President Michael Sata will stay away from the forthcoming SADC summit to be held in the Zimbabwean resort town of Victoria Falls.

Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba announced that President Sata has since appointed him to represent Zambia at the annual summit.

Mr Kalaba said this on Let the People Talk radio programme on Radio Phoenix adding that President Sata has the right to delegate any member of cabinet to represent him at international gatherings.
He said there is nothing irregular about President Sata missing some international engagement adding that it actually works as a cost saving measure.

The Foreign Affairs Minister has also revealed that President Sata has even delegated someone else to attend an international summit in Vienna, Austria in September.

“It is also good when the President does not travel a lot because the cost associated with presidential trips is colossal. So Zambians should infact be happy that the PF Government is saving some money by having President Sata delegate some of these functions to the Vice President and Ministers,” Mr Kalaba explained.

He also maintained that Zambia is held in high esteem by the international community judging by the way people speak highly of Zambia.

Mr Kalaba also stated that the lack of state visits since 2011 does not translate mean that Zambia’s diplomatic credentials are falling.

“It is incorrect to state that since we are not receiving visitors then our credentials are weak. We still have an impeccable record in human rights and promotion of people’s freedoms. You can just see how the Vice President His Honour Dr Scott was arranged to sit close to President Obama at the US Africa summit dinner at the White House, such things don’t just happen if you are not good on human rights,” he said.

    • You call this news ? You the same people that complains when a president moves too much giving them names like Kamwendo Munjila.Let the man rest.He is doing this for the betterment of Zambia

    • @euroa what do you want him to rest from? According to his george chella he is fit and according to guy scott he is very well.So basically the President is loafing at state house.how many of you can rest during office hours?Lucky for him he can do that and still keep his job.

    • @jo
That office brings with it stress. So he basically needs that rest from stress instead of him bringing more pressure pressure himself. He is not getting younger mind you ?

    • So Zambians should in fact be happy that the PF Government is saving some money by having President Sata delegate some of these functions to the Vice President and Ministers!!!!!

Stop paying him his salary WITH THREE INCREASES for not doing the job he is supposed to do! Cancel his “medical TOURISM” trips and he can go to UTH.

THAT will save Zambians some money!!!!!!!!!!!

      More PF uBUFI!!!!

    • surely even the most ardent PF supporter should see that there is something wrong here. Not to critisize or anything, but comeon! This unorthodox behaviour and the grueling explanations by the govt is indubitably worrying. So dont blame us when we speculate, its the president and his handlers doing!
Takwaba! As a pan africanist,i expect the president to attend to our matters at least when the issues discussed were about africa(SADC) and convened by africans.Any normal head of state loving his country cannot miss such events.Sure, you can miss ifya bena Barack, but not ifyesu as africans.Am extremely disappointed and as a citizen of this country i demand answers from the president and not Chellah or Kalaba. You let us down old man Sata!all your venom is gone, just the skin remains to be shed

    • Fit and well Sata missing SADC meeting, me i dont believe, bufi!!!,,,,, i will wait for pictures of Sata sitting next to Magabe at SADC meeting to be posted on facebook,,, then i will believe

    • Kalaba is a useful 1di0t! Last time we had Kennedy Sakeni who couldnt flinch while telling a lie. We have this one, another product of Luapula province, who finds it ok to lie to the nation that his master is fine and working. If he is well, for a man who enjoys being in the lime light, how come now he prefers being in his foxhole. You will all be answeable and you will look very stupid and useless. Abakalamba ubufi! And you call yourself a transparent government? Shame!

    • Ba Kalaba, landenifyi ichishika. what is going on with our leader, it is not right to be sending representative all the time.

    • @1.4 Europa – Is Sata the first person to be a President or Head of State in the world? Why should he be the only one to need rest for so long? And why does he need to rest when the PIG (Party and It’s Government) says he’s fit and healthy and hard at work?
We know they are hiding him cause he can cause national embarrassment with his demented behavior as he has been doing of late. As for you, you can carry on with your denial but just like the Ostrich, just because your head is in the sand and you can’t see the lion does not mean he is not there.

    • I agree he needs to rest. Being a d!ck and an a$$hole simultaneously can be pretty stressful. And to think just the other week a bunch of PF monkeys were jumping up and down screaming ‘He is back!’ after seeing his skinny a$$ swear in some chap. Where the fcuk is your president now you morons?

