Sewe throw down the gauntlet at Nkana

Share

Nkana must beat Sewe Sport on August 23 in Abidjan after the Cote d’Ivoire club shocked hosts Etoile du Sahel in Sousse on Saturday night.

Sewe stunned Etoile 1-0 away in Tunisia to step-up a dramatic photo finish in Group B in a fortnights time.

The Cote d’Ivoire secured the vital away win through their Niger striker Idrissa Halidou in the 52nd minute to lift themfrom the bottom of Group B to third place.

Etoile were unfortunate not to pick up at least a point on the night when defender Alaya Brigui’s shot came off the post in the 60th minute.

The status in Group B now looks like this; Al Ahly lead on eight points, Nkana are second on seven, Sewe swap places with Etoile on six and five points respectively.

The final games will see Sewe host Nkana while Etoile face the unenviable trip to Cairo to try and shock the eight-time African club champions.
