A CROSS section of society has welcomed the decision by President Michael Sata to dismiss Justice minister Wynter Kabimba, who was also PF secretary general, but the Post Newspaper in it’s editorial described the dismissal as a culmination of a long and sustained campaign of lies, malice and all sorts of propaganda against Wynter Kabimba.

Those who welcomed the president’s decision include members of the Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt, who have welcomed President Sata’s decision to relieve Mr Kabimba of his duties.

CB PF chairperson Stardy Mwale said in an interview that the party in the province had faith in President Sata’s decisions and they, therefore, backed his decision to let go of Mr Kabimba as both party secretary general and Justice minister.

Mr Mwale said the move would make the party stronger and even more popular because with Mr Kabimba as PF secretary general, party members spoke and acted with fear.

“Communication between the lower ranks of the party and the higher ranks will improve now and operations of the office of the SG will be smooth because people will now be free to work,” Mr Mwale said, adding that the secretariat would also be more effective in its operations.

He said the PF on the Copperbelt was of the view that the party would gain further popularity because many members were happy that Mr Kabimba was no longer the secretary general.

In Kitwe, PF members gathered at the City square and Little Theatre in support of President Sata’s decision to fire Mr Kabimba.

National youth chairperson Chishimba Kambwili, who addressed PF members, urged them to pay their allegiance to President Sata.

Mr Kambwili said Mr Kabimba had caused divisions in the party by creating parallel structures. He said no one was above the party.

“I would like to thank you all for supporting President Sata’s decision to drop Wynter Kabimba,” Mr Kambwili said. “We will not victimise those that were with him but if they do not change we will deal with them because no one is bigger than our party.”

Mr Kambwili urged the members to remain united and mobilise the party. Former Eastern Province (PF) chairperson Lameck Mangani also welcomed the decision to sack Mr Kabimba.

Mr Mangani said in Chipata yesterday that the PF was founded on the principles of democracy and that Mr Kabimba had completely done the opposite of what the party believed in.

He recalled that Mr Kabimba’s last visit to Eastern Province led to his dismissal as provincial chairperson, describing the former of Justice minister as being arrogant.

“I am actually celebrating with the rest of PF members who have welcomed his dismissal from both positions,” he said.

Some PF cadres yesterday celebrated the dismissal of Mr Kabimba from his ministerial and party positions by carrying a mock coffin and honking as they drove around Chipata town.

In Livingstone, the United Party for National Development (UPND) commended President Sata for dropping Mr Kabimba.

UPND Livingstone District spokesperson Neto Halwabala said firing Mr Kabimba was a relief not only to opposition political parties, but to the democratic dispensation of the country.

Mr Halwabala said in an interview that the dismissal of Mr Kabimba was long overdue because he was not only causing confusion and division in the PF, but did not respect divergent views of the opposition.

Operation Young Vote (OYV) executive director Guess Nyirenda also welcomed the dismissal of Mr Kabimba.

“The move by President Michael Chilufya Sata to rest Wynter Kabimba has not only come as good riddance to the PF party and Government but to the political and democratic dispensation of the nation and people of Zambia at large,” Mr Nyirenda said.

    • Call me silly but l have no idea who fired Kabimba! Secondly, l think we ought to be more annoyed with the fact that our beloved president, man of the people-employed by the people has been missing for close to three months!! Can u imagine ur domestic servant not appearing for work for one week…kabimba’s dismisal is good news however, there is more than meets the eye…bring out my servant!

    • What happened to our defence chiefs? Lesotho is reportedly been taken over by the army. The PM is in hiding as we speak! In zed, it begs the question about who really fired the little man wk?

    • Mmembe is just a bitter, arrogant, self-centered sadist who is hell-bent on manipulating people and the affairs of the country using his use.less toilet paper newspaper, the past newspaper. He’s been hit where is hurts most. Go to hell you evil person Mmembe. Chilakuwamina iwee when you are busy scandalizing and bringing down other people using your ka use.less paper. Who do you think you are?

    • The Post Newspaper is entitled to its own opinion

Besides an opinion is like an arse, everyone has one

Meanwhile, lets move forward as a nation

    • But kwena PF is undemocratic – one man appoints and dismisses just like that. And they say they are a democratic party. PF is truly mr.michael satas personal property, there is no protection from abuse from the party president. The whole lot of PF should be fired, starting from the senior most member mr.sata himself and ending with the least, ordinary, common member like mr.kabimba.

