Renard is Cote d’Ivoire coach

Share

Ex-Zambia coach Herve Renard has been appointed Cote d’Ivoire manager.

Renard takes over on a two-year-deal from Sabri Lamouchi who left the job just after the 2014 world Cup in Brazil.

Fédération Ivoirienne de Football confirmed on its website today that Renard beat fellow contenders Frédéric Antonetti and Manuel José for the prized job.

“We were looking for a competent and loyal coach and who has a proven record, ” FIF president Augustin Sidy Diallo said.

Renard was prior to winning the race for The Elephants job in charge of demoted French club Sochaux on a short-term deal that expired in May.

    • @Mushota, Herve Renard is the Physical Education teacher turned soccer coach who made history by winning Zambia it’s first AFCON crown and failed to defend it by being the first defending champions to exist the AFCON tournament in group stages WITHOUT WINNING A SINGLE MATCH!!!!!

    • @1.3 Mushota – Strange, isn’t it! Thought you knew all white men. Or maybe you mean the biblical ‘know’?

  1. Wow ! Congratulations Renhard ! Zambia was without a shadow of a doubt a very good stepping stone for you.Thumbs up.

    • Wow what Ivory Coast is not more developed than Zambia, ni ku mushi. I advise Renard to report to work after Ebola dries-out, otherwise twalaumfwako ichililo.

    • Cote D’vior (sp) is a finished team, let’s see new talent. But usually you get non equivalents after a good team.

      Congrats Renard though.

  2. The final nail in lvory Coast’s coffin…I’m sorry stats dont lie what Ivory Coast should be looking for is an experienced manager able to build from the youth players since their squad has aged and not one who worships star players clings on to them.

    • I have never come across anybody with as much negative energy as you buddy! I feel pity for your friends, that is if you have any.

    • Your Family must hate you, i pity your wife if you have one. I have never seen you write anything positive. Iyeee uyu mwana !

    • So you want me to LIE to YOU that with the PE teacher Ivory Coast will win all their AFCON qualifying matches and will go on to win it…YOU want me to tell you that your PE teacher will put the likes of Yaya Toure, Gervinho, Didier Drogba, Cheick Tiote and Kolo Toure in their place.
You want me to tell you that HR has an impressive record…well if you are looking for some soothing news before you retire to bed you have come to the wrong person. This is the selfsame reason the likes of Kalu are stealing with impunity as you zombies do not want to be TOLD how it is.
Wake UP…did I not tell Scholaux FC was going to be relegated when this PE teacher was appointed back in December last year.

  3. Ivory Coast have just got a Good manager.
They have better players than Zambia, especially Strike – Force, & You will see what this Man motivator will do with them.
    Zambia Watch out!!!

  4. For once, I agree with you Jay Jay. If you listened to the statement that Renard gave after Zambia drew with Egypt (1-1) way back, you would have foreseen Renard ‘ s future job trend. The dude was clearly focusing on his own aspirations instead of standing by his own team. He spent no time to jump at the Angola opportunity soon after the Africa cup of Nations and when he was jobless our not so creative FAZ president brought him back. Make no mistake, I am a die hard Kalusha supporter . .. He actually did a lot for my country as a player but administratively he is not as good. Unfortunately it has taken me a long time to realise this fact. I feel cheated. Unfortunately this is the only way I can use to vent my opinion. My fellow country men, let’s wake up and find solutions…

  5. I further extend my appeal to all of you guys, please let’s steer clear of throwing insults at one another. It doesn’t pay… Instead we can make use of this powerful provision of posting our own comments by being objective… in case you have not realised, good begets good… many people read these comments so please let’s be serious and indoctrinate one another. God bless you, God bless Zambia

  6. LT please punctuate when you write. Look at this: “Renard was prior to winning the race for The Elephants job in charge of demoted French club Sochaux on a short-term deal that expired in May.”

  7. you are correct, when renard came back to Zambia from angola, many critised him until he showed then what made him back to Zambia (afcon).this is the situation with ivory coast.I have hope in renard,he will just require support .there is no luck in any sport, just the use of skill and technique.
