Lubinda has overstayed, Kabwata needs fresh ideas

Aspiring candidate for Kabwata Constituency Clement Tembo has charged that current Member of Parliament has over stayed and should give room for others to develop the area.

Mr Lubinda has been MP for 13 years and would have served for 20 years if he contests and wins re-election in 2016.

Mr Tembo said it is unfortunate that Mr Lubinda wants to cling on to power when he has allegedly failed to effectively represent the people of Kabwata.

“Mr Lubinda is not there with the people, he is always stuck in his constituency office but people want him to move around and interact with them. Kabwata is not just about Chilimbulu and Burma roads, how about Jack compound, who is speaking out for those people? Kabwata is full of heaps and heaps of garbage and the MP is saying it is not his duty to clear garbage in Kabwata. I do not agree with that because the welfare of the constituency is supposed to be his baby.”

Mr Tembo said he decided to engage the local authority and hired the garbage clearing equipment at a small cost to demonstrate to residents in Kabwata that an MP can initiate development. He said it is sad that the poor people in areas of Kabwata such as Jack compound are still using shallow wells for their water needs.

“In this day and age, you expect people in Kabwata to be using shallow wells and you are still there as MP? Morally, you should just step aside.”

Mr Tembo said he has not officially kicked off his campaigns but was merely introducing himself to the electorate in Kabwata.

“We are doing something that has never been done before. We are introducing our ideas and telling the people that we are here to serve. We are not waiting for 2016 to meet our people, we have started sharing our ideas with the local people and that is not campaign,” he said.

Mr Tembo said his interactions with the people do not amount to political campaigns which might contravene the Electoral Code of Conduct since the official campaign period has not been officially declared.
He said the youths in Kabwata have resorted to beer drinking because of lack of jobs and recreation.

“What we plan to do is put together a number of youth cooperatives, have them registered and provide skills and allow them to bid for some of these construction works going on. No youth will be found in bars because everybody will be busy working,” he said.

Mr Tembo also pointed that Mr Lubinda has done well in the area of education infrastructure in Kabwata with the construction of Kamulanga School.

“On Kamulanga School, big up to the MP, that is a lot of good work. On the land issues in Mapopo he also did very well and helped the poor people there but surely he has over stayed and he should leave room for people with fresh ideas,” he said.

Mr Tembo also ranked President Michael Sata as one of the most hard working MPs when he served as in the 1990s.

“Kabwata has had a number of big political figures who have served as MP and their work is there to show but I think President Sata’s legacy in Kabwata is there for all to see, the Merzaf flats speaks for itself,” he said.

  1. Kabwata is one of the big constituency in Lusaka with the upcoming of new houses in Chalala. I feel this area need to be slit in two constituencies. It has become too big for one MP to manage. Its true ba Given has over-stayed, we like him as our MP but he has not done much for the 13 years he’s been there.

  2. Go ahead my brother, these old MPS have ancient ideas…we really need new ideas..zambians its time to start supporting young leaders with a vision.

    • Well written not only Lubinda, we should Introduce terms for MPs and Ministers, no one should go beyond 2 terms. They become complacent, lazy and take people for a ride. Young man keep up the pressure you will win.

    • The entire gang of thieves masquerading as a government

      1. Ukwa – grade 2 village headman
      2. Scott — PhD with no brain
      3. Chikwanda – fossil
      4….. etc

      have over stayed their welcome.

Keep it up young man…. lets kick out these baboon in the November presidential by-election

    • The first to go should be ABC and Michael Gondwe!
These two have destroyed our once ticking economy!
They have drilled more holes in our pockets.
Everything has gone up and the poor salary is now a frozen chicken.
Consumer spending and investor confidence down to zero!
      Crime wave on the rise.
      How do we survive?
If MPs are complaining about their pay, who are we not to feel this impact of gross economic mismanagement? I think it’s time for change!!

    • Chase those crazy bald heads out of town… did my people not slave for this country which you are destroying with scorn.

  3. I totally agree, especially that in parliament his tail is coiled in his legs and is no longer as vocal as we know him.

  4. i know clement well, Lubinda is better. Clement wants to be famous and rich out of politics. Drop your shoulders down and stop fighting your father. Dont blame Lubinda or talk ill about him if you want to stand in Kabwata. Tell us what you are capable off and not pointing fingers iwee chi………

  5. Yes we like ba Given but he has over stayed. Kabwata constituency has grown with the coming up of new houses in the chalala area, hence we need a very active and hard working MP.