    • Hey hey hey, wait a minute, it’s Chikwanda who fired winter. Sata in his current state cannot fire anyone. If I were Kabimba, I would seek audience with the president just to make sure he is the one behind the firing and thank him for having given me an opportunity to serve the people of Zambia

  1. In his editorial, M’membe claims Wynter resisted for over a year to join Michael’s government. What a crap of rubb!sh. We’ll see who will be buying your paper since you have even antagonised your loyal readers from PF

    • @ The chosen one

U spot on. Swinger, mmembe thinks he is invincible. U can’t fool all the people all the time. Pay back the money baba. Yo rag is hearded for liquidation. U can run but u can’t hide!

  2. Kabimba lacked two key attributes required in a leader -humility and respect for others. No matter how talented and exceptional, a leader who lacks humility and respect for others will ultimately fail. Kabimba ultimately proved to be too much of a liability to the PF mainly due to the way he treated others and the way he projected himself. You can disagree with colleagues whilst respecting them. In his tenure as SG and Minister, Kabimba had the uncanny ability to upset people unenecessarily, he antagonised many -often unjustifiedly. And he was often Judge, jury and executioner. He ruined careers of many. He had no time to hear the other side. (He was always right). It never occured to him that he could be wrong. It was difficult to think that this man is a lawyer.

  4. I have been a ardent supporter of the post newspaper right from its founding days when it went by different names. Alas, Iam now being persuaded to withdraw this support and custom because or its new tendencies and practices.

  6. M’membe, this is the same Michael you wrote so fondly about week in week out. Wait until he comes for you. Sadly no one will side with you because you comprised your integrity and that of your paper. You can’t tell me that you never saw it coming. 14 billion you owe at how???

  7. we were all afraid to continue being wth kabimba cos us zambians we hate division and confusion i think its good for the betterment of our country even others who are like him shud b sorted out cos we want peace

  8. Mmembe made Kabimba arrogant. I hope he realises how much damage he’s causing his friend and the nation at large.

  9. Kabimba should take this opportunity to sit down and really reflect and do a deep introspection. To have people celebrating your misfortune indicates serious personality flaws on his part.

    • Yes we too the masses need to ‘take this opportunity to sit down and really reflect and do a deep introspection’. The way these same people worshipped him is almost embarrassing. Just how did he manage to get to where he was and become this arrogant? Please read my comments below.

    • @wantansh,can’t agree more ,he should live a quite life, probably start attending regular church services and do community work.otherwise the man is detested by over 95% of the population.

    • I don’t know if kabimba has a family because as far as iam concern we listen to our kids and wife.Iam sure his family is laughing at him at the moment because he never respected them.

  10. Just arrest the 1d1ots for treason and let them rot in hell. Zambians have been too patient with these big headed thugs. Mmembe and his thugs have brought nothing but misery to Zambia. Enough is enough.

  11. Ths serves as a warning to ALL. Always Respect your parents NO MATTER wht . Kabimba ‘insulted his BIOLOGICAL DAD by saying “Sata knows me more than my Father”. Wht a FOOLISH STATEMENT ?
    Moreover Wynter is Dull !!
so people lets b careful God Loves all.

  12. I understand M’membe’s mourning of Kabimba’s being booted out of the boat because the head of the cartel has been cracked. What remains is for Mutembo Nchito to get the boot. Eventually we will get our K14M-plus back!

  13. Forget about Kabimba, he’s gone now – God (or is it the Devil) bless him in his future endeavours. Rather my problem is with these spineless chickens and raccoons coming out of woodwork to celebrate his dismissal with all sorts of accusations. Where were they all this time when Kabimba was almost an untouchable demigod? Oh now they are able to muster courage and f!ght a wounded soldier when he’s down.

This kind of behaviour is what is k!lling our nation. These same people worshipped Kabimba and helped him build his arrogance. Some even f0ght fatal battles for him (anyone remember the war between GBM and Kabimba cadres en route to the airport in Lusaka?). Why couldn’t they be courageous enough then to stand up against the man and call for his dismissal?

    • So thus Kabimba’s downfall is really a big lesson for all of us, more so than it is for Kabimba himself. A lesson not only in humility but learning how to stand up against tyranny and abusive power when we see them in our leaders. We should stop worshipping the wrongs and individuals perpetuating them.

And yes The Post Newspaper had to stand up with their own man all the way to save face. No surprises there as I don’t think they had much choice. But I just hope this is the beginning of the waning of their influence. We will see what happens next. My prediction is that they will soon switch the their allegiance to someone else to protect their interests and their behind (literally, LOL :)).

  14. for me it was like a dream when i heard the story,it only became a dream come true wen i opened my tablet after coming back from a remote area.as for MMEMBE it is very uwise of him to be suporting kambimbas behaviour after seing how he tried to destroy the PF in the short period of time the party which spent 10 solid years in the oposition trying to win peoples suport and trust .it is said you can fool some people but u cant fool all the people all the time, the best thing Kabimba can do is to sit down and reflet on his life and where he went wrong becoz MMEMBE will not help him in anyway he will be just ading salt to his wounds, moreove everything is said and done.

