VICE-President Guy Scott is in Washington DC, United States (US) to attend the US-Africa Summit, which started yesterday and ends tomorrow.

Dr Scott arrived at Washington Dulles International Airport at about 04:00 hours Zambian time yesterday.

The Vice-President was received by Zambia’s Ambassador to the US Palan Mulonda.

Dr Scott is accompanied by his wife, Charlotte, and some senior Government officials.

Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Robert Sichinga, Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba and Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde received Dr Scott.

Dr Scott will be among African heads of State and Government expected to attend the US-Africa Summit at the invitation of US President Barack Obama.

The US-Africa Summit, which is being held under the theme: ‘Investing In the Next Generation’, will allow leaders to consider the decisions and joint actions they intend to take to consolidate Africa’s progress as well as to deepen the relationship between the US and Africa.

The summit will offer an opportunity for high-level engagement between the US and African business leaders representing small and large business, who have demonstrated keen interest in expanding their activities in Zambia.

Also on the cards is the scope of challenges and steps that leaders can take to stem sources of illicit flows, including fighting corruption and promoting transparency and accountability.

Over 50 African heads of State and government are expected to attend the summit.

Among them are South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

    • SATA IS DEAD.
Its unfortunate that they can not sent his hologram to attend functions that s why Scott has to stand in for the dead president.

    • @anderson – kwena walitemwa abasungu iwe. i think you would even follow them to the moon. I have been watching your posts and there is this inner feeling of relief and pleasure you get at the thought that zambia has a white-man/woman president. But it wont happen, sorry to disappoint you. not as long as pan-africanists as my self are still alive. some of you brothers are just white people in a brown skin. You not african, everything in your body wants to be white.

    • @Ndobo, yes tell the LT to start respecting truth.
I was suprised to see Guy Scott among president, I couldn’t miss him because he is more white than those from North Africa. And your Kalaba I didn’t see him any closer to a cameraman.
      But Ba Charlotte basuma….

  1. i’ve met this man before, no substance in conversation just like his boss. He is just a passenger at this conference, showing his face and nodding his head without a proper development trajectory. Ask him when he comes back what Zambia will gain from this, he wont tell you anything new…its sad.

  2. So it is now official…. President Sata has stopped travelling or appearing at all public events. Whatever has happened to our beloved President to suddenly loose taste for such events. Could this be an indication that the man is not in a condition to travel let alone be allowed to open his mouth for fear of the reported dementia… These questions will continue to linger in the majority of Zambians and is now shaking the very faith of the staunch PF supporters. I wonder what VP Scott will say when questioned about why his president did not make it. I only hope that some of the other countries have also sent in their number twos to save mother Zambia from the international community starting to speculate as well which will be bad for our economy.

    • This is good for the president, thumbs up!! I remember when RB was president and how people used to complain about his foreign trips. Some people like Gen Miyanda would even say, “The first 15 minutes on ZNBC is all about MMD and you the person who will be in front of cameras.” i.e RB. Not only Miyanda, but also a lot of bloggers on this site. Today, Ingoshe bamwine is busy working and people are now complaining that they want to see him on TV. For what? If they see the president then what? Viva Sata i like your style of leadership keep it up, come 2016, you still have my vote!! Pa bwatoooooo

  3. Ba Sata is MIA and not showing seriousness in matters of trade, investments and more market share thru AGOA for Zambia’s exports to the U.S.

  4. It’s time Guy Scott was officially recognised as President of the Republic of Zambia. He is doing very well representing Zambia at home and abroad. If Sata is still alive he must be forced out of state house if he won’t do so voluntarily. He has failed and is an embarrassment worldwide.

    • I felt pity on Scot yesterday,he was literary almost crawing when he was walking towards the loby ,as he was being received. The man is tired and old.He needs some rest and a walking stick.Soon it will be scot too being bed reeden.Any way that’s Zambians wanted to put tired and sick guys in power.we are loosing a lot of time for development.

  5. SA and Gracia Machel of all made sure ALL south africans knew Madiba was not well, that the end was coming, no self-pretence, no bull-shit but for the one bit where Zuma tried a “Sitcom” which openly aggrieved Madiba – that is Ubuntu. MCS is a goner and it would do the Psyche of this Nation good to admit this fact and prepare for the next Level. Obama did not invite those heads for hand-outs, Afrika is NOT Israel, this is basically brain-storming, shaking-up the tree, thought provocation: hats-off to the “Ebola presidents”! they stayed home to deal with the scourge facing their people instead of going wining-and-dining, that is the essence of Obama’s Corporate America invite !

    • What does the meeting mean then for Afrika’s presidents? NO HAND-OUTS! Corporate America is at first sight not so attractive but it IS still like carrot-and-stick chinese deceit; at the end of the day the presidents have to use their heads and play win-win mind-games…for the most of them an insurmountable task SINCE they NEVER TRUST AFRICAN TECHNOCRATS…has Dotty taken Fundanga, Musokotwane etc with him for back-office consultancy? I doubt it…Instead, the heads have most likely taken family and sundry on shopping-sprees at tax-payers’ expense…did the White House see to it that such vermin did not get visas, I doubt it! One red-lipped Dwarf Kamimba says the “educated” are a menace and some still don’t get it – the educated of Afrika MUST LIBERATE THE MINDS of their country…

    • hero worshipping america ka? lol, oh please massa, he gona gets us into troubles!!! please forgives us massa!!!! bunch of uncle Toms. so what if he pisses the americans? Mugabe has done it to the british and he has kept his sovereignity. what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his self esteem by putting his tail between his legs and always waiting for instructions from BOSS/ grow up, the world is changed. If it is good for zambia then thats all. we must first love and think Africa, Zambia the everything else!!!

