MMD is UPND’s threat in 2016 polls – Muhabi

MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu says his party believes the opposition UPND considers it a threat ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Mr Lungu says this is the more reason why the UPND has been busy poaching its members with a view of weakening the former ruling party.

Mr. Lungu has told Qfm news that his party has received information that the UPND has been allegedly offering incentives to MMD members to entice them to join the UPND, but that most of them have declined to do so.

He has however advised MMD members not sure of their existence in the party to leave and join the UPND and leave committed members to reorganize the former ruling party.

The MMD national Secretary says regardless of the UPND’s maneuvers, the MMD does not consider the Hakainde Hichilema led party as a threat to its chances of bouncing back to power.

He says this is because the MMD is a party that has been tried and tested before by the Zambian people.

Mr. Lungu adds that his party can claim with evidence that it governed better than the ruling Patriotic Front when it was in power.

But UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has already challenged the MMD to produce evidence of its allegations that his party has been bribing MMD members to defect to the UPND.

    • Alungu, you have got it all wrong. UPND is PF’s biggest threat, not MMD . MMD is dead awaiting burial. Burial date is being delayed by PF ‘s court tactics. Once UPND takes those seats in Eastern province, that will be day MMD will be officially buried.

Remember the day UPND got the Katuba seat, MMD cracks resurfaced and are still visible. Those cracks will widen once UPND wins seats in Eastern province.

The Mangongo seat is already in UPND’s kitty. Thats why Mwaliteta is already crying foul and importing a lot thugs from over to go and rig the votes.

MMD and UNIP belong to the dust bin nowadays. If MMD wanted to renew their image they should try a young leader who has never saved in government before. For now its more of the same failed stooges at the helm of power.

    • UPND has never been a winning team except of course in southern province. It takes a party to be popular in at least 4 provinces to qualify to be considered a winning team like is the case with MMD which has strong presence in Central, Eastern, Western and North-Western Provinces. How can UPND be a winning team when it only has 20% support in central province?

    • who wants a party led by someone with a repugnant history of long sticky fingers on national treasury to be in govt? No chance!!

I have asked mentally contaminated chaps like wanzelu to roll out a development program of his provincial pack, but nothing has been given.

While MMD had the best chance to do so much for the country, they messed up and have a near to impossible battle to get back into power.

      But it nice to dream

    • DO YOU EXPECT THE FREEMASON TO AGREE THAT HE IS SCHEMING THAT EVIL?THIS AGENT OF DARKNESS JUST WANT TO DECIVE CHRISTIAN BY SAYING HE IS A CHRISTIAN WHEN 15 YRS AGO HE SAID HE NEVER BELIEVED IN JESUS……

    • True devils are the PF who have consistently told people lies. Up now they are still lying to the people that Sata is fit and well and yet we know that he incapacitated in some way by being brain or physically dead.

Sampa told another lie yesterday to gain political mileage by using borrowed money and presented a cheques in his name instead of the constituency the money was destined for.

Hate HH as bad as you like, aleisa aleisa aleisa. He is currently the front runner to win any general election.

Magongo, Petauke, Malambo, Vubwi, Solwezi central, Mulobezi, Itezi itezi, and siamunene’s UPND will win them easily.

SATA and his whole team are powerless to stop HH and UPND. If he stole any money why is SATA and his team afraid of prosecuting him? Instead he is charged of…

    • @Wanzelu-be scientific in your analysis of winning national elections. In statistics/numbers of voters, there are more voters in Northern/Muchinga Province followed by CB,then Lsk.Other Provinces are just top-up votes. That’s why PF won, with Western Province as top-up.So you can win Katuba,Mangango etc-that won’t translate to winning national votes. You boast of being educated as UPNd,but from your shallow analysis, you have proved the opposite

    • @Moonde

Going by your analysis, then the 43% vote will be split up among ,FDD, MMD PF and NAREP,parties. There is a chance for UPND to come second in Luapula, Northern and Muchinga if the PF continues to block HH and UPND from campaigning. But in all the other provinces, UPND will lead the pack no matter what.

In Lusaka and CB all seats are winnable by UPND.