    • Ok Bane ndelyumfwila fye Mubwalwa ati kanshi kapoko used to sponsor Ba PF, and he was told to go under ground and keep quite, his case was buried by Nebuchadnezzar ?
Yaba bane ne Mbawa kuti yateka pa Zed. Nebuchadnezzar is a worst political Tsunami that has hit Zambia.

    • Folks
I have told you time and again that SATA DIED IN JUNE.

SATA is six feet under or embalmed and tucked away some where.

Zambia has no president . A cartel has taken charge of running the country. Even if a brave soldier would storm Nkwazi with his troops tonight he would not find Sata alive.

No one has seen Sata including Guy Scott since he was sneaked out in June last year.

    • @ Ba Sata if you can’t resign like Pope Benedict did, then just decide something else.
“Everybody wants to go to heaven, but none wants to die….”

    • A few weeks back I bet with my finger If Zambians are going see Sata in public again.

The last time you all saw Sata, that was it. You will never see Sata again.

    • Mr Harry Kalaba, YOU HAVE JUST HIT THE NAIL ON IT’S HEAD. MORE OFTEN WE HEAR PRESIDENTS SENDING THEIR REPRESENTATIVES. WHY NOT SATA? IN FACT IT’S COST EFFECTIVE AND AT THE SAME TIME CAPACITY BUILDING. “lack of state visits since 2011 does not translate mean that Zambia’s diplomatic credentials are falling.” THIS IS ALSO COST EFFECTIVE THROUGH NONE SECURITY RE-ENFORCEMENT. “You can just see how the Vice President His Honour Dr Scott was arranged to sit close to President Obama at the US Africa summit dinner at the White House, such things don’t just happen if you are not good on human rights,”” VERY TRUE Mr KALABA. IT IS JUST BITTERNESS FROM OTHER QUARTERS.

    • Guy Scott is quoted as saying that his attending the African summit recently was agreed upon a long time ago and that president Sata was to attend the UN annual general meeting. I am waiting for this to happen. if it doesn’t, then Sata is not fit at all!

    • We are wasting taxpayer’s money on this deadwood in State House….a parrot can do better than him being paid in nuts.
Please Sata enough of this step down you selfish old man!!

  1. Its not a big brainer there. Why forcing matters when you can as well delegate ? Nice decision from the president. Save your energy for the development of Zambia. Long live king Cobra.

    • @jo
No i`m a realist, while you are a pessimist. These are two different schools of thought. Reason why you can`t see sense in my posts.

    • @Saulosi,
All I can say is that you are unbelievably brainwashed for your failure to see the crimes Sata and his equally brainwashed cabinet are committing against the people of Zambia. Lies, lies and more lies at all times.

    • @Saulosi, you only make sense when you talk about matters pertaining to your profession. When it comes to politics, your eyes conviniently cease to percieve or is it that your brain ceases and fails to compute even the basic steps in the software in your brain. You have good hardware, you have demostrated it in the past, but I think we need to upgrade that software to a multitasking, multithreaded OS and 64bit. That single threaded OS, which is optimised to run PF jobs isn’t utilizing all that extra memory (RAM) you have. Your OS (16 bit) is only letting you access under 1GB of memory. Just my observations.

    • @ Mfumu
Matters pertaining to my profession ? Crap ! Anyway i know where you are coming from. It is not easy for you to agree with me because of our different political affiliations. It is just human nature working in you my friend. The same applies to The London Eye. The funny thing with politics is that everyone thinks only his or her opinion is the absolute truth and must be a standard to measure others. Us humans are a special breed not so ?

    • My god saulosi don’t you get tired of using the same bullsh!t argument? This tells me you do not have the brains to convincingly argue a matter at hand. You sound like a bloody recording on default. Try and come up with new stuff please because you have worn that kama argument to the bone and that makes you an extremely boring person to have a debate with. PF cadres are brain dead.

    • @Saulosi,
Indeed people are entitled to their own opinion, but not to their foolishness. At some point in your narrow thinking you should reason with the majority, most who are nonpartisan. Your support for crap is mind boggling. Even some of Sata’s relatives can see there is something very wrong here. You, on the other hand have decided to act like a moron. You are indeed a thick brick.

