Government wishes to congratulate the people of Mangango for choosing to work with the ruling party in developing their constituency.
Chief government spokesperson Joseph Katema says by electing the PF candidate, the people of Mangango have shown that they are happy and satisfied with the PF’s programmes, policies and projects aimed at improving their well being.
Dr. Katema says the victory signifies the trust and commitment the people of Mangango have in the PF Government.
The people of Mangango have further shown that they value good leadership and detest opportunistic and self- centred leadership, says the spokesperson.
“ Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate the political parties that took part in the by-election. This is a sign of Zambia’s flourishing and competitive democracy, “ he said.
Dr. Katema, who is also Information and Broadcasting minister says this in a statement realized in Lusaka, this evening.
PF has scoped Mangango seat after getting 2,971 votes, UPND 2,336, ADD 611, UNIP 377, MMD 147, FRP 29 from 32 poling stations out of 33 polling stations.
PF government must thank back the people of Mangango by creating Kafue Province as the promised if PF takes the Mangango seat in Senior Chief Mwene Mutondo’s area of the Nkoya people so that the issues in the current Western Province can be effectively dealt with in a peaceful and democratic way.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the smart people of Mangango for voting for UNIP’s candidate Janet Chingumbe in the fourth position beating the MMD who actually presided over this seat before nullification.
We UNIPists are still going strong, we just need to change our leadership to someone more inspiring, innovative with a high level of clairvoyance. Whoever that person may be, I will fully back and support him/her with the best of my abilities.

i believe the Nkoya dislike of the litunga and the lozis generally cost UPND the mangango seat. The PF have effectively dividedd the lozis along ethnic lines. UPND did well to look at the broader interests of western province as opposed to appeasing one ethnic group. anyhow, the margin is small and is easily beatable. am just surprised on the amount of celebration, pomp and praise- singing among the PF cadres. one would think they have just won 2016. 2016 will be a different ballgame.
Let’s learn to separate party activities from government work. Ideally, Katema should not be using his position as Chief Govt Spokesman to comment on party activities. That should be left to the secretariat.

I first thought the heading was incorrect. The PF party can congratulate the electorate NOT the Government. If the Government is to comment on anything it should restrict itself to the conduct of the elections. Hon. Katema do not misuse your mic.

Yes its wrong but the line between PF and Govt is very thin. just like HH and Tongas. mangango pipo have done the right thing to conect themselvs to the source not to who would be the source
This is like scoring early in Match against Man U or Barcelona, PF has done well congratulations, but let’s see if Mchinga province and north will support the Kabimba clique once Ukwa is gone. This is interesting . UPND needs to build more political bridges. But this Kabimbas time to gloat much as I don’t like him. It has embolded him with PF. Surprised about Nevers can he split the northern vote if he continues? Thought I knew the answers but I have also been Mangangoed . Munabi Lungu should not just complain, but he must join the PF trick of contesting the election in the courts of Law.