  15. Hon kabimba think about your family and yourself say sorry to zambians. In case you dont know it will affect your children and their children so make peace with Zambians

  16. We need more scientific analysis to issues. Winter was part of a political organism u are calling the cartel?. If that is factual then, its similar to a Fungi. Taking out the visible part of the fungus does not remove the mycelium and these will sprout when conditions are right.

  17. But what exactly was he doing or what did he do to deserve this country wide hatred. During the Kapiri Mposhi bye election he said “bufabufa ncilyo cabasongo” meaning “foolishness is food for the wise.” Next time my brother you should get it right by going for elections and not appointments. Check on who appoints you also and why.

  18. Pf should continue with its purification process especially some Dcs,judiciary,Vp,and all spies from the post paper should be excommunicated.otherwise it will be a chase game.

  19. The bostambulating of this homosapien Wynter Kabimba has brought a reticulial mood to our imphoshous country as we all know that Wynter was becoming tetramandonistic yet some populace are still bewildered, let us catapularise the President for his adjudication.

  20. What is this I hear that Wynter acted illegally as Acting President. If that is true then Wynter and his accomplices – GUy Scott, Secretary to Cabinet (Dr. Msiska) and indeed anyone who attended meetings chaired by the impersonator are guilty of a felony. The SC is on record to have said the president left Wynter incharge. Lelo mwanya. Muzungu anikonde

  21. NOW* that Ba Winter had* tested power and how it feels like# let him form his own party and see how popular he is* MMembe is there to help

  22. let kabimba now form a party so that his vice president fred mmembe can campain for him through his useless post newspaper and we see how popular they are.And fire all those post newspaper journalist who were given jobs by the gorvernment.

  23. What are the police waiting for, when this guy went on national TV, openly claimed of bringing in chaps illegally?? Chimbokaela is waiting!! That is called “People Smuggling!”

  24. There is an article commenting on the firing of Kabimba on ZWD and it claims that ZWD “coined” the word “Cartel”!? This is a word first employed in the late 15th Century and has been part of the English lexicon and vocabulary since. Has ZWD been in existence that long? As you would expect they did not publish my comment.

  25. The best Kabimba can do is to apologize to his family, his village, PF and nation about how arrongant he was/is. Failure to do this will render him a destitute in no time. The Post and Mmembe can not save him. He must also play ‘dead’ for now, any sign of fight-back will trigger PF membership cancellation and State machinery – ACC, Police DEC etc convening on his case. My advise to him is to start farming. Imfula yalapona.

  26. Drunkedness with power combined with arrogance and a huge ego will always pave a better road to self destruction than asphalt. It turns out the rd Kabimba built with so much pride had potholes, sharp curves into people’s property,no lane markers plus blind spots and it led to his own bleak town called Waterloo.

  27. One of the good traits that education inculcates in people is “tolerance to divergent views”. A trait Kabimba may not have come across let alone known. Anything from the opposition was nonsense. In Tonga we say “mulonga watakazyolwa wakabula makwebo”, directly translated as “a person who does not take advice lacked profitability”. While it may have been a difficult and painful decision for the president to make, it was necessary to save the party from an eminent downfall. What is even more disappointing for Mr Kabimba is that he may not even be an attractive figure to any party, even the smallest might not give him a YES into their party. Here is one of his arrogant statements in case you had forgotten:.

    1. The educated people are trying to hijack the constitution making process.

  28. Hon kabimba can be fired but he built the party upto where it is now, a strong party. People are jast used being lazy and jast want to eat and drink. We hope the next chief executive officer Will not jast promote the guzzling of whiskey as we hear he’s a culprit. Celebrations that now the party has become weak. As for the constitution it will still stand coz I don’t believe that it was done by him alone.game on

  29. THE PUNISHMENT FOR WINTER WAS TOO HARSH. SATA SHOULD HAVE SENT HIM TO ONE OF THE EMBASSY AS AMBASANDOR. WINTER CONTRIBUTED TO PF VICTORY IN A BIG WAY AND HE HAS BEEN STRONG IN DIRECTING WAY FOR PARTY AND GOVERNMENT AND I FEEL THE SACK IS TOO MUCH. THINK AGAIN SATA IN ALL FAIRNESS HAVE MERCY SOMETIMES ON OTHER PEOPLE. WINTER CAN COLLAPSE AND GO EARLY TO THE GRAVE. MY THOUGHT.
