in Africa.
I hate this and wished some of these people were on these missing planes!

    • @Tisa well though I wouldn’t wish Scott to be on one of those planes but I’m very concerned that alot of funds are being spent on his stay there, funds which could have been used in other areas of development right here in Zambia.

  10. @1.3 Mushota
To begin with HH is more well connected to Scotland than Guy Scott despite his parents originating from there. HH is connected to renown business men and 1st minister of Scotland. That is a bonus for HH who is also better educated that CNP.
Currently Zambia has no president to talk about because he has never been seen or heard in public its all ‘Kabisha kabisha’. This is not what Zambians expected in their presidency – it’s obscene, shameful and awe-full as we would say with Pemrokeshire accent. Shame on PF govt. HH is in coming president Zambians are set for it.

  11. Scott is just a disturbed individual. Zambia needs to put out a tender, and the best offer be chosen, by the gov’t. He is not the govt of Zambia to go about dishing out our services like sweeties. Zambians have no clue of the true nature of these UK/Scottish citizens. They are racist as hell and are truly looking to exploit you for their gain. Hospital services in the UK/Scotland are the worst in Europe. They are management heavy, full of ‘kill’ them quick theories in order to release hospital beds quickly. He went for games and look he is making business deals. NO THANK YOU, MR NEIL WE DO NOT WANT TO REMEMBER LIVINGSTONE and the colonialists of that time!

  12. Another thing you need to know, Scottish people have very long pockets, stingy as hell. They’ll take every penny for profit and you’ll have have to purchase your own hospital mattresses for the cold floor; you can forget cotton buds! This is so disorderly, you can’t let these pigs out of country with all their shenanigans. I have been watching track race today and not one Zambian win one wee race! It is just one attempt at giving out Zambian money to Britain. Is it not Irish business men the gov’t tried to sue at high court in London? And lost billions of Zambian money. The rich few taking money abroad with their white friends leaving hungry children. These are just money laundering schemes.