  6. We we like ba Given but he has over stayed. More over Kabwata constituency has grown double the size with the coming up of new areas like chalala. We need an active and hard working MP. This young man looks promising.

  7. ati Mr Lubinda wants to cling on to power!!!! lol!!!! you are not wise Clement. Just do your thing and stop pointing out Lubinda’s mistakes. Tell the people why they should support you to be their MP not fighting Lubinda. if surprisingly Lubinda gets a senior position in Government, you will be the first to praise him in return for survival favours. Take it low and just do your thing. Us Africans, Bwafya!!!!!!!!!!!.

  8. Clement Tembo must be given support. The current parliament is full of dead wood and even their boss acknowledged that by referring to them as useless MP’s.
Fight on Tembo you have the support.

  9. Young people are not as serious as us madalas. People like Tembo just want allowances in parliament and gratuity at the end of it all. I for one don’t want to experiment. Experience is the key. He is just campaigning and cannot do anything at all. Just look at his face, does he look serious or eying tax-payers’ money? I rest my case. Oh by the way, I know some cadres will take me on. I don’t care even if you insult me, you foo.ls!!!!

    • Zambians are treacherous! Look at the thing behind him – all sweet lies!
I don’t care about your age! Show me what you have achieved in your life and what you stand for – your values. Otherwise another sweet talking deceiver!

  10. Mr brother mr Tembo and your fake supporters, please announce the party you intend to stand on.To all those supporting mr Tembo tell me which constituency in Zambia is developed more than Kabwata. We have seen many pipo come like mr Tembo only to either lose or concentrate on his pocket once in parliament.I understand very well that Zambians have short memory and enjoy being cheated.Zambians are also vipuba and never learn lessons.I pose my question again, can some chipuba Zambian tell me which constituency in Zambia is developed and has lesser problems. All pipo that go to parliament it is their pockets first.I hope you are not borrowing this money you are using to collect gabbage.or else uzalila.

  11. I support you Tembo, not that you are young but that some MPs have over stayed. MPs must also have only 2 terms of office so that other people also enjoy the national cake. All those guys in UPND and MMD who have been there more than 2 terms must go in 2016. They should not be adopted, its too much for the MPs in UPND and MMD.

  12. Lubinda can move up to VP, if PF wins again. But Kabwata is for the young pretender! People with vision, and proactive. Tempo fits the bill.

  13. We want to know his CV first before he can be evaluated, otherwise for now its difficult to know what he stands for

  14. Overstaying is not the issue here. The chap should just tell us what Lubinda has failed to do and what he (Tembo is going to do). This is a dull way of putting up an arguement. One can stay for as long as he is doing fine and people are happy with him. Overstaying? Do you mean Lubinda put himself there.
If you will use the overstaying campagn messages, I see you giving za yellow more chance.

Your other mistake is that you have started too early giving za yellow more chance to prepare himself and even do what he would have forgottern to do. But all the same this is good for checks and balances.
As for the messages on your posters, personally I have seen a lot of such scrap. But just tell us how you are going the clean water and all those lies on the posters.

    • True. We need other actors now. Too much balayumfwa ati I can even be president. !13yrs in one post is enough

  15. fresh ideas and a breath of fresh air. I hope this is no a gimmick because it’s time we as country got to work to fix our beloved Zambia.

  16. It’s not one individual with new ideas who will bring change to Kabwata but only the Kabwata constituents themselves. It is them who have made the place be what it is today with rundown structures, non existent or blocked drainage systems, poor sanitation e.t.c.
    Charity begins at home….
What Mr. Clement Tembo is saying is nothing new.Once he wins the parley seat,he will only worry about his pocket.I’ve lived in Kabwata since 1996.

  17. Bravo Clement!!! We need young and fresh minds. What will Lubinda do this time which he hasn’t done in the last 15 years? Its time for the young minds to take charge.

  18. Young disciplined, educated and focused .Not because one is young he qualifies. People like Masumba. What can you learn from him?

  19. Its not only Given Lubinda who is tired. There are a lot more. Kafue MP or former taxi driver Mwaliteta is one such tired character. I wonder if these MPs and their councilors are seeing what young MPs like Miles Sampa are doing in their areas. Sampa is worth overstaying because he is working