    • @Saulosi,
In almost all your blogs you keep repeating that ‘in politics everyone thinks only his or her opinion is the truth’. The truth can never be suppressed. I can give you a long list of embarrassing lies told by Sata and his ministers in the past 6 weeks starting with the lie about wooing Israeli investors and meeting the former Israeli president and I can go on and on and in fact you know like every Zambian does the lies that have become the norm in the Sata administration.

    • @Saulosi
Well said. It takes an intelligent person to realize that people can’t all share the same opinion.Reason why we have different political party’s in the world it is because everyone doesn’t share the same ideology. These as$holes insulting you for your opinion needs a brain transplant. Why should they think only what they think makes sense or more politically correct? Grow up people and accept diverse views.

    • Sata’s suffering is actually a punishment for coming into plot 1 through lies and deceit. He won’t enjoy his presidency until his demise. You can’t lie to God’s people and go scot free. It doesn’t work like that.

    • Ba Wiseman, did you just discover Lusakatimes? Saulosi says the same sh!t all the time and am thinking if you have been around here as long as he has and can still praise him based on his stale rebuttal, then you’re as brain dead as he is.

    • I don’t understand these continued cat fights and ad hominem attacks. Can’t we just agree to disagree across the political divide? We are all Zambians at the end of the day, albeit with individual choices as to political affiliation. Please can we put an end to these personal attacks and discuss issues for the betterment of Zambia? It’s amazing how many people think their way is both the only way and the universe’s way.

    • @Dudelove
I don’t care if he says the sane or not.The bottom line is he is entitled to his opinion.Get that in your thick head.Get a life.

    • Oh and another thing, if the whole world reasoned like you Saulosi with regards different views, do you realise that things like the Doha debates would be pointless? Are you that thick? Debates whether on international level or at secondary school are based on arguing different views, point by point not that nonsense you bring here and being cheered on by simpletons like ba Wiseman. Goodness!!

    • Zambians and their immaturity.Waikuta ubwali nachibwabwa and you want to boss around everyone with diverse views.Atase !

    • @Dudelove,
You’re spot on but it won’t make any sense to people who have known nothing in their lives except lies. it is no wonder that Zambia finds itself in a dilemma because the dodgy PF government was founded on lies and they unashamedly continue to thrive on nothing but lies and their cronies are so blinded to see the naked facts.

    • I think the good reputation and perception of Zambia is alligned with the PEOPLE, not GOV. So when Kalaba thinks people are actually bein positive about Zambia, its the people not the government that they are referring to. In international circles, this government is a JOKE. As for saving money…thats a rubbish excuse. Where is our saviour now?

    • The maturity level test scores are:-
      The LondonEye:50%
      Wiseman:90%
      Dudelove:40%
      Saulosi:99%
NB: These tests took into consideration the bloggers choice of words, understanding of the opponents argument, use of emotion and mutual respect.

    • @Test scores;
What maturity score do you give yourself and also put Sata to a lie detector and tell us the results.

    • LET THE F00LS LIE WITH THEIR BITTERNESS . MICHAEL SATA IS MORE CONCERNED WITH WORK AT HOME- BUILDING ROADS, HOSPITALS, NEW AIRPORTS, RAILWAY LINE, SCHOOLS/COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES AND MANY MORE THAN JOLY RIDES OVERSEAS OR ABROAD WHICH EVEN COME WITH COSTS IN TERMS OF LODGING SECURITY, ALLOWANCES, ETC.
MEANWHILE, VISIT HIS OFFICE AND COME AND CUT MY FINGER IF YOU ARE EVER GOING TO FIND ANY PAPER WORK IN THE PENDING TRAY ON MICHAEL SATA’S DESK. HE IS A WORK HORSE. YOU WONT FIND ANY PENDING JOB AND HE CHECKS EVERY PAPER WORK THOROUGHLY, BEFORE SIGNING IT AWAY. JUST LEAVE SATA ALONE YOU BITTER CHAPS.

    • Sata’s suffering is actually a punishment for coming into plot 1 through lies and deceit. He won’t enjoy his presidency until his demise. You can’t lie to God’s people and go scot free. It doesn’t work like that.

