PF Matero Constituency MP Miles Sampa says he is happy with his youth empowerment Metro Cab idea, solely to benefit youths in the constituency.

Speaking on his social media face book page, Mr. Sampa says he underestimated it’s potential impact in the area.

He says the response has been overwhelming from all parts of the country and beyond.

He gave an update on the Metro Cab Launch that the full empowerment period has been reduced from three to two years and the weekly amount reduced to K500 from K600 as previously stated.

Mr. Sampa explains that responsible taxi drivers will therefore get to own their cars in two years.

MetroCab started full operations on the launch date , last Tuesday, as a fully registered company under the Companies act.

The MP said his constituency office has appointed Ms Ngolwa Jane Sakala as Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of Metro Cab Limited and who will be answerable to a Board of Directors.

The MetroCab is a nonprofit making entity whose sole mandate is to economically empower Youths.

All weekly cashing, according to Mr. Sampa, will be deposited directly in the Metro Cab company account by drivers and once the balance builds up to sufficient amounts to purchase another taxi, a new one will be bought and instantly given to another youth.

‘We have already been approached by potential financiers for more cabs to reach out to Youths beyond Matero, “ he said.

The next batch of 10 cabs will be rolled out sometime later this year, he said adding that: The only qualifying factor for the raffle being a PSV license (women are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity as well).

If I were to steal money, I’d make sure I learn how to not be a show-off.

  1. A well-meaning venture Mr. MP! Don’t listen to nay Sayers who’s only interest is to see you and this project fail so they can bring you to their level—these are folks who pride themselves in the STATUS QUO—to them, it is equivalent to a crime to DARE THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!

As you empower these youths with taxis, you should also endeavor to inculcate a culture of GOOD CITIZENSHIP and RESPECT for our TRAFFIC LAWS. Start by stressing to them that customer service, fairness, and respect for riders is paramount. Also respecting other motorists, pedestrians, and other users of our highways and by-ways to avoid unnecessary accidents should be part and parcel of the deal—lessons would suffice. DRUNK DRIVING should NEVER be tolerated!! That would be a very good start indeed!

  2. That’s why these to am local banks are preferable…one deals with the decision makers quickly and the to ma banks take risk with the common man…not these fima big foreign banks who only give their to ma job dependent employees discounted loans and treat the local common man like dirt…good for you Indo-bank, First Alliance bank, Zanaco and National Savings bank.

  3. WE ARE WITH YOU SAMPA. DON’T LISTEN TO UN-PROGRESSIVE EMPTY HEADS. MAN, IT’S TRUE, “PANSAKA TAPABULA FIPUBA OR AMASHILU”. YOU THE MAN MWANA. KEEP IT UP. THE PEOPLE WILL ALSO EMPOWER YOU WITH SUPPORT.

  4. I dont see anything wrong with Miles Sampa with what he has done. This is a very good move to me. If people can do that countrywide, then someone will be able to take his children to school because he will have a job. The banks can do that through reputable organizations country over. The K600 p/w is very possible, especially that people will be able to get to them because they will be able to know that they are safe because they will be able to trace if anything happens.

The problem are the same drivers, they are not faithful in some instances.

    Regards
