MMD Mwandi Member of Parliament Michael Kaingu has observed that the gesture by PF Matero MP Miles Sampa to donate taxis to jobless youths in his constituency is a business venture.

Dr Kaingu said there is nothing spectacular about Mr Sampa’s initiative because he is treating it as a business venture.

“It is not really a donation. It’s an investment. He promised those youths and he has used a business principle to deliver part of that promise. It’s really nothing as far as am concerned,” Dr Kaingu said.

He said the public should not use the Mr Sampa’s initiative as the pinnacle for public service saying some MPs do a lot of work even without publicizing them.

“Some work quietly you know, they don’t want to attract unnecessary attention but they do a lot of work for their people so for me am really not bothered,” he said.

  1. Zambians very good at pointing fingers find your our business venture too Mr. Kaingu. We worst so much time talking about others. Shame. Where is your Mid-term gratuity

    • What Millimeter has done needs to be commended, lets not find excuses to justify our Greediness.

Kaingu, Where is your Business venture that will benefit the community? Greedy character, shaa!!

    • Ba Kaingu, it is better to say MPs need to be more smarter to use the “media”. Yes we all know that its Miles Sampa’s business, but he made a huge impact on himself with his 4 yellow cabs, compared to your 100 bicycles you distributed in your constituency.
Miles Sampa is not working, but busy selling himself, that’s what MPs should be doing.

    • K600 x 52 (weeks a year) x 3 = K93,600 – 25,000 (cost of car) = K68,600 x 10 cars = K686,000 profit for Miles Sampa.

      K0.00 x 52 (weeks a year) x 3 = K0.00 income for driver after 3 years + K13000.00 (value of car after 3 years) – K126 000 (cost of living at K3500 per month x 12 x 3 years) = K111,000 loss for the driver

Tell me, who stands to gain here?

    • I know Kaingu’s gratuity is used to buy his many children laptops so they can film themselves.
At least 6 youths are out of the streets ,what are you doing for your Province.

    • Some quacks are even doing calculations as if its their money. Chopet!!! Miles Sampa continue with the hard work, we are behind you. Atleast some youths are being empowered with YOUR gratuity unlike kaingu who will chew his gratuity alone with his family.

    • Bo Kaingu just give praise where praise is due.I know you are guilty of not doing enough for your people.

    • J J simple Sampa will gain and these taxis will be finished by then if you look at the poor state of Zambian roads shame

  2. Miles to go…This guy’s gestures are very plastic..i don’t just see genuineness in his conducts….

  3. Ofcourse its a business venuture duh? He is employing youth in an enterprise which is supposed to sustain itself, whats wrong with that Mr Kaingu? Tell us? He has done something commendable which will impact the lives if those unemployed its just what they need. What did u do this your gratuity Mr Kaingu?

    • Indeed. We know that even the boys will benefit. The money they will raise per week may be more than K600. But since Miles will only need K600 as indicated, it means the rest the boys can chew! That is what happens in the transport sector all the time. You share with your Lorry Boy!

  4. Well said Kaingu. Its all politicking and misleading the electorate ahead of the 2016 elections. In fact, the youths are basically working their lungs out with the K600 cash-in requirement. The average cash-in for “working for a taxi” in Lusaka and Kitwe is 500 per week, with NO a salary but get the cars after 2 years. The matero MP’s initiative is exploitative because the poor driver will be paying a higher weekly cash-in (K600), but only get their cars after 3 years! And three years…these Spacios will be wrecks! In the meantime, the manipulative MP will walk away with the “votes” and a name for himself.

We can see through these gimmicks. Try something truly empowering and really transformative for the skills and livelihoods of the thousands of youths in matero, NOT just 10…

    • Am I the only one who heard the part where Sampa says the money will be going into a revolving fund to purchase more taxi’s and continue the project? HE WONT BE GETTING THE PROFIT.
Don’t hate cause the man developed a concept that kills 3 birds with one stone: fulfilled an electoral promise to help create youth employment; garnered massive support within his constituency; and made his name #1 trending in the media this week.

