Mr Mpundu said NAPSA is confident that the Hilton Garden Inn Lusaka will be a viable investment going by the massive investments taking place in the tourism industry in Zambia.
He said the project to sit on Society House is part of the renewal of the Central Business District to make it modern and business friendly.
Mr Mpundu revealed that the Society House redevelopment project which consist a shopping Mall and office block is progressing well.
Useless development
I believe it’s a good development. The CBD needs a facelift and that building was abandoned for too long. The mixed use dev’t is a good approach, esp. that it includes metered elevated parking. This is one of very few projects I commend the previous gov’t for funding
They should build one in Livingstone too, livingstone needs major renovations.
Bravo!!! The investment will go a long way in attracting international and local tourists of considerable financial capability. This is a demonstration of investor confidence. It is also a demonstration of the determination of investors to cooperate with government in achieving national development.
@ Dr Makasa, are you real Doctor because the institution that conferred you with that title must be regretting it
Society House? Is that not on Cairo Road which is now a filthy, stinky no go area?
I guess you prefer it to remain that way :/ Some positivity would do some of you some good
Don’t you take a bath at the end of the day when you’re dirty?
Any sensible hotelier would not build a hotel of international standards on Cairo road. It is way too congested and not ideal. Access from the airport is a nightmare!!
Cairo
if you are not a fool then you have not traveled, where have you seen a international hotel in the bush, all best hotels are built in the middle of business town, check your facts my boy/girl
This is the same project that RB was crucified for by the PF and the Post. Add Mobile ambulances and Mongu-Kalabo Road to the list.
You are a political novice.
Credit must go where it’s due, in this case to Rupia Banda and the then MMD led government, the Zambian people especially those at home for their resilience and to the current PF government for not abandoning a meaningful development reject for the sake of scoring negative political points.
A great administrator who was not appreciated indeed. Rupiah Banda sought sustainable development with a focus of the future.
Eish, were behind in terms of decades in tourism if Hilton is just now coming to Zambia. This chain has had a huge hotel in downtown Nairobi for 4 decades.
So what? We have had the Victoria Falls for centuries and in fact, time immemorial before one Scottish Dr. David Livingstone was discovered there. Incidentally, could our very own mukuwa sianga be a descendant of this David Livingstone?
Good the prostitutes will now move to Cairo Rd.
This is a good development remember new York wasn’t all flowers and Roses in the 80s till they city and private decided to clean it up what we need now is better planners and urban designers to work on the traffic coming into and out of town as well as better visible policing and upgrading of pedestrian routes there is a lot to been done but this is a big step… That parking garage is fantastic
