Patriotic Front Katete District party Chairperson Joseph Duma Makukula says Wynter Kabimba’s stay as Party Secretary General destroyed the party in Eastern Province.

Mr. Makukula says the dismissal of Mr. Kabimba by President Michael Sata was long overdue.

ZANIS reports that the District PF chairperson said in an interview in Katete today that Mr. Kabimba was fast rate in destroying the party than building it.

He added that Mr. Kabimba worked tirelessly in building his empire within the rank and file of the ruling party.

He observed that the former Justice minister and PF Secretary General had become ‘ a small god ’ in the party adding that most people serving on appointing oppositions such as District Commissioners and District political secretaries were afraid of executing their duties diligently because of the pressure and intimidation that he ( Mr. Kabimba ) posed on them.

Mr. Makukula recounted the confusion that recently rocked the ruling party in Eastern province as one clear example of the decisive motivates that Mr. Kabimba planted in the province.

He said since Mr. Kabimba assumed the position of Secretary General and appointed as Justice Minister the party in the province lost its popularity as the opposition lost interest in the party they wished they could belong to.

The chairperson further narrated the personal interest that Mr. Kabimba exhibited in the party when he accommodated strangers in the party and tried to push away people that founded the party.

Mr. Makukula further alleged that all the districts in the province where bitter with the secretary general when he took a stance of dissolving the leadership in the party and brought in factions that promoted his personal agenda of sending the party in extinction.

He charged that Mr. Kabimba was more useful in the opposition and did not deserve to serve the party further.

He said the party in the province will now embark on mobilization and take further steps reaching people in the remote parts of the districts to explain what government is doing for the betterment of their wellbeing.

The district Chairperson has since thanked President Sata for appointing Home Affairs minister Edgar Lungu for his appointment as the new PF Secretary General and Justice Minister in place of Mr. Kabimba.

He said the party in the district has hope that Mr. Lungu will strengthen the party that Mr. Kabimba tried hard to destroy.

He added that the decision by the president has clearly shown then President Sata does not have any sacred cows in the party.

  1. When the Germans were developing the first rocket the initial challenge was to
maintain a fired missile on the intended trajectory. Of course the Germans are
renowned for their thoroughness and they managed to surmount that setback.
Our Kabimba was like that first prototype- an unguided missile whose only fate is
self-destruction. The creators of him should have known better to install appropriate
    software!

    • I think we have talked enough on Kabimba. As much as he wronged, intimidated, bullied and divided you. I know others just want the attention of the President, or for him to know that they exist. Lets not forget that Kabimba is someone’s Father, someone’s Son, someone’s Husband, or is it some women’s Husband. Imagine how all these people fell when we make our statements. Imagine all these statements were targeted at your father?

Lets take a leaf from that PF official from Northern Province and respect him as a Human being. That PF official’s statement is the best one can give during such times.

“PF official from Northern Province”, Sorry I have forgotten your name, but Thank you for being level headed and your wisdom.

  2. I hope the violence, abuse of PoA, infringement on personal liberties, lack of media freedom and the harassment of opposition political leaders will now end with Kabimba’s dismissal

  3. Winter at some meeting in eastern province of Zambia told the gathering that he smuggled in kenyans to help rig the elections in the 2011 general elections . ECZ (electral commission of Zambia) as a public institution serving public interest should on behalf of the public get the truth from Winter Kabimba what really transpired Winter has all the time now to answer to all such questions. If the ECZ do not dig the truth from Winter then we the public will take it that ECZ is part of the Winter Kabimba /Fred Mmembe/George Chellah/Mutembo Nchito/and too many others all code named a ‘cartel’ . The ECZ must act now.

  4. Amazing how people can change. If Sata today rescinds Wynter’s dismissal (which is possible), I wonder what some people will do. Truth be told, Wynter has not been delt with justly. He was loyal, intelligent and hard working. Yes he was arrogant but that’s a value judgement and a personality trait. Iam personally hurt by his dismissal and iam Bemba.

    • @Chete

It is a gross mistake to think and hold the view that people belonging to the same tribe hold the same opinions. Each individual is as unique as any of God’s people. Senior Chief Inyambo’s loss to a subject as MP for Mwandi Constituency a few years ago is evidence of this. Surely, the subjects of Mwandi should have voted for their beloved chief. But they did not. And Senior Chief Inyambo is not an average person. He is intelligent, articulate and charismatic. Ask those who have heard him speak. But the people of Mwanid did not want him to be in active politics and be insulted. That is being principled.

  5. As much as I hated one arrogant Kabimba, I’m just surprised as to how these PF turncoats are lining to praise their incapacitated president. Where in a democracy can you fire a Secretary General of a Party just like that…do they not have a constitution, its there to protect them, the PF empty tins praising the president will regret it as they too will one day be in the selfsame predicament.
    Zambian politicians never ever learn!!

  6. “It is a very humiliating and trying moment WK but you are not the first one……hold yourself mudala pray that yo life z spared….such is politics….paul tembo and ronald penza lost their lives in almost similar circumstances. Naked you were born and naked you shall return….give Sata everything that belonged to him…if you owe him his coins give him and keep quiet….actually quit politics for now…..your situation is delicate no one can help you except yourself……you are no longer pf….give them their regalia caps and retreat into solitary quietness…its not time to issue political statements or to organise clandestine meetings….remember you have a family”

  7. I think Mr Makukula should concentrate on the thuggery that is in bred in his district. Currently his own district & Youth chairpersons are locked up for assault, him being implicated. Also he was party, together with current Vubwi DC in the creating & supporting of riots that hit Katete in April last year, no need to look as far as Kabimba, clean yourselves first. The Party is ridden with thuggery, bullying & thieving, clean it up.

    • Absolutely true! Well said. Control through violence is (hopefully soon to be ‘was’) PF party ethos. It is the way ‘things are done.’

  8. With regards to the article, I take issue with the the following:
“when he took a stance of dissolving the leadership in the party and brought in factions that promoted his personal agenda of sending the party in extinction.”

If Kabimba is truly guilty of the above then he is guilty of a very serious crime. Plotting to remove an elected gov’t and to take over!! Is that not treason and will he not hang for it? PF Do you hate this man so much? The reaction to the sacking of Kabimba has given Zambians a clear picture on the personalities in power. These are savage minds.

    Did they complain?
“in the party adding that most people serving on appointing oppositions such as District Commissioners and District political secretaries were afraid of executing their duties diligently.”

  9. Winter is the one person that brought ‘organisation’ to the PF. he stood by theparty like nobodys’ business when most people like GBM didn’t want to raise their heads. In the party he cut out unnecessary campaign allowances even to ministers. A lot of financial /plain theft by politics where stopped by Winter resulting in the vultures rebelling against him since most are in the party for their bellies. No wonder hungry cadres who can sell a soul for a packet of Chibuku could easily be mobilised to rise against Winters’ order. Even thug Kambwili. Mangani was actually retired by WK and now e chance to join the pack. Mr Sata also lacks civility – surely is that the way you treat your former right hand man?? Shame on PF ‘democracy’ or is is Satocracy ???
    Really uncivilised .

  10. Lack of a proper constitution and strong institutions usually hurt the politicians even more. Had MMD not sat on the constitution and POA and other insane instruments of power probably RB would be enjoying his retirement in peace and not having to worry about going to courts of law at that age. There would probably have been a more humane and professional way of handling Kabimba dismissal than the crackpot method Sata employed. The president wouldn’t have such sweeping powers to throw his weight around unnecessarily. If they hadn’t been farting around serious issues, that is.