  6. Guy Scot is representing ZAMBIA not ifyo mulelemba at representing Sata!!!. Be real you fellows. Imagine America doesn’t want to deal with Mugabes’ Zimbabwe but it was the same Mugabe who fought relentlessly to ensure Madiba is freed , who today the same Americans want to call the hero !! They want regime change as they did in Iraq ,Libya , Ukraine etc where life today is unliveable. What nonsense is this?? And LT you want to go about parroting the yankee imperialist song. Viva Mugabe – we are nolonger colonies . Period. And freedom for us was never on the Americans’ agenda. Ask the dead Reagan and Thatcher and Kaunda

    • good show kim, good show. absolutely brilliant. am glad you seeing this too. the hyprocisy of the west. And i was so disappointed with the south africans on mandelas funeral, they chose Obama to make the key note address and not an african? why, when it was the american regime just deccades before that also labeled mandela a terrorist when he was fighting for the south africans. lelo, america yawama and the south africans forget everything and ask mr. change we can believe in (america) to make speeches? They could have asked the zambians to make the address, a zimbabwean or any other country that belonged to the frontline states that faced tanks for the liberation of south africa.

    • Lest we forget, Madiba WAS LIBERATED – did he liberate the poor majority of South Africans? NO!! Obama was “allowed” because he is a “blood relation” from Kenya. IF U XPECT AMERICA TO ECONOMICALLY LIBERATE AFRICA IN THE PERSISTING WORLD-ORDER as criticised by Franz Fanon, Malcolm X, Lumumba,Nkrumah, Nasser, Nyerere, Ben Bella name them, then forget it…american foreign-policy is very much a function of corporate america and that will never change…Obama is ONLY shaking the tree, maybe just maybe, our aristocratic kleptocracies will get a kick-start into recognising that Africa’s YOUTH HAVE TO MARCH TO THEIR MOUNTAIN-TOP and behold the promised land of their dreams!

  7. I thot there was going to be a boycott by African presidents for Obama’s failure to invite Mugabe. No patrotism from the money-desperate leaders. Missing Madiba!

  8. PF, should reshuffle. Scott to Foreign Office (in a deputy role). Then appoint a BLACK Zambian women, indigenous I hasten to add. This is a Black and White Mistral Show with all the undertones of colonialism. The appointment of Scott to VP, was discrimination to Indigenous, black Zambian women. We fought for independence hand in hand. The coat of arms show a black Zambian Man and Woman, over our land and resources. President Sata did not think the appoint of Scott through.
A desperate Zambia inviting every white investor to develop our country for us, because we can’t do it ourselves is the message. Unfortunately, these people come to live here and take up ‘high society’ positions giving back tid bits to low class Zambians, who are underpaid. NONPARTISAN PATRIOT.

  9. First Black Zambian (indigenous) woman for President or Vice President in this CENTURY please. That Nalumango ‘chick’ should step forward and become bold in getting out from behind old or young presidential candidates AND TAKE UP THE PRESIDENCY role herself. She was Speaker in the house right? Well why the hell did Sata not appoint her? Correct me if I am wrong she was PF in the past…no? Never mind! Zambian women should see the appointment of Scott as an error nay an affront. White appointees should have come after a Zambian woman took up VP. Non the less lets sort this out. INDIGENOUS ZAMBIAN WOMEN. ARISE AND RECEIVE THE ANOINTMENT OF THIS PROPHECY I PRONOUNCE OVER YOU. I speak it in the NAME OF HIM, JESUS WHO CAN MAKE ALL THINGS POSSIBLE. Therefore now begin to THINK/PLAN…

  10. I was going to add a poem…….

    Zambian Women
    How perfectly created art thou
    To take up the leadership
    Of this great land, Zambia
To grace her mighty Greens and wild resources as a fine jewel
    But only the best
Zambia, Greatly richly Indulged upon by our Generous God
Zambian Women arise and receive your ANOINTMENT
    BRING THIS LAND TO ORDER
    Blessed are you
God has seen your courage, in childbirth pains
in poverty courageously have you been
    To save your progeny
MEN OF ZAMBIA BE OBEDIENT TO THIS PROPHECY
Do all you can to raise your women jewels
to the anointed position on top of Zambia’s crown
    AMEN

  11. @ Patriotic 13 & 14 you are all *****S and daft!!.

@Zagaze 1.3. Its not about loving ba Zungu THE FACT is tht mai Guy is just Brilliant & delivers. If he was YOUNG & happens to stand for PF in 2016 I would VOTE FOR HIM. He is the only outstanding PhD holder in PF who shows wht he is made of & Dr Matibini tries too. The rest are quacks even those fake MD!

Lets get civilised people, Scott is a PURE ZAMBIAN BY BIRTH & up bringing. Let his children come on board I can vote for them COLONIALISM IS OVER !.
