Catholic Church condemns homosexuality

Share

The Catholic bishops have strongly condemned same sex marriages and other unions that go against human nature and natural law.

The Bishops in the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) have since affirmed the institution of marriage as an indissoluble union of love between a man and a woman
AMECEA Chairman Rev. Berhaneyesus Souraphiel says marriage between man and woman is the only institution which is open to procreation and denounced any attempt to redefine marriage.

Rev. Souraphiel explained that Family life must be respected, promoted and protected so that it can provide men and women an opportunity to weave a social fabric of peace and harmony.

ZANIS reports that this is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of 18th AMECEA Plenary Assembly held in Lilongwe from the 16 to 26th July, 2014.

AMECEA consists of eight countries namely Malawi, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, Eritrea, Zambia, Uganda and Ethiopia.

And the Catholic Bishops have expressed sadness at the on-going conflicts in Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia.

Rev. Souraphiel said the bishops have deplored the suffering of the people in the named countries and other parts of the world.

He has since appealed to governments in the region to work hard and address the root causes of these problems to ensure protection of the lives of people and their properties.

The Reverend has further appealed for concerted regional and global efforts towards solving these problems being faced in the named countries.

  1. Mushota, Gen, Luapula Saulosi are part of the Bemba theiving cartel who are hell bent on stopping HH getting to State House because these lazy tenderprenuer (rely on corruption and govt contracts/tenders) tribalists are more than certain, in their thieving minds, that HH will allow the law to take its course and have them locked up!

There game plan is simply. Using goggle alert, Mushota and his thieving colleagues will quickly come to blog and allege that HH and Tongas are tribal. They hope that they can dupe the rest of the Zambians so that they continue voting for the tribe that is most tribal which respects stealing like a mother-in-law.

    • @Siamenengo, you are an as*hole. Stick to the topic mabisi eating monkey. Why not wait for 2016? You are the ones having sleepless nights knowing that HEMCS is at the helm. How does that make you feel?

    • Hypocrites! Half the priests are gay! What kind of men would choose to live with other men for life, if they weren’t! I am just saying.

  2. So why have Caholic priests being abusing young boys over the decades? YOU PEOPLE ARE HYPOCRITES!!!!!! Practice what you preach.

    • it is actually their money and their many stooges they control who are pushing for this homosexuality. then they openly fo.ol us with holy pronouncements!

  3. Bad headline, LT. If you read the article, you will see the Church called out same-sex marriage, not homosexuality itself. There’s a difference between the right to be free of the violence, harassment, and hate speech people undergo in Africa – in the misused name of Christianity – and same-sex marriage. People should not have to fear persecution from a religion that says “love your enemies.” Headlines like this don’t help.

    • Gays are not anybody’s enemy – they are simply sick people who need help and rehabilitation. That, at any rate, is my opinion.

  4. From Paragraph 3 of the communiqué, it is clear that the church does not support same-sex marriage. Elsewhere in the paragraph we read:

“We strongly condemn same sex unions and other deviations that go against human nature and natural law.”

From the overall wording, I am almost sure (but not quite) that the church is strongly against consensual, same-sex acts. My quibbles are:

    –What is a union?
    — It is a matter of personal opinion as to what is meant by a deviation, human nature, and natural law.

Unfortunately, the bishops leave themselves open to criticism in Paragraph 11:

“We strongly affirm that all human rights should always be respected and guaranteed in every society. This is the basis of lasting peace and harmony.”

    • Ho hum! It looks like I cannot post a direct link to the communique. Copy and paste this into google, along with the quotation marks:

“THE 18TH AMECEA PLENARY ASSEMBLY OF BISHOPS’ FINAL COMMUNIQUE”

Look for hits at Vatican Radio

  5. The bishops condemned same sex marriage NOT homosexuality. Please LT refrain from misleading headlines and get your facts right. We have enough confusion in our beloved country without you people adding to it.

  6. You same priests are the people that are busy molesting young boys, and you are here talking about homosexuality and same sex marriages.

  7. Well done bishops. This is what we expect from the church. Those supporting homosexuality are satanists. When these perverts, faggots or lesbians grow old or die they leave no child. By extrapolation, if every one on earth was a faggot or a lesbian there would be no offspring to continue with procreation. The human race would vanish from earth. BUT animals would continue to live on earth through procreation via male -female coitus. Therefore a pope, bishop, priest , pastor or christian worth his name should vehemently oppose these perverts, faggots and their sponsors. God will judge these these western faggot perverts.

    • Your religion is supposed to teach love, but you condemn and hate and discriminate. It’s easy for you to talk about how unnatural homosexuality is, but you’ve no idea about what is natural to them. You obviously have no knowledge of the science of the matter, or even the idea of liberality. Give them the choice, it’s not up to others to judge. And if procreating is such a good thing, why are we in so much strife with overpopulation? The planet would be better off without humanity, it’s just against your magical space-man’s wishes.
