THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says the Patriotic Front’s (PF’s) application in the Supreme Court to stay the Zambezi West by-election cannot stop the election from proceeding.

On Tuesday, PF Zambezi West losing candidate Christabel Ngimbu asked the Supreme Court to stay the by-election until determination of an appeal against the judgment which allowed former member of Parliament Charles Kakoma.

But ECZ public relations manage Cris Akufuna said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that an application cannot stop the election from proceeding but the commission can halt the poll if the Supreme Court orders for them to be stayed.

“We are going ahead with the election because what compels is the ruling of the court and what is in court at the moment is just an application. So that does affect us,” Mr Akufuna said.

  1. Great move ba ECZ , why should one person by the name of Charity give us problems.
Work well done lets build the Democracy of ths Nation. It pains alot to see how ALMOST in ALL the Institutions some PF maggots r trying to DESTROY.

I ve NO qualms with my Old Man Sata, he is TIRED & let him rest since I was 3yrs Old ve been hearing of him. We need a new crop now! WE STILL LOVE HIM he is OUR GRANDPA.

    Viva New Blood Viva UPND

    GOD LOVE ZAMBIA !

  2. Yep yep…hoorrrayyy!!!!! Well done ECZ, wina aza lila. Christabel Ngimbu must be shltting in her pants after hearing about this ECZ statement!

  3. It appears to me that no matter what they do, PF have lost this battle. Why don’t they just give up and explore other avenues? Anyway, we understand. I’m told one Wynter Munacaambwa Kabimba is the Secretary General and as such Chief Executive Officer of the party. What do you expect?

  4. Now that Sata – feared man – is inactive, different government-controlled institutions can stand their ground against PF attempts to manipulate them, although a few others are still afraid just in case Sata makes a come-back.

  5. Suntwe indeed you are a suntwe who does not reason. Why are u insulting Christabel.U are the same corrupt chaps making this country go backwards due to corruption. Why are you supporting corruption ? Ask pipo in Zambezi…..Christabel commands massive support better than Kakoma.

    • if she indeed commands massive support why is she wasting time and money to block him from standing? And remind us what sort of corruption this Kakoma is being crucified for? Oh yes he installed a phone at a secondary school for use by students!

    • @Goncalves

Exactly my thoughts my bro. She is scared of UPND just like the whole PF shaken by the presence of UPND on the ground.

      PF play it fair.

    • @Mr Joel

Then let the people decide instead of barring and insisting on corruption when the courts have ruled. Why weren’t those corruption cases brought before the courts of law then?

We have to respect the courts if we have to be fair. We will not decide just because of personal opinion or shall we? We don’t know Ben nor Christabel those who know them must be given a chance to vote for the leader of their choice.

At this moment I would urge the monitors to have an eagles eye to make sure no candidate is disadvantaged by vote buying! Candidates will try anything they want , but its up to us to document all evidence of malpractice.

  6. Joel is correct…whether Kakoma is allowed or not he cant win here. For 15 years no development and he is now nicknamed’ used oil’.We are ready to work with the ruling Party which can give us a bridge to facilitate mining of the oil, good roads, schools, clinics etc.No amount of cow dung corruption will ever change our thinking again.

  7. Why cant we set up what could be called as Electoral Corruption of Zambia to be an organ for those who support electoral malpractices ? Its like a good number of Zambians are pro corruption.Very shameful indeed.

  8. Both PF and I Bwana Mkubwa seriously smell a 6 – 0 massacre that’s why we are panicking. 1 – 0 in Mangango and 5 – 0 in September.

    Eeeish!!!!!!

    • The forthcoming loss in Mangango…will be the *beginning of the end*. Most ordinary PF members will realize that PF actually died a long time ago when they failed to deliver their promises and when they became the most corrupt government in Zambia’s history. And so these PF members will start defecting to UPND en-masse.

    • Who is Christabel Ngimbu? Ask Frank Mutubila how he chased her from the Zambian Mission in Italy because of incompetency. Reports were written by equally an ill iquiped spouse to the disgust of Mutubila. She is ashamed of going to Zambezi after showing off over the villagers. Today she wants to go back and foo them. Let her explain what happened in Italy. The level of literacy is very low. We need people of high caliber like Mr Kakoma.

  9. Looks like the fear of the Cobra is gone when state institutions stand their ground in the face threats by ruling party functionaries. This tells a big story about what people think is state of Sata, i.e. they know he’s not coming back.
