The Grand Coalition on the Campaign for a new People Driven Constitution has challenged the PF government to stop wasting people’s time with political rhetoric and give the people of Zambia their constitution.

Grand Coalition Vice Chairperson Beatrice Grilo said what Mr. Lungu said in parliament yesterday is not different from what his fellow Ministers have been saying but that it is not for the Ministers to say whether the country has a functional constitution or not.

Ms Grilo said the PF should stop telling people that the country has a functional constitution when they are the same people who promised to give Zambians a people driven constitution when elected into office.

She challenged the PF to categorically explain to the nation why their stance on the constitution making process has changed saying the PF should tell the nation whether their aim was to deceive the people into voting for them or they didn’t know what they where doing and did not understand the issue at all.

She noted that people are tired of listening to government give excuses when all they need to do is release the document so that people can debt and move to the next stage.

Ms. Grilo added that the country has become a laughing stock abroad as it has been failing to produce a people driven document for over 18 years without any success.

She wondered if the PF will be of the same view when they are kicked out of office and are standing on the side of government.

She noted that PF Ministers are busy saying the constitution is functional because they are in government and it suits them for now but that they should still be of the same view once they are out government.

Ms. Grilo was commenting on remarks by acting leader of government business in parliament Edger Lungu who told parliament yesterday that the current constitution is functional.

    • SATA IS DEAD AND SO IS THE CONSTITUTION ISSUE FOR NOW.

The constitution is dead because SATA ,the one who is supposed to authorise it to be adopted died in June. For now we are supposed to wait for a new president to move the constitution forward.

    • now what? judicial reforms! but government has 3 arms,,, no reforms for legislation arm,,,, and nothing for the executive arm,,,, yet all these arms have to work together,,,,, then the draft constitution disappears,,,,,, the president disappears too!! yaba!!,,,,,FBI come help locate Sata!,,,

    • WANZELU

Your explanation on the (Teacher/Nun) beating could be the only plausible explanation. On MCS you are dead wrong. Politics not for you but relationship expert yes.

    • The PF govt has not refused to give our beloved nation a people driven constitution that will stand the test of time.

Its Beatrice and her friends’ are welcome to remind govt but govt will not yield to undue pressure over the constitution making process at the expenses of much more pressing and demanding issues that need immediate attention.

besides the constitution making process has never been stopped. its still ongoing.

Be assured that the constitution will be delivered with or without the so called grand coalition.

    • Zambians are jokers to say the least. I bet its not an issue to do with education but rather lacking common sense. People driven constitution was promised in 90 days surprisingly even the so called learned colleagues have been duped but haven’t taken any action against this and every Zambian knows that the PF is just buying time. The fact is You will never see the constitution under this government and you know it. Why then continue crying for spilled milk. You lost it by electing liars in the highest offices and your only option is 2016 again. So there you have it but enjoy your voting efforts for now. Regards,

  1. there must be something in the people driven constitution that does not suit the PF government, why are they so afraid to release it? Yes we demand the release of the new constitution, there more it is denyed us the more we thirst for it, it is our rights to have the constitution released.

    • Beatrice is better of going for gender reassignment.

Do we need a grand coalition for her to adopt a proper gender and eventually change her name from Beatrice to Patrice after the procedure? Maybe not

if she is willing we can raise money for her to pay for the procedure.

      I await your response

  2. Beatrice Grilo ka slimming diet atishani ? The constitution will come dear Rome wasn’t built in a single day.

  3. Who gave you the constitution you have today , why do the constitution become an issue today don’t you have more important issues to talk about ,let money be used for infrastructure not that paper , you people you have closed your eyes from what matters you have gone for smoke , we the odinary people

  4. Wanzelu it’s your dad who is dead after milking the cow. Your dad and mum are full of nothing but shame.

  5. Let’s have it, Soon rather than later, please! Is Ms Grillo wearing bangles from elephant tusks?

  6. ar u politiciam madam?ar u maried madam? u sound to av taken the o isue so strong and too personal just take it easy av some respect for men.dis things come and go but u will remaim .

  7. @1.3 Robin
Get the context Wanzelu makes over Sata died in June and now the nation is without a president. Robin I ask, what signs have you seen or experienced Zambia has a functioning presidency?
Let Zambia not be subjected to one ethinic grouping that hide the death of their chief. Zambia is bigger than one ethinic group. Sata is treated like an ordinary chief from a clan that does not want to alarm their subjects with the deterioration in health an individual has become, only falsely to assure them that he is fine and working. Oh! what self delusion when reality catches up with truth.

  8. Zambia ,a country of sheep governed by a herd of foxes won’t see a constitution approved anytime soon.Kill ,impeach or exile these misruling PF zealots if you want a constitution.

  9. Grand coalition shouts we want new constitution. . . Govt shouts our constitution is fine. This cycle will continue, and Einstein has a word for this madness.

  10. As I stated last week, one of my staff’s brother is a medical doctor at Milpark Hospital in Parktown West, Johannesburg. He is the head of the trauma centre and the one dealing with Sata’s son, Kazimu. He saw Sata last week and was shocked when told the man was still president of a country because. He also did note clear signs of frontotemporol dementia in Sata which he attributed to an advanced and irreversible case of Alzheimers disease. For all I care, the lumpen deserves it, all we need to do now as Zambians is hit the streets to remove a mad man from our corridors of power. This is a very embarrassing case never ever seen before in the world where a mad man is allowed to continue in office. All those who are responsible for this tragic state of affairs must be arrested and executed…

  11. KEEP TALKING. SCHOOLS, HEALTH CENTRES, ROADS, UNIVERSITIES … ETC ..ARE BEING BUILT AND 2016 IS APPROACHING. EVERYONE CAN SEE THAT . PEOPLE ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT SUCH ISSUES INCLUDING JOB CREATION NOT THE CONSTITUTION. IT WILL COME AT AN APPROPRIATE TIME. GRAND COALITION IS PROBABLY A DEPARTMENT WITHIN UPN….

  12. Forget it …if that’s what your sponsors are telling you PF government has an agreement with the Zambian Voters hence our loyalty. And Voters (Zambians) development e.g Roads, schools, Universities, more jobs and more money in our pockets. Shout the loudest and our voter who have our loyalty will never hear you.