  2. “…We still have an impeccable record in human rights and promotion of people’s freedoms…”
It is amazing that Minister of Foreign Affairs is ignorant what FREEDOM means after almost 50 years of independence.

  3. I call upon the President HE Sata 2 call for a presidential bye election in 90 days. Maybe ni Michael Sat….alikala. Ubulwele bwa Mfumu…………

  4. Mr Minister. You were not the Zambians at the US Summit. The sitting arrangement at the US State Department was set in alphabetical order. Why do think Scott was next to Museveni. Also the absence of Zim placed Zed even closer to the host. It’s not based on ranking in human rights. Do not tell lies to the country.

    • you should have explained what alphabetical order means and the implication to seating arrangements on a round table. Chances are that a lot of kaponyas on this site will miss the boat are high.

    • Interesting. If the sitting arrangement is at a round table, and Z is the last letter, of course U (Uganda) will be close to United States of America and there are only four letters between U and Z which obviously would make Zambia sit close to the USA. That was too hard for Kalaba to figure out. What impeccable human rights record do we have to boast about when journalists are looked up willy-nilly. The opposition can not freely assemble. Freedom of Information Bill is being avoided just as the discussion of the constitution being stiffled. Looks like the years Kalaba spent at the seminary never taught him a thing on the corroding effects of lying.

    • Very good point Economic Manager. Its beyond me for a person of Kalaba’s stature to try and fool the Zambian people into thinking that the closer one sat to Obama the better governed the country was. If I said that to my four year old, she would look at me and say, “that does not even make any sense”. Leaders need to start taking their roles very seriously and think through their arguments before they make them. It is pitiful.

    • LT, I had no idea that you had began to censor words like “fool” even when they are used in a non-derogatory manner.

    • Ok, this is becoming annoying. LT will not let me use the word F00L on their site, unbelievable..

    • I am glad to note that there are still some great minds joining LT like Economic Manager as I was contemplating on leaving for good. How can a minister instigate that the Barak Obama administration would sit delegates in the order of their human rights record? What kind of bull is this? It’s sad and absolutely unacceptable for a minister to allude to such nonsense. I wish the opposition would summon the US government to come out and refute such balantant lies by this PF government. What kind of people are we? In Europe, such wild statements would not go unchallenged even in the country where Saulosi lives at the moment – such a statement would be reason enough for a minister to be made to apologise and resign his position. Then again you have people applauding these blatant lies !!!

  5. Ilifye bwino.Umuntu kutuma bakabilo bakwe.Mwandi Sata tusha, ngachinshi wingalapitanina ? Wisakamana ifi ifipumbu filelanda ifyamuselu pali iwe.Nakalebalika

  6. I also hope he will delegate his next ‘medical tourism’ 2 the minister of health and surely Mr Kalaba there will be nothing wrong

  7. Lets all beleive him people, Sata is fit but he is only delegating his duties, lol, this Ka chap thinks Zambians are children to be told such liez, te?

  8. When will this government of liars ever come clean? For how long will you peddle such blatant lies? Why is a fit, talkative Sata skipping all engagements requiring his presence? Why should he delegate his duties to muppets like Kalaba as if they are the ones we voted to be Republican President? What cost serving measures are these muppets talking about? Sata is being paid for loitering in State House doing nothing tangible yet they talk of “cost serving”. If they are serious about cost serving, Sata should not be paid his salary and Muppets like Kalaba and his kind in Parliament should demand for increased perks.

  9. Confusion rocks UPND in SOLWEZI central parliamentary nominations where two UPND Candidates are fighting on who should stand.
more news will come on your way after sometime.

    • Don’t worry your empty little head about UPND my friend. Unlike your party, UPND is littered with extremely educated people and they will reach an amicable solution without anyone’s head being split open with a Panga. We would not want to copy PF’s methods of resolving problems.

  10. Its clear the president is sick.Very sick indeed. These people are just decampaigning themselves with their lies.Thez no malice here, the man is gone(sick)

  11. PF GOVT IS A “BOBBY EAST” GOVT. They have big “Weapons” but don’t know how to satisfy the Zambians. The weapon keeps losing power during the act. kekekeke

  12. Living like this with statements that don’t make sense and some people chose to act dum like all is ok. Kuti limbi balichaya silent coup.

