Kitwe’s Kwacha and Kamitondo townships are in danger of a diseases out break as the two townships have been hit by a critical water shortage for three weeks.
And residents talked to have called on area MPs to intervene and help them have water which has been a problem for over a year but has worsened in the past three months.
Solsa Banda a Kwacha resident said the township has had no water for the past two weeks and has accused the water utility company of not doing anything to rectify the problem.
Mr. Banda also accuses area MP Boniface Mutale of not helping the residents as complaints and pleas for help have fallen on deaf ears.
“We are in danger of having a disease outbreak here because we don’t have water; we have had no water for a long time, some houses have no pit latrines hence water shortage has created problems for some families.
“We have been complaining about this problem for a long time but no one seems to take us seriously, Nkana water is not doing anything tangible about the problem and the MP is also not helping us.
“We are asking these people to work on the problem because sometimes we are going for work without bathing and our children and women are spending more time looking for water,” said Mr. Banda.
And in Kamitondo compound resident are being saved with a water bauser once a day so as to help alleviate the problem.
The resident have also called on their area MP Luxon Kazabu to help them by engaging the water utility company on their behalf.
The residents whose homes were connected to the main sewer line two years noted that there was no point in bringing flushing toilets to their homes if they did not have access to running water.

THESE MPs WILL REGRET IN 2016. EVEN IN CHAMBOLI TOWNSHIP PEOPLE HAVE NEVER SEEN THE DROP OF WATER 3/4 OF THE TOWNSHIP. WHAT A SHAME TO DEMOCRACY. WE SHALL SEE WHO WILL VOTE FOR THEM. NOW PEOPLE HAVE KNOWN WHO TO VOTE FOR ITS NOT ABOUT THE PARTY ANY MORE BUT ABOUT THE CHARACTER OF AN INDIVIDUAL. MOST OF THESE CHAPS WERE JUST CLIMBING ON PRESIDENT’S PARTY AND MANAGED TO WIN COZ OF HIM. BUT NOW ITS TIME TO SEE WHO CAN WIN.
Ba Doudi (I like this name) Zambians have a short memory span. Come 2016 these MPs will come with a few gifts and promises of how they will solve these problems and they will vote them into power again. Trust me on this one. Y do you think they say the uneducated voted for them? It’s for this very reason that they easily dupe them while they keep enjoying bonuses, salary increases, living at lodges, driving government cars and all kinds of things.

He is busy talking for the Jerrabos for the black mountain yet people do not have such important commodities. Sewer lines are constantly blocked, HE MUST be very SILLY MP. But he will kiss byee in 2016.
How does can Kazabu come in when it’s Bornface Mutale,the Kwacha MP.By the way they are all Power failure mps. Kwacha is hardly hit.I think NWSC management has failed and authorities must purge them all.They are driving good vehicle but offering poor services.Kalulushi residents are being supplied with poor quality of water and it doesn’t even concern them as long as their fat salaries are paid.This syndrome of keeping incompetent people in high positions must come to end as there a lot of young and energetic people to take up the positions.
