Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Leader Hakainde Hichilema has demanded that government should immediately release the draft constitution before there can be any meeting over its roadmap.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Kitwe today, Mr Hichilema said the opposition parties and members of the public can only dialogue with government on the constitution making process based on the contents of the draft constitution.

Mr Hichilema was reacting to a statement made by Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba during a ZNBC ‘Sunday Interview ‘ programme that government was now ready to dialogue with the opposition on the constitution making process.

Mr Hichilema said at the moment Zambians cannot dialogue because they do not know the contents of the document.

He added that in an event that government is genuinely willing to dialogue on the process, there was need to avail the contents to the public and also to give the process a legal backing that will protect it from manipulation by anyone which he said was currently lacking.

The UPND leader also noted that there was need to put a time frame to the process so that it is done within a specified period.

And Alliance for a Better Zambia (ABZ) president Father Frank Bwalya said there was no need for any dialogue or meeting between government and the opposition on the constitution making process.

Father Bwalya said this is because the Zambian people have already spoken and expressed their views on the constitution through the stakeholders meetings that have been previously held on the process.

The ABZ Leader said the only thing remaining was for government to release the draft constitution and enact a constitution that reflects the aspirations of the Zambian people.

  1. Tho I am your Supporter this TOPIC is annoying me. HH shut up and concentrate on how you will Govern. Bring other interesting topics.

Infact ths constitution is still murky. Learn to stop talking, stalking over and over again.

God loves Zambia. The only pain over ths ISSUE is the MONEY PF has spent BUT the calibre and PROFILE of peoe who where drafting this DOCUMENT is questionable. Honestly wht can come out frm the head of Simon Kabanda !!!

  2. Shut up stupid kabimba .if you think the constitution is not important to Zambians why are you sitting on it ? Tell as why you are using the public act to intimate the opposition . we were with Kaunda the most cruel animal this country has ever produced. Where is he? Zambians are very intelligent when they are quite they are planning the next move. God the Almighty is watching. He loves all of us.

  3. Meanwhile PF government is in Washington discussing real and important issues with Obama. Try a different approach ba HH, otherwise you might be forgotten by next month end

  4. HH is the man! Why is Kabimba wasting every one’s time. People have already said it. They want a new constitution now. No matter the delaying tactics, one day people will get what they want.

  5. PF has reached the end of the corner. They cant lie anymore. Just release the document and avoid further shame. FAKA PRESSURE HH. Liars are feeling the heat

    • @ 7, TO THE CONTRARY, YOU ARE THE ONES FEELING THE HEAT RIGHT NOW WITH YOUR “EX SPOUSE” IN IN PLOT 1. FAKA PRESSURE KABIMBA. HAHAHAHA, WHO IS THAT?

  6. If you are dreaming of having 50+ whatever forget, Zambia does not have the luxury of wasting resources because of election re-runs. Why create a problem which you can handle before hand. We know some parties thrive on tribal groupings. We wasted alot of resources when privatising the parastals.

  7. HH’s real names are Sunny Chintombwa. He was renamed Hakainde by his adopted Father, a Mr. Hichilema. He had a troubled childhood, that is why it is difficlut to understand some of his outbursts.

  8. @ Puttin, bring out the complete background of HH. Yes, we know he had a troubled childhood and this was recently confirmed by himself. Where is his adopted father? Why did he renounce the name ‘Sunny Chintombwa’? Where is his real father Chintombwa? At what stage did he shed off corrosive poverty to become a multimillionaire town fellow? Did he shed off poverty gradually or it was sudden after some crooked transaction? Where was he when Mazoka was alive? Why did he spring up when Mazoka died? Did he make financial contribution to the formation of UPND? Do you think he is the best to drive the wheels of UPND and its ideals? Why has he apparently held the entire Southern Province hostage by promoting Tonga enlightenment at the expense of national unity and integration?

  9. That is a waste of time talk about more important issues , it is boring to be talking about the same dead issue we want ebola prevention now that is the case at hand

  10. HH you are becoming an empty Tin and disrespectful to Zambians… we have told you not one but many times that poor Zambians that voted for PF do not need the constitution. What we need is road, schools, Universities, Hospitals…. not the so useless constitution that will bring 50+. Anyway am expecting too much from you simpleton you can’t understand this cause you are too educated for Zambians to understand you. All the best in your mediocre world.

  11. @ Umibemba Inkonko, i have data about his childhood and not how acquired wealth during privitisation of mines. i will post you detailed account about his childhood