    • We are tired of the free masonry scare tactics and campaigns which denied Zambia a chance have it’s resources managed and utilized in a wealth creation way by Mazoka. Since you feel so strong about the freemasonry according to your allegations why not let the love of God shine through you and evangelise by reaching out based upon the commandment given to believers to preach the gospel. Zambia needs issue based politics and a strong MMD and a strong UPND. Dr Mumba and HH can both make good presidents. God can use anyone , he used Rahab the prostitute and look at her great legendary. God looks at the heart and not the outward appearances, he is looking for servants.

  1. “….MMD is a party that has been tried and tested…”

and found extremely wanting and repulsive in the eyes of the people MMD betrayed. It will definitely take massive reorganisation of the party before they regain the popularity they enjoyed in 1991. This is a mammoth task beyond the party’s ability to achieve. The betrayal of the people by the MMD was just so complete, irrevocable and permanent. I think MMD should do themselves and all of us a favour by folding their political tent and fading away. A straight path that leads directly to state house has been carved nicely for UPND to walk it.

    • MMD is far more popular than UPND despite having lost power in the recent election. Even in southern province, MMD has a reasonable support base of 19% where as UPND has a paltry 3% support in Eastern Province .UPND must learn to understand that what takes parties to state house is popularity and nothing else.

    • @Chibwika

Your analysis is way out dated. Why is MMD getting third place in by elections nowadays if they are that popular?

Going forward the battle line has been drawn. Its between UPND and PF. PF, because they are in power they will use all the government resources to their advantage but still UPND will beat them hands down.

PF , NAREP and MMD have sympathisers only in 3 provinces namely, Northern, Muchinga and Luapula. Its here where the MMD and PF vote will be shared. massively. UPND has Southern, Central, Lusaka, Western ,North Western, 85%CB and Eastern province. In Eastern province, people now understand why UPND is being blocked by PF. Its because majority Easterners now prefer to be associated with UPND than either PF or MMD.

My political speculations are 97% correct.

    • @Wantanshi-MMD has been tried and tested. That’s why now pipo are saying, let’s go back to MMD-No more fatal experiments. The failed project of PF is the lesson we’ve learnt the hard way.So another UPND Experiment won’t work.Only to those under a upnd spell/witchcraft,engineered by the chief Freemason himself.God forbid, that we go back to Egypt.

    • UPND should not start counting chickens by the number of un hatched eggs.In its current form,MMD can boast of having shed off all perceived corrupt elements. For starters,RB is no longer heading the party.Richard Kachingwe is no linger National Secretary.Madam Nalumango is no longer with MMD.Comrade Liato is gone while William Banda is special adviser to a PARTY of his choice.
To his credit,Nervers Mumba like the current Roman Catholic Pope Francis apologized to Zambians for forgiveness for any transgressions the Party might have inflicted on the country. Is there any leader in this country who has done this???

  2. But why are failing to poach members from them? i dont think there is a law against that…………………and looking at how many seats they won from you Mr Lungu you might do well to accept the ugly truth.

  3. @Zed Patriot-In’gombe Ilede/Iyona Politics. Please ba UPND,politics is not for sleeping cows,Politics comes from a Greek word POLITIK,and it means ‘HUMAN GOVERNANCE’.So you’re dealing with pipo who’re very much awake and alive to yo dirty tricks.Usually pipo don’t accept that they’re corrupt.they always say, bring evidence.VIVA MMD.

  4. As long as UPND is not popular in Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Copperbelt,Lusaka, Eastern, and Central Province it is a dream for them to win elections. Remember Southern Province taught other provinces how to vote.

    • Why are people behaving like MCS; burying their heads in the sand. If nothing is done to correct the mess PF has brought, HH is winning big time. Try to let him visit all provinces, you will be shocked with the support he will generate. It will send even Kabimba and M’membe to the ICU in UTH.

    • Musonda you are wrong. UPND has taken Central, Lusaka, Western, North Western, Ndola Rural, Southern of course, they are soon to take Eastern. CB will soon be in UPND’s bag. Northern, Luapula and Muchinga will be shared by MMD, NAREP and PF. Zambia has been divided so badly on tribal lines that the rest of the tribes feel left out in terms of appointments etc hence the teaming up. Disagree at own peril.

