Share

The Humans Rights Commission (HRC) says it will soon establish if there was any human rights violation during the recent apprehension of the illegal Somali immigrants in Chaisa Compound.

Humans Rights Commission principal information officer Simon Mulupi said the commission is committed to promoting legality in any nation.

“It is the duty of the police to maintain law and order in the country and to ensure that the human rights of every individual are respected,” He said.

ZANIS reports that the Humans Rights Commission principal information officer said this in a telephone interview in Lusaka yesterday.

Yesterday , a combined team of the Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission ,Immigration Officers and other security wings raided Chaisa compound in the heart of the Capital where they apprehended and arrested hundreds of suspected illegal immigrants .

Meanwhile, The Immigration Department said it will provide a number of screening processes to confirm if those apprehended are in possession of legal documents.

Immigration Department public relations officer Nshinka Namati has since appealed to individuals harbouring illegal immigrants to desist from such vices because it is a serious offence.

  2. @ Wazabanga, what xenophobia? Illegal immigrants have to be flushed out. By raising eyebrows over this security exercise, you must be an illegal immigrant yourself. Your blog name sounds Mobutush. You must be from Congo DR. Illegal immigrants are the ones perpetrating crime in Zambia. Chaisa compound is a haven of Somali illegal immigrants. Alshabab sympathisers could be among these illegal immigrants. Screen them and separate sheep from wolf.

    • @Umumbemba Inkoko, I am very much Zedian. In fact I don’t need to prove myself as it’s pointless as you will never know me nor will I know who you are. So just know that I am very much Zambians even more than you.
As for my blog name, anyone can use any name. I chose this name because my neighbour used to be a Congolese and told me a lot about Mobutu and his reign. They have since left Zambia for Belgium some years ago. So umuntu ni MM Le Grand Patron Wa Zabanga.

    • Of course illegals have to be flushed out and deported for state security reasons, but not all foreigners are illegals.

  3. Human rights are indeed needed in Zambia , but screening these guys is a very plus measure. Do not be blind Zambians, these guys may be the al-shabab in Somalia waiting for the right time to strike Zambia. That’s how they have inflicted terrible pain on Kenya a country that welcomed them with both hands.

Please do not hesitate to sent away those who have no proper documentation. The guys are coming with filth money of the pirates which they are flushing in Zambia.

We say ZP keep it up and do not listen to this Human right fimo fimo .

  4. This smiling at everyone and being too friendly with strangers coupled with extremely corrupt people kuma borders and immigration whatever is the cause of this avalanche of illegal immigrants into the country. I support this declaration that people move with IDs at ALL times.

  5. This is the same Human Rights Commission that refused to investigate the killing of Lozis in 2011. The !diot Chairperson Pixie Kasonde Yangailo even had the audacity to proclaim the victims as criminals. Now it is official: Illegal Somali immigrants have more rights than Lozis!

  6. i agree tht pple visit countries for different reasons, truly sum are dangerous bt hw wld u feel if other countries start raiding n deporting zambians?