  13. Yes, I am happy that HEMCS has heard my plea that he should not appear in public until next year so that the haters die of heart attacks.

Please Mr Sata sir, don’t show yourself in public until two or three haters die of grudge and heart attacks. Let them insult and insinuate but just laugh at them as they burry their big heads in shame that you are still living. They wish you dead not knowing that they can die first. Untamed creatures they are …shame on them.

    • While u hide at state house your excellence, the opposition will go full throwttle campaining. As result, Panga Family/Paya Farmer will continue losing bye-elections ….

    • Ati hiding , where.

SATA IS DEAD. HE DIED IN JUNE.

IF another captian solo would storm state house and search, Sata is not alive.

    • Yaba….it’s truth hurts (that’s the saying) or Truth hater (which is what you are)….get it right sonny. And just because your father hid from you, you expect us to accept this person to keep ichidunu. I wouldn’t be surprised if FACE/OFF the movie sued for copy rights infringement in the near future.

  14. Why have a fossil in statehouse? We need a functioning president. Monuments should be taken to the museum. Period. Since then did state house turn into a resume?

  15. You don’t have to be TB Joshua to forecast accurately that Sata will not go to Mangango, he won’t open parliament and most importantly we will never again see him on TV and radio. In retrospect this is not bad at all. At least the shame he heaped on Zambia by his uncouth and undiplomatic public utterances are no more. Let him enjoy his unsanctioned holiday. I would actually pay him to keep hiding until 2016.

  16. Mr Kalaba, how hard is it to tell a simple truth? Is it so difficult to say, something to the effect, “the president is not feeling well, would like to reduce on strenuous engagements, he is delegating to some minister……”

  17. LT…Do you have an Editor? Kindly employ me, I have lamentably failed to read the whole story. GRAMMAR!
“…has also revealed that President Sata has even delegated…” I am embarrassed to say the least.. Nangu ni reported speech.

    • Proudly Zambia you seem to have a problem with Zambian English,do you want Zambians to speak like Queen Elizabeth? Low self esteem is not befitting you.

    • You have just hit a bull’s eye just there.

I have no other way to explain Sata ‘s absence apart from the fact that he is dead.

SATA DIED IN JUNE . Burial date to be decided by PF MCC when they have consolidated power and found his successor.

  18. Nangu in delegation yachila, kateka ukulwala te Cheni iyo. Kwati inkama shapitilila kuli ubu buteko. If the president is fit and working, what is he working on that keeps him from attending events and speaking publicly? Ka press conference at least apa. Nga mwatweba ati the president is sick and will do office work, we will understand.

  19. Does Kalaba think all Zambians have a child’s mind? And some Bloggers with a child’s mind are busy nodding and praising Kalaba for the Lie of cost-saving and powers of delegation. Do you think we can go forward as a country with people like some bloggers who cannot think through what they hear or read????

  20. Kaunda ruled for 27 solid years he never went on sick leave. Sata has not ruled even to three years you are saying he Needs bed rest. Something is fishy about his Absence. At least his audicity would done Zambians good. Maybe is not audible anymore God may have arrested him like he did to Zechariah when didnt believe what the Angel told him. Remember he Appoints and he demotes, that the Mighty God we save

  21. @Dudelove
    go to hell u demon,
you are such a shalow and an empty litre with too much dust in your head hinderling your brain from thinking that not even your so called Education will save your party from exiting in 2016.hence intimidating me with your usless education which u cant even use to save your party from dwindling.moreover which educated ar u preaching to me about? to hell with your usless pieces of paper my friend.
ama degrees ya pakanwa but practically nothing to point at even a grade seven failure is beter off.
next time mind your language you stinking tribalist.

  22. Its only sata ‘s family that can save the country at this stage, king cobra is not of sound mind ,he doesn’t know what’s going on in his life,he is lifeless.this is patriotism to your country come in,the brave family member has to tell the nation the truth.at the current stage mcs is history.Zambians are docile, this how some cultures retards development.

    • Iwe, that is personal to holder. It keeps the man going; otherwise what can he live for? We call it ‘mashangela’!

  23. “…He said there is nothing irregular about President Sata missing some international engagement adding that it actually works as a cost saving measure…..”.