    • Its good to dream, but be carefull not to hallucinate. UPND cannot win the next elections. Facts and figures are simply against UPaNdDown and HH.

  5. MMD we don’t want you to be back in power, what i mean is that you are no more. You’ve been in power for 20 years. What do you still need in government. VIVA UPND in 2016. Pakuboko mulivoko muchikasa ajanza mwalizoho.

    • UPND have a wrong presidential candidate in the name of HH who has managed to bring down the popularity of the party from 27% to 18%.He has shamelessly told his supporters that the reason UPND does not win elections is because other tribes especially the Bemba’s don’t like Tonga’s. HH must change from thinking tribally because in less than 2 years late A.Mazoka managed at least to get 4% in Luapula Province unlike him who even after campaigning for 6 years only got 0% from the same province.

    • @Cikoy

Basiye bazalila mu 2016 when UPND ascends to power and restore Zambia ‘s dignity locally and on the international stage.

  6. Mpombo is very right when he says that “The problem between MMD and UPND is that their leadership style is based on selfish ambition and crass opportunism”.

    • Mpombo is just a bigoted fellow jostling for a position in either MMD or UPND now that PF ditched him outrightly.

  7. MMD behaves as though they are still in government and all they need is continue with their systems in place and yet there is now a different system all together or their is no system currently. Any winning party has to start from zero. After all they were booted out of government not because PF lied to Zambians but because of corruption and arrogance. The arrogance is resurfacing again already. Moreover, non performance of PF government does not mean MMD was performing well.

  8. @Zed Patriot-UPND,why do you always want/poach already groomed individuals to join your Party?.Why don’t you make an effort to groom your own?.You always want to reap where you didn’t sow.HH may not have stolen money or cows, but he can ‘steal’ other Parties’ members by poaching. So stealing does not apply only to money or non human materials. That’s why the Bible says:The devil comes to steal(humans),kill, and destroy(Jn.10:10).Those stolen by UPND,you risk being killed and destroyed.

  9. @ Chibwera 1.2….Why r u ALWAYS obsessed with Southern Province ? Its annoying.

UPND has already won a popular acceptance by ALL the Provinces…..!!!

  10. MMD your are living in past glory. Wake and face the reality. You are no longer a factor. Your corrupt past will haunt you forever.

  11. I Love MMD. There is no party in opposition that has gone through the storm that MMD has been going through and still stand almost 3 years! Look at UNIP what happened? I am surely going to give these guys my vote.

  12. wiso ewaba corrupt,MMD is now a different party under the man of God. he shall surely save Zambia VIVA NEVERS MUMBA

  13. Mr Munahi Lungu should tell us the underlying reasons which prompted Dr. Canicious Banda, MP for Malambo (Hon. Mwale) and Mrs. Nalulamango who opted to ditch MMD to join UPND.

The level of intolerance to dissenting views, as exhibited by the MMD clique towards Dr. Chituwo, Kaingu, Dora Siliya etc begs for credible answers. Indeed, both UPND and MMD are entitled to attract members from a diversity of Zambians.

Mr. Lungu should know where to direct his misguided missiles. The people of Zambia have suffered untold misery under the PF. But why is Munabi attacking UPND? The political landscape will have taken a different shape prior to the 2016 General Elections.

  14. Well spoken Muhabi. What UPND hoped for was a Presidential By-Election while the party was embroiled in internal squabbles. Now the squabbles have ended and Nevers has passed the leadership test. That is why they even mobilized their Kalingalinga thugs to go into a frenzy of calling for campaigns saying the President was dying.

The come-back of Michael Chilufya Sata before cameras, looking refreshed is a bitter blow to HH and Kabimba. God is keeping his eyes on MMD. Elections will only allow elections once MMD is ready.

  15. @ WAZELU
You think your UPND can win LSk and CB provinces ? Thats not possible bwana. In the last by election in mansa Your UPND was distanced fourth, even MMD, FDD did far much better. So what statistics are you using ?