  5. I dont know why people think that Sampa is a good MP for doing this.

Sampa is going to make more money that he has spent buying the cars, each of that car cost about K25,000 or less.

He told the drivers to be paying K600 per week for 3 years which means that each driver will be paying K31,200 per year.

After 3 years, each driver will pay Sampa K93,600 and believe me, by that time, those cars will be junk.

THIS IS USING THE POOR AND STEALING!!!! if this was donating and helping his electorates, he should have told them to pay for the cars in 1 year or less. This guy is a clever crook!!

    • He is a Businessman. What have you done with the your training to help or is it to exploit the people around you?

    • @Gundown-This is what the UPND call successful businessman. You see, there’s some immorality in this business.Exploiting the poor youths in the name of job creation, youth empowerment etc.And some UPND can say wealth creation. This is immoral. This kind of leadership,is very exploitative-hidden slavery.

    • @Gundown, Sampa is not a businessman, he is an MP, he is suppose to save and help people of Matero and not exploit them. K93,600 is too much money to pay for that cheap car!!

    • I have owned a Taxi business before, I f you let a Taxi Driver loose, without those conditions, I tell you after two weeks your Cab will be scrap metal. Well I may agree with you on the three years because on the market we give them max 2 years. But to inculcate a sense of responsibility in carders that may just be necessary. The other reason he may give them that number of years is;
      1. we have 2 years to go before the elections, by then he would have recovered his money.
      2. The last year is tricky because he maybe fighting court cases at that time because the PF might or is it will be out of office and the Drivers can choose to defect to the party in power with those cars.

    • Gundown, either your taxi was scrap right from the beginning or your driver was very careless and incompetent, or your story is fictitious.

Guys, appreciate when someone does something positive. Your employer is equally making a lot more money off you than he is paying you (assuming you are in employment), and you report for work ndweee.

    • which employment? This is slavery. You have to folk K 93,600.00 to get a spacio that will be a wreck after 3 years then you say I’m employed? Mind you this K 600 per week is cashing. Where is maintenance going to come from? Why are Zambians so easily cheated? I can guess that a lot of Zambians were taken as slaves by Tip Tip because of our very trusting nature. How can one fail to make quick arithmetic in this and see that there is nothing for the so called youths. The Guy is swiftly and smartly multiplying his money while you watch, cheer and praise. Come on guys lets work up. Please PF zealots start thinking with your heads.

  6. Sampa is a hard worker but he should working without the publicity that is when people will appreciate him more.

  7. Bo Kaingu.Your thinking surprises me.You don’t think like a PHD holder. What Sampa has done is recommendable.Imagine if all you MPs where to use your gratuities, the way Sampa has done,a number of youths can be employed.I think MMD NEC did well to strip you the VP position, because with kind of thinking, you were going to do a lot of damage and disservice to the MMD.Now I see your stay in MMD is just waiting to get the K500,000 gratuity, then you’re done and say bye to politics.

  8. Spot on…people need to do the maths here…if this spoiled boy Sampa was genuine he would have said after 48 months you get to keep the vehicle that’s a good incentive. You people need to differentiate between a nonprofit venture and a business venture. …this laziness from reading is now being passed on to basic mathematics.

  9. Typical Zambian traits.. Probably in the comfort of yo home condemning other people who r tryin to make a difference even if it means using their vast resources but one should note that it takes a lot to do somethin like that. Why doesn’t Mr Kaingu correct Mr Sampa’s mistake if anythat is, and show him how it should be done.. Believe me those lucky drivers are happy. Can’t wait to jump on one of those yellow cabs coz I kno where the ‘cashing’ is goin.

    • Shut up! It is Miles Sampa who had a go at other MPs. Kaingu has the right to reply to Kilometre Sampa’s nonsense.