Now come on Hon Kalaba, surely you can do better than that given that you are not one of Kabimba’s illiterate cadres, or are you?
Since when did you think of cost saving? Just look at how much money you have wasted on the constitution making process, unnecessary by-elections, unnecessary court litigations, Judge Chikopa, commissions of inquiry etc etc etc etc etc etc and others which have not yet come to light…..

  24. Sata’s predicament is one between Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia & Bingu wa Mutharika of Malawi. Meles disappeared from the public only to turn out dead in Belgium. Mutharila over exerted himself conjugally over a female MP, bursting his heart when ejaculating & dying instantly. However, his goons refused he was dead & 48 hours later, they were still busy trying to resurrect him, in the process bursting four of his ribs. They then flew him to Pretoria for a “second opinion”, the chap arriving at Waterkloof Airport already in an advanced state of decomposition. This is what awaits Sata.

  25. Man of action is actually man of inaction! Let him take an early retirement or face impeachment. These are not the kind of games to play as head of state. If he is sick, he needs to come out clean that he is. Otherwise, how long is he going to keep the whole nation guessing?

    • Otherwise, let him extend the hide through 2016. Let him continue hiding. He must not resurface on some obscure corner of Zambia to canvass for votes. Hope not even the craziest will cast votes for this lying president. He must be blacklisted once and for all. He has been playing the worst game ever by any sitting Zambian president. Must politicians be allowed to continue lying with impunity? Won’t such a legacy hurt Zambia in the end?

  26. He is delegating all unimportant duties to VP and ministers. The most important recent visit was to Israel when he sneaked through the back door, (doing a “don’t kubeba” on the presidential guard), for a ‘meeting’ with that country’s absent and outgoing head. We heard how he waited for the host’s return from Sheba Hospital ‘Hotel’ (probably as another cost saving measure).
That very important engagement he could not delegate……….

  27. That kind of “saving money” is actually even more costly, there are decisions that he might need to make in his capacity if present and if present again he might influence certain waives that might be more beneficial as compared to the cost that would be in incurred. Actually leadership is all about decision making decisions!

  28. Zambia once had a crying president. Then came along a thieving one. This one is clearing a lying president and possibly the most abhorrent of all. It intrigues me that they are all of the same stock.

  29. The crying president used to call us names we were not accustomed to, such as STPD IDOTS, STPD IDOTS! By this he meant to scare us so he could stay in power for life! We called time-out on him. He left a sad man.

The thieving president with his band of NICHEKELO thieves, wanted to change the rules so he could extend his stay in office. We ruled him off-side. He left a defeated guy.

The lying president and his DONCHI KU BEBA appears to have a different strategy. He wants to sleep his way out of trouble. No alarm clocks and the like. Meanwhile, smart fellow George Chellah must continue to hoodwink us with fake postings on an infamous Facebook page. But I think the lying president has done his share of miscalculation. He is on his way out too. How sad.

    • @Mei Matungu

Where did they all hail from ie.

      – the crying president, thieving president, the cheating president?

And what of the ‘integrity president – SC LP Mwanawasa?

The first bunch were and are still an unmitigated disaster. The breath of fresh air was wakuminshesu LPM.

Now therefore, why go back to the congolese?! Their track record is there for all to see

    • @Siamanengo: Yes, LPM was uniquely different. Zambians cannot afford to be getting presidents from the same village. This is backfiring.

    • The crying president, the thieving president and now the lying and sleeping president, all seem to have suckled from the same monkey teats! It is shameful and disgusting.

  30. We don’t want another RB who is busy flying around the world making money through allowances! Thank you Mr President for delegating. VIVA SATA VIVA PF

    • @NakuluMushota

If Sata cannot reach Livingstone (Vic Falls town is across the river), then ZED has a huge problem. It is like a patient who can no longer make it to the sitting room to be seen by well wishers.

Stop the other crap of allowances….you North congolese professional or should I say inborn cheats, deceivers, liars. The rest of Zambia (other than the North) are not small monkeys to be cheated like so?

  31. This guy missed the US-Africa summit, now he’s missing the SADC summit as well. What kind of a head of state do we have exactly? If being president means I can sit at home all day then I might as well run for the next election too. To be fair it’s much better that Scott represented us in washington otherwise Sata would have just gone around insulting all the officials there and cracking colonial jokes. It’s way out his league anyway we need some young blood for the next president.
