Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Prof. Nkandu Luo says government will soon audit the allocation of land in Mumbwa District which is marred by a lot of irregularities.

Prof. Luo said the Ministry of Lands will soon go to Mumbwa to audit the allocation of land in the district.

The Minister said the District Council and Chiefs have no authority to give out over 30,000 hectares of land to anyone without the consent of the President.

Prof. Luo said she has information that councillors and Chiefs have been giving huge chunks of land to themselves and later re-sale it to the so called investors.

She has since warned that if anyone will be found wanting they will face the wrath of law because their actions amount to theft.

  3. Zambia,s security has been compromised by land allocation all previous and present govts have terribly failed to manage land allocation and now villagers are selling large chunks to anyohe foreignerscetc. We dont even know who owns what. Land audits have been mentioned by the current and previous govt but its all lip stick. Total failure, its just a laughing issue how pipo call themselves ministers or directors and fail to manage simple jobs land allocation. Remove caderism in politics everything will be fihe

  4. i think its high time the Council is audited. in 2008 i lost my k600.00 as un refundable fee when i applied for a farm land. most of us were not given the land despite having sacrificed our meage resources. it was reported that there was alot of corruption. most of the land was given to whites who were chased from zimbabwe and those who had money to corrupt. i wonder what kind of mentality is this. this land belongs to zambians and not foreigners. please investigate these guys and extend the audit to the allocation of farms that were advertised in the papers in 2008. it pains when i think of the money i lost to mumbwa city council

  5. IT’S not just the council but chiefs like Shakumbila and Kaindu. These people have given huge trucks of land to whites.Locals in these chiefdoms are really complaining. The government should come to their aid.I have not heard people complaining from Chief Chibuluma,Kabulwelwe,Mulendema,Moono and Mumba