  10. Employment creation in any color or shade is a public good. Bashing charity in a market oriented economy is contradictory. That explains why MMD lost elections. How could a national leader attack employment creation publically? It is better to offer PSV drivers and mechanical technicians some income generation activties than to stand on the fence. Stop destroying jobs. Stop demotivating our national warriors.

  11. First and foremost he is avoiding paying tax for the cabs.
Secondly, when the taxi drivers are under his employment they can not afford to vote against him.
    Chapwa.

  12. ARE THEY GOING TO MAINTAIN THE BRAND AFTER THEY FINISH PAYING THEIR CASHING.
IS THE MP ABOVE THE LAW THAT THOSE CABS DONT HAVE THE ORANGE STRIP FOR LUSAKA ?

  13. What Miles has done is good for employment creation, never mind the motive. Understandably Kaingu is bequeathed with petty jealous, because the electorate in Mwandi will expect the same from him.

  14. Bo Kaingu, please spare us from your jealousy . Sampa has just shown you how you greedy MPs should be caring for the poor in your constituencies. At least Sampa is doing something, what about you Kaingu? You greedy selfish vampire MPs who live on the blood of the poor Zambians , tell me, what have you done for your constituency? The answer is NOTHING AT ALL and yet you want to abnormally increase your already fat salaries. Shame on you Kaingu. Leave Sampa alone.

  15. why not give credit were its due. i was just telling hon Mailoshi that he should be sharing some of his brilliant ideas with some of these ”not so smart’ folks at manda hill. the only thing they are good at is shouting ya ya ya ya and emptying bottles of mineral water.
when othr MPs are busy calling for increments in their packages, this guy is doing the opposite by giving out his gratuity to help his constituents. am sure his fellow honorables are questioning his sanity over his gesture with his gratuity

  16. Well in my humble opinion I feel Miles has done a decent thing irrespective of his motives. It is up to the recipients of these cabs to hold up their end of the bargain and if they are sharp enough, can make enough money to even buy a second, albeit used car. All I see is youths being given an opportunity to make something of themselves. As for Miles announcing this to the whole world, well he really wouldn’t be a real politician if he did this quietly in his back yard now, would he? Am happy for those youths. The selection process for the recipients was through a raffle so am guessing everything was legit.

    • @wanzelu, yes you can get arrested if you fail to pay your debts/loans anywhere in the world! First they will come for any assets you may have and if you have nothing, they can send beliefs after you and get arrested. So what Kambwili is doing/saying is NOT out of the ordinary. I only hope the youths benefiting from this venture will take their responsibilities seriously, better their lives, and pay off the ‘loans’ so doesn’t come to that.

What Sampa has done is unique among Zambian politicians, that’s why some can’t believe he is doing what he doing. It is about time Zambian youths are taught some business ethos than getting VAMAHALLA all the time. “TEACH THEM HOW TO FISH THAN GIVING THEM FISH.” If the terms are lopsided, I am sure they can always renegotiate those terms.

    • When something is good, please give credit. Even if its your enemy donating a kidney to save you or your child when you are on a dialysis machine, say thank you!! Miles you are kilometres ahead of these times of mediocrity. I would vote for you if you stood for Presi……

  17. MILES IS A MAN; IF ALL MPS THINK THE WAY THIS YOUNG POLITICIAN THINKS; ZAMBIA COULD BE TRANSFORMED IN FIVE YEARS .

KAINGU SHAME ON YOU. LEARN TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE. MILES IS USING GRATUITY TO EMPOWER YOUTHS AND MULTIPLYING THE SAME TO HELP MORE YOUTHS.

JUST LEARN FROM THIS YOUNG BOY. THIS IS LEADERSHIP THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

  18. The other thing that those individuals who are making calculations on how much profit Hon Sampa will make, there are forgeting that this is a loan and it bears interest and some funny hidden cost when. Remember to include the interest charge though its not known how much the loan bear
    s.

  19. ba kaingu jealous down the young man has done miracles than you .you have done nothin and failed to promote the film industry which was started by iris.viva miles
